Crank/topwater Rod
I went to my local BPS and was talking to one of the sales men about a rod that could do these two things for around 100 dollars, the three options he said would probably work best. St.Croix Premier in a 7' MH/MF, A BPS Crankin Stick 7'MH/MF. and a Shimano Clarus in a 7' MH/MF. His favorite choice was the Clarus because of the lifetime over the counter warant, and seemed to be right in the middle price wise. I want to be able to Crank with this, but because this is a Moderate fast action, use it for topwater jerk baits. Will the length give me trouble if im fishing from shore? i dont think it will be too bad, but any opinions would be helpful.

Heavy Spinning Setup
Ok so im looking at getting a heavy spinning set up for things like channel cats, muskie, sturgeon, and carp. So far my reel of choice is the BPS CatMaxx because of the price, heavy drag, and build quality. I would also like to troll with this, but thats not as important. Looking for a whole set up, im aiming for 80 dollars. Please help.

First Baitcaster Reel/rod Setup
Right now I only own one baitcaster, Its a 100% BPS Setup and im very happy with it. Johnny Morris 6:4:1 On a Nitro 7'MH. I think 7'MH or 6'6" M/MH is the way to go for an all around rod.

I Have A Reel, What Rod?
There are plenty of things you can try that are not top water, here are some simple ones. Spoons- Relatively cheap, and come in many colors. I have a lot of luck here with red and white, or yellow and red. All you have to do is cast and reel in. Worms- There are a many different ways to fish a worm, for you, the easiest would be to buy the pre-rigged worms. They run about $1.49, i prefer mine in purple and white, but there are many different colors. With this you cast out, twitch it a time or to, reel in the slack, and continue. Jerkbait- This is a hard bait that sits right under the water, and you use it just as it sounds. Cast out, jerk, reel in slack, continue. Swimbaits- Many are made to look like small minnows or other fish, and you can use these in many different ways. You could simply cast out and reel in, jig it off the bottom, or use it like a jerk bait. Spinners- These are lures used for many different fish, and range in size. All you need to do is cast and reel in, they come in a variety of colors and styles. Hopes this helps, and most of these should be easy on the wallet.

I Have A Reel, What Rod?
Whats your price range? that will help with us being able to help you. In genereal, i would go with a 6'6 to 7' Medium, or MH rod. I have the Clarus in a 5'6 MH and i love it, especially for the money.

River Smallmouth Combo Critique
For the money, I personally would get a Pflueger President, great reel for the money, and will leave you a little more room for a better rod.
