Nice total AK. You beat me out by a whole 10 inches. That's a hard one to beat. The fish are nice. Too bad they are so thin up there. Those bigger ones during the spawn would have been HUGE. Congrats, no one is posting pics that come close to you, unless a "ninja" comes out with a surprise which I am waiting for it to happen at one point or another, AK, looks like your the King of the hill, for July. Congrats.

South Fl Freshwater Fishing Is Like A Box Of Chocolate....
The bass resource member that caught that big peacock from his backyard is SoFlbassaddict. He can vouch for big pea's in West Miramar.

South Fl Freshwater Fishing Is Like A Box Of Chocolate....
I just got in, from checking out the lake. I wasn't going to fish I just wanted to look. It's small lake. But then again, Weston has lakes all around it. Getting too them is highly restricted because its private residential. This particular lake did not look attractive, however there are two other ones that I have been eyeing for a while that others have fished from another forum site with great success. When ever I fish those, I will report. Mg4u2nv, the lakes out in West Miramar are loaded with peacocks. The only problem is again, like Weston, a lot of those lakes are private residential. But very big peacock have been pulled out of there. 8-10 lb pea's are not unheard of. 15lb is a real stretch.

South Fl Freshwater Fishing Is Like A Box Of Chocolate....
Florida record for peacock we saw was a tad under 10lbs which is a big peacock bass for us down here in Fl. But 15lbs?? a little far fetched. Could be a simple misidentification of fish weight, and that occurs often. But many of those lakes in West Broward do hold some nice big peacocks. One of the members on here who lives out in West Miramar avatar is 10lb peacock. I have not seen him post for a while. As far as the weight of the pea I caught, my scale was acting up but by my estimate that fish was pushing 4.5 to 5.5lb. Fought like 7lb LMB, but with 30lb braid and great reel it was no match, I just waited it out until it was ready to be lipped. Even then, it still fought. Very feisty fish.

Stupid Question Of The Day
No prob.

Frog Question
Just fish it. Do not get caught up on walking it. That will come with time. The area that you are describing sounds like a nice place to fish the frog.

Stupid Question Of The Day

AK, those are not hollow body frogs, the frogs that BP10 is offering are like the zoom horny toads or rage toads. They are designed to be buzzed on top of the water. You will like them. The strikes are as vicious because the bass has to chase the frog down. If you don't like them, I will take them off your hands.

Caught My First Frog Fish
Loudcherokee, those are the best strikes. Congrats on your first frog catch. Now your hooked. No pun intended.

Failed Hook Set Problem
Your original set up sounds fine to me. M/H rod is a strong rod. You also mentioned brackish water. Multiple fish species inhabit that type of water, so they may not have been bass pecking at your worm. Also keep in mind you are also fishing with braid in water with barnacles. Barnacles are the kryptonite for many fishing lines especially braid.

Rod And Reel Question
I agree with what was said above. Go to the biggest retailer that is closest to you and have at it. Try out the top five rods that you have researched and gets your attention and go check them out. Even better, take your reel with you and see how the weight and balance feels with each rod. Good luck. Look at carbonlite's, at BPS if one is close to you. They are half the price of your current budget.

Frog Fishing Help?
Fortunately, you got the knot out because you may have been starting another thread on how a bass broke some piece of your equipment again. LOL.

Oakley Vs Costa
I cannot give you a fair comparison because I never have used Oakley's. I have used Costa's for several years now and I never leave home without them. They are awesome to say the least. I can also vouch for their CS. I have had to return two pairs for wear and tear issues over the years and all I have had to due is send them $10 or $12 (I forget) plus $5 USPS box and I get a brand new pair in about 2 weeks. Not bad considering the glasses cost over $200.

Frog Fishing Help?
AK, I call those strikes slurps. The bass slurp them like expensive oysters. Not that I have tried one, they do not look to appealing.

I tell you what August is going to be interesting. It's going to be HOT and water levels down here in the South are HIGH. Not the best of combo's.

I like the name of the club, what about Florida Bragging Club? I looked it up, Alex_bassman came up with the idea originally, I have not seen him post for a while but look how long his idea has been running for.

Dynomyte, welcome aboard. I am curious how many thread stalkers are out there following this thread. It will be cool if we had more people get on board. It's fun with the people who are currently participating but I am sure there are many more out there who want to "play" sort of speak. For everyone else reading, are we having an August competition?? If so, I do not want any ninjas to appear. Meaning people just come out of nowhere and want to play. Play is open to anyone in Florida, however I feel, and the rest of you please chime in, that you have to announce your intention to play. Also, keep in mind this is a sharing and learning competition. Participants have to share general region, (not your "spot" unless you want to) and time of day. I find the sharing of baits and techniques are helpful too. Current participants, share your input and let us know if what I mentioned makes sense. Lastly, I gotta say. I had a blast this month. Yes, it was extremely hot, tough, frustrating, challenging, but finally fun. You guys made me get out of my comfort zone and try new locations. I got kicked out of the best spot but either way I picked up new ideas. Thanks for helping me grow as a fisherman. I still have a lot to learn and share. Looking forward to next month. ..... and AK you have a bullseye on your back...... lol. Great job this month. Congrats if you win.

Frog Fishing Help?
I have found that in some instances working the frog aggressively and with a lot of commotion elicits an aggressive strike in return. Pop the frog hard two - three times in succession then pause. Then pop it 1-2 times hard and wait see what happens. The strike will usually occur on the second pause, or in the middle of one of the pops. You gotta change the way you frog sometimes. When I stumbled across this technique I caught 3 bass totaling 13lbs in less than 30 min.

Thanks DynoMyte, I have not caught a peacock like that in years. I think it maybe a personal best. My scale was acting up again, but it is beautiful, solid fish.
