  1. I wasn't saying that they don't care about preserving the fish, I was saying that they don't think twice about the method of killing the fish. Again, I don't care what you do, I was just starting a thread.
  2. Hey man, yeah, I wasn't really thinking anything about, just trying to start a conversation see what people do. I throw in the cooler to be honest. Don't think much about it.
  3. Some old school fisherman I know don't even think twice about, they just throw it in the cooler and let it die. Not a single care is given. What do you do?
  4. That's definately a marlin.
  5. Wait, you guys don't cook them whole? I've been cooking them whole ever since I was a youngin.
  6. I just can't stand the brakes stopping the possible distance of my cast. Anyone else?
  7. Yes/no. Most of the time I cast with my right hand, and then switch. Sometimes though I just do a gentle cast with my left hand.

  9. Cool, just wanted to make sure I'm not alone here, I mean I see some guys go bass fishing and they catch 15-30 bass.. I'm just like, WHAT!?
  10. The last three times I've been out (mind you it is hot) I haven't caught a thing. First time was early morn. 2nd time early early morn. 3rd time midday. I'm just really feelin like I'm doin somethin wrong. I don't ever feel discouraged cause I love it even when I don't catch anything. How many casts do you do before moving around. I usually cast out about 10 times before going somewhere else. Am I not patient enough?
  11. Definately looks more like a green sunfish, but this one is much darker, I think it's a hybrid... It does look like a rock bass in size and shape...but it's clearly a green sunfish or at least very closely-related.
  12. Good call!
  13. I know that hook is huge, I was checking to see if there were bass in this pond when this hungry guy took hold. They were like mad fish jumping at everything that touched the water.

  15. I'm guessing it has to do with the reel and line...
  16. Went fishing yesterday at this decent sized pond (roughly 4,000 sq. ft). It's a clean pond (light-greenish clear color), but it was hot as hades out there 100 degrees. The bass are in there, but with an hour and a half of fishing, only 1 was caught. Is it unlikely for bass to be active in these conditions?
  17. Time of year? Time of day? Lure? Tempterature?
  18. Eh, good call. Thanks man.
  19. Let me explain this: I fish on the lower coosa river in Alabama, and it is a wide and fairly deep river - 20 - 30 feet in some places. Anyway, in the middle of the river, I see fish breaking water and taking prey all the time. Of course, I'm over on the banks in my kayak trying to catch a spotty. What kinds of fish hang out in the center and surface of the river breaking surface? I have yet to get a good look at them, I usually hear the splash and turn my head to that direction...but these are not little fish, because I did see one partially, and it looked to be about 4-8 lbs. Any ideas?
  20. Or, on average, how many days out of the month?
  21. Check good for the river you are fishing in. Usually your local wildlife admin will be able to list the types of fish in your river. I doubt that there are no bass. Also, what bait are you using?
  22. Very nice catch!
  23. I love fishing no matter what, but I would be reluctant to mount a fish I caught in a managed pond. I wouldn't do it. I would still fish there though and take pics!!
