Powell Endurance 755
I absolutely love my Powell endurance. The one thing that bothered me was how inconsistent their resin application was on the guides/blanks. A lot of them seemed to have chips, bubbles, etc. Not that this effects performance but it could cause problems that need to be fixed later. If they could spend a little more time making these rods and remedy this I would never buy a rod from another company.

Shimano Cumara Vs. Phenix Recon
So I am going to be buying a Heavy action punching rod. The Shimano Cumaras will be down to approx 125 dollars on Labor Day and the Phenix rods will be on sale but not as cheap. I am wondering if any of you Shimano/Phenix guys have some opinions on why you like one over the other or just why you like your rod. The phenix I can get in a 7'6" or a 7'10" where as the Cumara would be a 7'7". Is a Cumara for this cheap something I shouldn't pass up?

Alcohol Recommendation?
Four roses single barrel Kentucky straight bourbon is great and not too expensive.

New Spinning Rod Advice
I like Phenix and Powell. Phenix makes a 7'2" M spinning rod (PHX-S723M) rated from 1/8th-1/2oz. It meets all the other specifications you are asking for. Retails for about 170 before tax on TW. These rods are 36 ton toray blanks, sic guides, dense eva foam grips, and the black on black looks clean. They come with a cover and look JDM-esque overall. I am going to be buying a punching rod from them as well soon they are a pretty sweet company.

Good Flurocarbon For Spinning Reels?
I threw on some Power Pro 20lb w/ an 8# fluoro leader on my spinning setup :/ I always end up spending a little cash if I browse for too long on this website. Hopefully this does well for finesse. I read the packages and the diameter of the 20# braid and my 8# fluorocarbon were equal so it seemed like the right choice to pair up.

Good Flurocarbon For Spinning Reels?
Do you guys like Power Pro Spectra, Sufix 832, or Sufix Performance better? I hear all of the braids bleed slightly and fade over time. Has anyone used any of these and love it or can you not go wrong?

Flippin', Pitchin', Punchin'/swimbait Setup?
I'll take a look today, thank you. I'll consider this rod but I am thinking I want to step away from Powell for the time being. I want to try other highly recommended brands and decide later if I will continue buying a specific brand.

Flippin', Pitchin', Punchin'/swimbait Setup?
I like the Phenix because of the 2 1/2oz rating. So I feel like I would be able to throw at least a 2oz swim bait. Nothing major.. but it might be fun. It would however be a punching and flip/pitch rod. I think it covers those bases. The dobyns are nice but even at a discount its too much for my taste.

Good Flurocarbon For Spinning Reels?
How do you guys that are advocating braid like the braid for finesse applications? Do you feel its sensitive enough and manageable? I've never used braid before so I am now wondering. How long of a leader do you tie? Do you finesse with your spinning gear? I usually bring out my spinning rod to flick shake/drop shot/fly line plastics... or for any other light baits I am using.

Flippin', Pitchin', Punchin'/swimbait Setup?
I am looking at a new set up for all the the things listed in the title. I have been looking at the phenix recons in 7'6" H and 7'9" H. I am 5'9" so do you think a shorter rod would be a good call or should I be fine with something in the 8' range? I am not sure what type of reel to go with except that it has to be fast gear ratio and left handed. Since I have yet to try a bait caster from shimano the chronarch 201e7 was the first reel that came to mind. I am wondering if I should put 50-70lb braid on here and what kind of flour leader I would be using. Also I am hoping this rod would be able to work for swim baits as well. Versatility is easier on my pockets. Any thoughts/suggestions? The Phenix rods are on the high end of what I want to pay for this type of rod already and I am open to different reels as well. I already have a Lews TP/Powell Endurance and an Abu Garcia Premier/Duckett Micro Magic and a few of you know I want to try different things. Thanks for reading!

Micro Guide Rod Covers
So I am going to order some rod covers for my bait casters and one spinning rod. They are the mesh kind and I was wondering if anyone has tried the micro guide rod gloves. I have a duckett micro magic and a powell endurance. Is there a difference between the two types of rod gloves (micro and original) besides the price tag? Also do these covers work well for spinning rods or are they a pain? Thanks for reading.

Ima Roumba Rattle Vs Original
I was wondering if anyone here has tried both or had success with one. I have been getting bit on a Jackall zero footer but it has an internal rattle. I wanted to try this because its larger but I was also wondering if I should go with a silent original to see if it get more bites. Is it possible the rattle could spook potential fish where as a silent one may provoke more reaction strikes?

Rod Covers?
I was wondering if anyone uses their rod gloves on micro guided rods such as the duckett micro magic. I have one of these in a 7ft M and I am wondering if the 2 dollars extra is necessary or I can get away with just a standard rod glove.

Rod Covers?
I have reel covers from TW.. love em! I just transport my rods in the car a lot. I don't have a boat yet just a float tube. I figured these would allow me to rig up the night before and illiminate tangles. Also I was hoping it would offer a little protection for the guides and the rod itself.

Rod Covers?
yeah these are the kind I'm looking at in the 6-8 dollar range ea. btw BASSclary my second Powell endurance came in the mail. TW replaced the first no questions asked. This new one has a crack where the guide meets the rod and when you press on the guide the crack widens (I didn't even get to use this rod!!!). I'm calling Powell tomorrow.. I really like these rods but Im wondering why I have received two with defects at the resin over the guides.

Rod Covers?
I have a 60 dollar giftcard to tw and I don't really need anything in particular. However, I do need rod covers and I was wondering which ones you guys like/use? The rod glove seem like the popular brand.

Duckett White Ice Casting Rods
Yeah on tackle warehouse each rod has a pro's name and what it's meant for written underneath. Seems pretty straight forward though.

Duckett White Ice Casting Rods
Anyone thinking about purchasing one of these? I have a 7' M micro magic and I love it. These have the ultra micro guides and no taper/line/lure cap listed either.

Thinking About Purchasing A New Mh/h Baitcaster
Just to vent to you guys. I went with the 723C endurance rod. I used it for a day and absolutely loveeeee it. However, I was inspecting the guides and noticed the resin around the second guide from the reel seat had an air pocket and I ran my finger over it and it began to chip away that easily. I imagine this will continue to get worse so I'll be exchanging it for another. It really bums me out because I have terrible luck with manufacturing defects. This doesn't change the fact that I am totally amazed by Powell's rod. Hopefully all goes well with the return/exchange. Thanks for edging me on to check out this company I plan on buying more from them.

Lews Tournament Pro Vs Shimano Cronarch 200E
You don't have to get the Lews TP on ebay to get it for 160. A lot of online tackle websites price match. I was just stuck deciding between the exact same reels in question. I went with the Lews and although it is a slightly noisier reel it's very smooth, much smaller, and lighter. I do think you get a better warranty with Shimano vs Lews. Although the Lews does have more performance in a smaller cheaper package. Weigh your options. I'm sure I'll be buying a shimano as my next bait casting reel just to try everything and see what the hype is (or isn't) about. You really can't go wrong with either decision.

Reel Talk (Pun Intended)
Yeah its the Lew logo.. stuck on with some cheap glue. It looks better w/o it though. I took it out this morning to a little pond and fished from shore. Theres only a couple shore spots that get a lot of pressure so it can be tough at times there but I set the hook on one and the drag wasn't high enough before I could reel up the slack and set the hook again with the drag set higher he jumped and spit the hook out hahah. So far I'm loving it though. The reels smooth and I was able to cast clear across the lake from my spot into the thick stuff.
