  1. I purchased the new Simms solarflex long sleeved hoody. It's actually cooler to wear then a cotton t-shirt. It even has little elastic bands inside the sleeves that go over your thumbs. Will not wear another shirt now and I've tried quite a few. I'm very fair skinned and burn easy. Give it a try, you'll be happy you did!

  3. A 90° will spiral on the fall, but hang up more where a 60° won't spiral, but won't hang up as much.
  4. Duo Realis G-fix in American shad color in the fall and the original Bill Lewis in blue back, chrome with an orange belly any other time.
  5. Have you tried reel grips? They slide right on the knobs and are very comfortable. They cost around $6.00.

Yes it is, though I haven't tried floating it. I read a review and the person said it indeed floats, but not for a long time. I'd probably try it in a pool before I'd toss it in the lake and hope for the best. Lol

I just got the EGO slider this year and so far I'm loving it. Have netted everything from 5-6 pound LM and SM to 10-12 pound sheephead (fresh water drum). It saves sooo much time getting trebles untangled in the net too.
  8. A guy I used to work with found a way to catch grass carp. He'd take bagels and leave them on the dash (in a bag of course lol)of his truck to get them all gooey and nasty then make little balls out of them and catch em that way. Give it a try.
  9. Check out amazon. They have the frabill F2 surge jacket for $48 and the bibs for $59. My brother just got these and likes them. I think they're regularly $200 or so for each. I have stormr so I can't say personally, but the frabill suit does have pretty good reviews on Amazon. Hope this helps.
  10. Boy, it's a good thing bass don't have hands or they'd be breaking all of our baits! Stupidest video ever possibly?
  11. If the cara is the weightless worm model then ya go for it. I have that rod and throw weightless senkos and such on it with no problems. That's a good deal on that rod too.
  12. I'd also suggest something in the 7 foot range medium, fast/extra fast action. You'll get a longer cast with that set up. I usually pitch my drop shots rather then cast. Less tendency to get your hook/bait crossed up with the sinker. Especially on windy days. Which are a constant on erie. I fish erie almost exclusively, mainly the islands (all 3 bass islands, Kelly's and pelee). I usually throw tubes on 6'6"-6'9" m/mh baitcasting gear and med and deep cranks on a 7'-7'3" mh moderate fast action casting rod. Hope that helps in your decision making.
  13. I just ordered my set up for deep crankin. Dobyns champion xp 705cbmf glass rod with a lews super duty wide spool in 5.1:1 gear ratio.
  14. I've had pretty good success using the gander mountain brand stick worm when I'd run out of senkos. 13 in a pack for 5 bones isn't to bad of a price. Alot of color choices also.
  15. I started using yamamoto swimming senkos and they work real good. Doesn't take much to get the paddle tail moving.
  16. Hi everyone, I've been reading posts for quite awhile, but never posted so I figured I'll make my first to help/advise a fellow angler. First off the Ohio River (all of it) is a notoriously tough bass fishery. Go and check out some of the latest tournament results (bfl) comes to mind. The pro who won had 9.6lbs. The co-angler who won had 6 lb. something. To put this in perspective, these are people who are dedicated fisherman with high end rigs with all the bells n whistles. I would definitely heed the advice of trying smaller waters. It seems that where you live there should be some strip mine ponds and those ponds have quality bass in them. Just my 2 cents. Just keep on trying and your bound to get that first elusive bass. Good luck!
