I have used a $70 brush from Iwata and now use a $19 dual action from Harbor Freight Tools. There is ZERO difference between the two. Unless you count the $50.
  2. Sorry about the blurry pics.
  3. Another good on is www.barlowstackle.com.
  4. I use two "tried and true" coleman thermoses, (or is it Thermosi)I mix the cream and sugar in the themos at the house. If I launch at 5a.m., the second thermos is still hot at noon if it has been left alone.
  5. I was thinking about "Slippery Nipple". I thinks it's the name of a drink, but I kindda' like it.
  6. If you don't want the bench, you could try mounting a few gussets from the floor to the walls at 18 inch intervals. I would make them 12"x12" and you could take out alot of the 'meat' by cutting them with smooth curves. I'm in the process of building a 14 ft. flat-bottom, and that's what I'm doing to avoid a center bench.
  7. Awesome. That looks sweet. I'm working on building a boat the exact same size and I've been thinking of what colors to paint it. I like the way that blue and white look together. This is where I'm at with it now.
  8. No new pics yet. I've been too busy at work, but I will post them as soon as I have made some progress.
  9. I just wait for one of my friends to say 'lets go fishin', and then I just hop into whatever they are driving. ;D
  10. I am right in the middle of building my boat. It will have a platform in front, and plenty of storage compartments. It is 14' long and has a 54" beam.
  11. Hey Chris, I think you were suppose to put a period after the word "incorrect"........lol
  12. I use a chefs glove with the intergrated steel mesh. I have a nasty "wussy reflex" that I have never been able to get rid of. The glove alows me to handle catfish without dropping them like a girl. It was $8 at Wally World.
  13. It doesn't matter how fancy the vessel. I would be just as happy on a raft made of sticks than enything else, as long as I was on the water. It is the most relaxing thing in the world for me, even when the fish ain't bittin'. I didn't get anything back on my taxes so I have to build my own boat (another thread). Nice boat j-bass. I'm jealous.
  14. Nope. I used a special wood bending grease my grandpa told me about. It was called "elbow". I nailed it at the bow, then threw everything I could find on top of it to bend it, car battery, rims, even the table saw I was using. I left those on until the Gorilla Glue cured fully (24 hours). Don't let anyone tell you that that stuff doesn't work. This is the proof.
  15. I used 3/8" AC pine. I will be covering the hull, inside and out, with epoxy and 6 oz. fiberglass cloth. It will be painted white and red and sealed with 4 or 5 coats of polyurethane. A friend just gave me the trailer for free, it just need tires and new lights and bunkers.
  16. I was able to start my boat this past weekend. She will be 14' with a 54" beam. I plan on putting in a front pitchin' platform, two benches with storage, and I'll fill all of the dead spaces with floatation foam. From here on out, I will be accepting advice donations. More pics to come.
  17. You can cheak out www.myjonboat.com They have some pretty good ideas with storage and platforms.
  18. http://www.unclejohns.com/jonboat/default.htm <------This is where I got the plans. I would have made this an acual link if I had that kind of computer skills.
  19. It's almost a must to practice the "trailer walk". I have a 50 foot mooring rope, and after I get my trailer in the water, I walk the boat from the dock to the ramp like a lazy Great Dane, and then pull like hell. I can always get it close to the rachet strap with no problem.
  20. Oh yes. You will get SICK of seeing pics of my progression. Also, I just found out that all of the things that I need (lights, seats, etc.) are 1/2 price at Walley World.
  21. I am planning on building a wooden jon boat and was wondering if anyone has had any experience in this arena. I am mostly concerned with weight distibution (batteries, gas tank, etc.)[/size]
