#%@##$ ranting!
Do you have renter's insurance? I sure hope so man. If you do all of your electronics stuff, furniture, clothes, cds and dvds, and area rugs should be covered under it. Man that sucks bad...hope things work out for ya. I can't believe the apartment complex didn't send an emergency crew on the double to help minimize any damage that would occur allowing the water to sit that long.

Estimated bills, you might be getting ripped off.
We just recently had this happen to us. Our water bill is normally pretty low, but it suddenly spiked to like $70. We immediately called the Water company and they said the bill was estimated. They sent a technician out to gte an accurate reading and found that we owed far less. Since we had already paid our bill they offered a credit on our next bill that would reflect the correction that should have appeared on the previous bill. Also, I don't know who anyone else gets their water from, but the company we go through (Missouri American Water) is offering a free installation of an outdoor meter so that you don't have to read your meter to them every month. Instead thay can sned a technian over monthly to get an accurate read and eliminate any threat of estimated bills. (or so they say... :)

Staple soft plastic colors
I like to keep my colors more on the natural to dark side. I tend to gravitate towards greens, browns, blacks, blues, and reds. Of course there are some exceptions to these choices such as flukes and trickworms. The main colors you would find in my bag are as such: Watermelon Watermelon/Red flake (or black flake) Green Pumpkin Pumpkin Pumpkin/Chartreuse Black/Blue Black/Red The exceptions are as such: White (flukes and trickworms) Merthiolate (trickworms) Orange variations (crawdad colors, Mainly Yum CrawBugs and Netbaits Paca Craws) Junebug (Ikas and other various plastics)

how cold is it???
I was driving with the wife to the grocery store on Saturday and we had to cross over the MO River at the Page Extension heading into St. Peters. The river appeared to be moving, so I didn't really think much about it. But, when we were on our way home, you could see the low sun reflecting off the thin sheet of ice that appeared to cover MOST of the MO River that I could see from the bridge. Now THAT is freakin' cold. I HATE @#$%&!@ WINTERTIME!!!!!!!!! >

Wierd buzz bait??
That thing just looks rediculous. How does it hold up in a fight with a bass? I would imagine with that looooooooooong wire it would get bent to crap pretty quickly and then would pretty much be junk since it wouldn't realy run straight anymore. Is this the case? Or does it hold up pretty well?

Biggest bass
Same here...where are all the pics of these monsters?

Quality Polarized Sunglasses
Here is thread that was posted not long ago that may help answer some folks questions concerning lens colors for sunglasses. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1169437336 I am still looking for a good pair of sunglasses, but I am not sure if I want to order them online. I would much rather be able to buy them in person so I can test them out and make sure they fit me properly.

How often do you guys find Lures?
I usually don't really bother looking for lures while I'm out fishing. However, I do sometimes stumble upon one while switching spots. I have found a perfectly good Mepps Aglia Roster Tail that got caught in some bushes on the bank and I have found a Baby Bomber A Crank that was hanging from a tree that was in good shape. Other than that most of the stuff I find is in pretty bad shape and I just throw it and any line it may be attached to in the closest trash can.

Great Buy...but could be bad news..
The Wal-Mart I went to in St. Peters, MO didn't have a single clearance item in the whole fishing dept. Maybe they already got cleaned out. :-? In fact, two store associates were in the process of restocking the fishing aisles. Hmmmmmmm...Maybe I'll go check a few more Wally Worlds in the area.

Colors that Bass See?
Um...I'm pretty sure bass are very different from dogs and cats...sorry...don't see the comparison. Anyway...In a recent thread Chris created called "Hooking the Gullible", he posted a link to a very interesting article. I will copy and past that article here, because it spoke of this very subject at the end of the article, though I recommend you read the whole thing. I do not think bass can see color. They can see a few, shades of red and green. Everything else is viewed as shades or gray. Here is the link to the article: http://se02.xif.com/articles/20040424/bob8.asp

Wal-Mart
I just went to the Wal-Mart in St. Peters here and didn't see a single red tag anywhere. In fact two sporting goods employees were in the process of restocking the shelves. And I was looking forward to some good deals. Is this pertaining to ALL Wal-Marts...or just some of them? :-?

Crankbaits fished like jerkbaits
I have noticed that a lot more lately. There have been a lot of older posts resurfacing. I'm glad to see peeps are getting the hang of using the search feature or taking the time to search through threads for what they are looking for. Not to say that I mind answering a repeat thread, cuz I have no problem with that. Sometimes I just think that it is equally beneficial for a new member or an older member to do a search on the subject to gather info from some members who may no longer be here or something that may be missed in a new thread.

How Many Lures Do You Lose?
I lose a TON of lures. I need to make a BPS run and stock back up. I never lose topwater (for obvious reasons). Everything else though...boy...I lose a ton. I do all of fishing from the bank, most of the spots I fish have a lot of laydowns with a ton of off-shooting branches, a buncha old fishing line usually weaved through them in any conceivable way from previous fisherman losing stuff, and a lot of heavy rock and grass (in the spring, summer, and fall) in the area. All that cover doesn't deter me one bit from throwing whatever I want. I lose a buncha cranks, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, jigs, etc. etc. I have tried plug knockers, but they don't work so well from the bank...especially through cover. I usually lose the lures to deep for a telescoping lure retriever to work. If I am losing lures, I just usually chalk it up as a donation to the Fishing Gods. My wife gets more angry about me losing them than I do. She just can't stand the fact that I spend $3-$14 on a lure only to possibly lose it and have to go replace it. She HATES that. I just tell her: Can't catch 'em if ya ain't willing to throw into the nasty stuff...she hates that too. :

There will be a couple thousand more from me before it's all said and done I am sure.

jig with or with out trailer
Always use a trailer here as well. It would be kinda weird not to.

Favorite Bass Cover
For me, the type of cover is not as important as what is close to the cover. I'll fish ANY type of cover I can find, but I like the cover to have deeper water close by. I believe that cover that has deeper water for a fish to retreat to nearby is much more likely to hold fish. Most of the cover I fish in this area is wood(stumps and laydowns), weeds(emergent and submerged), and chunk rock. Those are the most common, though, like I said, I'll fish ANY TYPE I can get a lure to.
-
To rattle or Not to rattle (jigs)
I use rattles in heavy cover or in chocolate milk muddy water. Most of the jigs I have purchased do come with rattle that you can put on and take off whenever you feel like it. If the water is clear I never use 'em as I fear they may spook fish. After reading Mr. Hannon's explanation of a bass' lateral line, I too wonder of the effectiveness of rattles. My question is this: If the bass can not hone in on vibrations or noise, can they hone in on water displacement that a lure creates? Is water displacement different from vibration? If more water displacement equates to more hook ups then that could be an argument to leaving the rattle on, if nothing else to create more bulk on the lure and displace a little more water.

Call it crazy but whats the best Shoe/Sandle?
I'd be concerned that if I were fishing barefoot outta the boat that either myself or someone else in the boat with me would accidentally leave out a lure or a hook and it would end up in my foot. I usually wear an old pair of tennis shoes or a pair of crocs I have. On a side note, how funny would it be to hear Zona on Bassmasters comment on one of the pros shoes and then upon that pro catching a fish Zona would say..."Is it the shoes?!?" Well...I thought it was funny.

The hot back(weedless crank)
I dunno. I like a good crankbait just as much as the next guy, in fact, for me, they are one of my go to baits. But if you are fishing IN the weeds, I just think there are better lures out there that are better suited to fishing in weeds. If I am fishing IN the weeds and not just above them I will use a Booyah Swimin' Jig. Comes through the weeds nicely and is a pretty good fish catcher.
