  4. As a man that is going through the divorce process let me tell you to be thankfull that you are finding this out now. When I had to go through pre mariage talks with the priest to get married in the Catholic Church he told both my wife and I that our downfall would be our families. Well 9 years later he was right. She could not stand that My father brother and I were close and spent alot of time together. She was jealous of my family occupying my time. I knew that there was a history of mental abuse and mental health problems in her family and chose to look the other way. Well as time went on she became abusive, and started drinking heavily and other self medicating. Now she is in therapy and we are divorcing. Long story short is that you not only marry the person you are with you marry the family and their past, present and future. I can say this that if she is taking her family's side when you have disagreements after being with you for three years then she is never going too change.
  5. I remember about 20 years ago my father taught me a great life lesson. We were coming into town from the farm and there was a guy there that had a sign that said homeless will work for food. Every car in front of us was handing him a dollar or two. I asked my father why he was not giving him money. He then rolled down the window and told the guy that he would pay him ten dollars an hour feed him, cloth him and even put him up for the night all he had to do was wait at that intersection for 15 minutes and we would be back to give him a ride. Well when we came back he was nowhere to be found. My dad explained that he did not want a helping hand just a hand out. To further prove his point he drove me down the street about 6 blocks and that guy was down there with his same sign. When he saw dad's truck he packed up and walked the other direction.
  6. There is a good article on this site about them. One of the pros discusses different methods and applications for them.
  7. First rule of fishing is to have fun. I have found that when I am confident with a bait I catch more fish with it. However the only way to get confidence is to fish it. My advise to people is when you have a day that you are killing them with a certain bait that is the time to put it up and try other ones. If the bite turns cold you can always go back to what was working. This taught me how to yo yo a spinner bait on Erie for smallies. It is now one of my go to methods.
  8. Welcome to the site.
  9. Darwin works in predictable ways
  10. I was 29 two years ago when my dad, best friend, hunting and fishing buddy passed away. I don't cry everyday now but not a day goes by that it does not still hurt. I still get in moods and break down and cry. I miss my dad but most of all I miss my friend. Don't feel bad to cry I am doing it now as I type this. I am truly sorry for your loss. Good luck and may God be with you through these tough times. Just remember you are the man of the family now. Take care of them and be strong for them. But allow yourself time to grieve. I still get to see him everynight in my dreams. I used to wake up sad. Now I am just glad i still get to talk to him. At first I felt cheated and was mad at God that he was taken at such a young age. Now I am thankful that I had 29 wonderful years with him.
