Trokar Tube Hooks?
- Trokar Tube Hooks?
I assume you are talking about the TK190? I love those hooks. I put the hook through the top of the tube, then out about 1/4" down. I always rig my tubes above the keeper on these hooks. I actually fish craws with them too and for those sometimes I will leave the craw on one of the divets, holds them a little better around brush.- What Are The Best Soft Plastic Craws?
Most of the time I am fishing a Chigger Craw w/ Crazy Legs. When I want a little more action, I use a Rage Craw. Most of my fishing is done in smaller ponds so I am using the smaller 3" Chigger's or the Baby Rage Craws most of the time. When I want to upgrade size, I just go to the bigger 4" Chigger Craw.- Baits For Hot Spring Days?
All depends where and what you are fishing. Today I fished a small pond, maybe the length of two football fields by 60 ft. I threw a fluke, lipless crank and a jig - caught nothing. I caught two bass, one on a rage craw rage rigged on a moaner hook and the other a Berkley chigger craw on a strike king roundball jighead. That was at 5:30 pm and the sun was beating down. They wanted it slow and compact today.- Opinions On Some Cheaper Spinning Reels Wanted.
I have four spinning reels and two are SXs. I'm honestly about to switch out the other two for SXs as well. The price can't be beat at $40. I like shelling out for nicer baitcasters like the two tourney pros I have but have always stuck around the $40 mark for spinning reels. The SXs are by far my favorite.- How Do You Palm A Reel?
To be honest I don't really remember, I'll hold a reel when I get home just because Im curious now. Lol. Things like that become second nature, like tying your shoe.- Opinions On Some Cheaper Spinning Reels Wanted.
I have a three year old S and two two year old SXs, I love them all.- Lews Speed Spool
Agreed, it was awful.- Lews Speed Spool
It can be used for just about anything. I had the exact same rod paired up with a PQ (almost the exact same reel) a couple years back and it was a good setup. To be honest, I didn't like it much for jigs but other than that it was great. I felt the tip was a little too soft to fish jigs the way I like - I did however fish the smaller Strike King Bitsy Bug jig with it.- New Member From Central Florida
Welcome!- How To Work A Rage Craw
I'm in the same boat. I love the way the rage craws look and move but I have a ton more success using Berkley Chigger Craws w/ Crazy Legs.- New Member From Sunny Orlando

Dreamland?- Bps Pro Qualifier Or Lews Tournament?
Having had both, I can tell you they are both great reels. If it were me and I were trying to save a buck, I'd get the PQ and wouldn't think twice. As DVT said, they are very, very similar reels. The PQ is a steal for $100 but for $80 it's robbery. With the PQ you are also getting bass pro's return service. I once dunked my two year old PQ in the water and it was never the same, took it to the Orlando shop and told them exactly what happened, they told me to grab a brand new one and take it to them and have them ring it up as a replacement. I had a carbonlite that I ended up breaking early on, and the I experienced the exact same service. I once bought a pack of their craws that was missing one craw, thinking "I'll just tell them so they can let their quality control know" I went and told them. The store manager told me to grab a new pack for free and keep the one I had. Thanked me and shook my hand. They don't mess around with their brand name stuff. The best part is, you don't even need a receipt as long as your transactions are on your scorecard.- Advice With Quantum Reel
Always examine your reels prior to buying them. When buying at BPS, I usually go through three reels (of the same model) before I decide which I'd like to buy.- Chillin In Warm Central Florida
Welcome from Orlando! Fishin is getting good here right now.- Great Backpack For Bank Fishing?
The veritas bag is a backpack, my initial bag was not a backpack. Here's a link to it: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=19434536. I only have soft plastics in that one box and it is a deep box, if I were to take that out I could fit even more soft plastics than I currently have, I just like keeping those organized.- As Close To An All Purpose Spinning Rod?
