  1. I'm located near Lowell, MA
  2. Hey everyone, I recently pulled out the fishing rod and tackle box and headed to a few local ponds in the area. I tried just about everything - topwater frogs, crankbaits, wacky rigged worms, live worms, etc. and didn't catch a single bass. I caught a couple sunfish but that's not what I'm aiming for. I was wondering what the best way to fish in this coldish (55-70 degree fahrenheit) is/what the best lures and baits are. I'm mainly fishing small ponds about 30 minutes north of Boston and don't own a boat. Any information helps, and thanks a lot for reading! Brian
  3. Hey y'all Earlier today I did some fishing with my new topwater frog lures. I got three frogs, two being snag proof in white and chartreuse, and the other being a matzuo in green. All the bass were eyeing the lures and following it, but I only got one bite and it didn't even hook on. Does anyone have any tips to make these suckers work well? I fished it using the pause and retrieve method, very slowly. Any advice helps, and thanks a lot.
  4. I'm using worms and a real small hook.. probably a 1/4
  5. Hey y'all - I fish a little pond and all I catch are these tiny baby bullhead catfish, probably no more than 3 inches in length. There are TONS of these little suckers in the pond, pretty much every cast I catch one. I'm wondering this - if there are loads of baby catfish in the pond, doesn't it mean that there are big cats in it too? I still have yet to catch one but I'm thinking its possible. The pond is really murky, but has some lily pads in the center and some tree cover on the sides. Any input at all helps me out greatly! Thanks!
  6. Okay thanks for the suggestions! To provide a little more information, I fish in the morning to afternoon hours when the temperature is in the high 70's and 80's. The pond I fish is kind of murky, but not completely. Its kinda half and half. Also, theres a lot of lily pads that are pretty hard to get to, but also some shallow water with tree branches over it. Lots of fallen trees around the perimeter. Hopefully with this info y'all can make some more suggestions, and thanks to everyone who leaves a response! It's greatly appreciated!
  7. Okay thanks for all the feedback! Another question - what is the best colored Senko worm to use? I've heard good things about watermelon with gold flakes. Anyone else have some good luck with other colors?
  8. Hey y'all, I'm still new to bass fishing and I wanna know what the best lures are for bass fishing in ponds. I have used a topwater Jitterbug by Arbogast as well as a swimming minnow lure. If anyone has other suggestions or insight that work well, it would be much appreciated!
  9. Hey all - Just wondering if you can use baby bullhead catfish as bait for any sort of fish. I recently discovered a new pond in my area that is full of them, and I was thinking about using them for bait for bigger cats of possibly some largemouths. Any ideas/input??