I've got seven rods and 60% of the time I'm using my Mojo Bass paired with an Abu Garcia Cardinal SX (hell of a reel for $40). The rod is a 7' M/F and the reel has 8lb Sufix Elite on it. Other than frogging and heavy jigging, I am 100% comfortable using this rod for any purpose.- Great Backpack For Bank Fishing?
I fit all of this in the biggest pocket: 3 3601's and a 3500. I could fit one more 3500 if I wanted to. All lipless and shallow cranks in one, jigs and topwater in another, tackle in another and frogs in the small one. Second pocket: 1 3650 for swimbaits and 4 bags of craws. I could easily fit two 3500s and more soft plastics in here. Small outside pocket: Big outside pocket: 9 bags of worms There is also a bottle holder where I place two bags of senkos and 2 bags of tubes, if I put a bottle in there, I just throw the bags somewhere in the other pockets, plenty of space. Bag also includes a rod holder on the right side.- Neighborhood Lakes?
Best thing somebody in this thread said is to NOT ask the HOA. If one person has an issue with it they will strike you down. Simply ask the homeowner that lives near said lake, ask multiple if need be. Odds are they will not mind at all and will even be friendly about it.- Great Backpack For Bank Fishing?
I was just like you, for the longest time I needed to have everything with me. I just KNEW there would be a reason I had that jitterbug, all those buzzbaits or those deep diving cranks. I was carrying a huge bag that fit about 7 3600's and it was insane. One day, I sat down and emptied it out. Realized I only used about 25% of my bag every time I went out, and maybe 50% of my bag every once in a while. It pained me to take certain things out but fishing is so much more enjoyable when you aren't lugging around 40lbs of tackle. I took out my spinnerbaits - I wasn't ever using them anymore. Same goes for my buzzbaits, deep diving cranks, tubes, and many other items that I can't quite remember. Fact of the matter is, if you're going bank fishing, you probably have an idea of what you need that day and you'll only need a couple colors of each item. I went and bought the Abu Garcia Veritas bag and love it. At first, I thought I would be leaving behind precious baits and lures (that I NEVER used) but after 2 months, I'm finding I still have plenty of things in here I never use.- Shakey Heads
I like the Strike King roundball jighead as a shakeyhead. The hook is plenty long. It really stands the worm up and does a hell of a job putting it in the bass' face. I prefer the Berkley Bottom Hoppers. You can use a shakey head many different ways but I usually use it two different ways: 1. I just hop it back to me. It will bounce a great deal and the head will keep the tail standing. The great thing about the bottom hopper is the bigger tail, it really exaggerates any extra movement. 2. The typical way to fish a shakeyhead, on a spinning rod and fish it slower. Get the bait in the desired area, and you literally shake your rod. This causes the worm to just shake in place barely moving. I use this when the bite is very slow, otherwise I like hopping it back to me. The biggest drawback with the shakeyhead is vegetation. If you're fishing a place with a ton of grass or algae, you will be pulling up salad all day long.- Recommending Lures
Ha, the face is supposed to b a B ) with no space. My favorite baits range from chigger craws to chug bugs, really just depends on the time of the year. Texas rigging a chigger craw with a pegged tungsten is my go to in local ponds.- Recommending Lures
I thought you were going a different direction when I read the thread title... I don't like telling people my favorite baits. Most of them are people I associate with and I know they either A) fish with me or will probably fish with me at some point meaning they will fish the same waters at some point. Usually when a buddy asks me what my favorite bait is, I'll say "Well, lately I've been using a red eye shad lipless... etc". Which is usually true - if they fish with me enough they'll figure it out.- Bass Not Biting On Jigs?
If the grass is fully submerged, try to fish a wake bait on top of it. Buzzbait, maybe some some plastic frogs. I like to rig a Berkley Subwoofer on a keel weighted hook and fish it topwater, works great over grass and between weeds. I know you ruled out crankbaits, if at all possible, try some lipless cranks around there. Barely tick the grass and rip when necessary. - Trokar Tube Hooks?
