Shimano Curado 50E Manufacture Differences
Thank you for posting the pictures it doesn't look like there's a notch that would bother. The problem I am wondering about is http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&sa=X&biw=1161&bih=486&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=tCH1XvPNyA17vM:&imgrefurl=http://www.anglergear.net/shimano-curado-e/&docid=4XNO2XOfeAelMM&imgurl=http://www.anglergear.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/Shimano-Curado-50-and-200-E.jpg&w=450&h=258&ei=OoJZULLjD-rJ0AGfqYHoDA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=238&vpy=196&dur=1083&hovh=170&hovw=298&tx=147&ty=94&sig=113392213971778946299&page=1&tbnh=89&tbnw=155&start=0&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0,i:81 If you can see that notch sticking out on the bottom right. Does yours have that notch and is it in the way?

Shimano Curado 50E Manufacture Differences
Is there any differences between the curado 50e series made in 2010, 2011, and 2012? I've read of a palm rest issue of there being a notch that pushes into the palm in versions besides the 2012 manufactured reel. Is this true and if so, should I only look for the 2012 version? Thanks, Skel

Reel For My Loomis 893C Jwr
That's an interesting idea. Does the supertune really add a lot to performance? And does it make the reel heavier?

Reel For My Loomis 893C Jwr
Thank you for the recommendation. How does this compare against other reels in its category? Most notably the Abu Garcia MGX (7.9:1 version).

Reel For My Loomis 893C Jwr
I decided to keep this rod and now I am outrodded. I need a reel to pair with it. Does anyone have any comments on what would pair well with this rod in terms of balance and matching its light weight capabilities? I will be fishing wacky Senkos, t-rigs, and jigs up to 3/8 oz. I am looking to spend $200 or less and I am willing to buy used so I guess that leads to reels that are in the $250 range as well. Thank you for the help and I look forward to hearing your comments!

Lew's Tp Or Chronarch?
If you think about it as an imperfect sphere spinning. Perhaps a basketball with a lump in it. When it spins along an axis, it will certainly wobble. This wobble will cause the rotational forces to not maintain the same energy levels compared to a perfect sphere. The centrifugal brakes would work in a similar fashion if unbalanced. I agree with you about that not causing issues with the reel, but I have noticed there to be a differences in casting behavior between the two. The primary action of the brakes is the initial throw of those pins extending, so the differences are subtle since this will occur in both unbalanced and balanced systems and will result in similar energy loss to the spinning spool. That action is the centrifugal brakes primary action, to slow the front end of the cast. I feel that is why many do not want their centrifugal brakes slowing any other part of the cast. I tested the same exact idea. I would like to hear if you notice any differences. As far as which one to choose, you are going to have to match the features and decide which are important to you. If you just can't decide I would just choose the one that you prefer aesthetically. I don't think you can go wrong with this one. There are not many unsatisfied customers on either side.

Lew's Tp Or Chronarch?
Which chronarch are you looking to get? The 200e or 50e? Either way, I think the white on white would look really cool.

Opinions On G Loomis Nrx 893C And Imx Mbr 844C
So a light reel would be best? I probably will go with that or a curado 50e since light baits will be tossed. Curious as for why you sold the IMX? (question I am facing) Thank you guys for clearing that up. Some stress relieved there. It has to make one wonder about quality control though on such an expensive product.

Opinions On G Loomis Nrx 893C And Imx Mbr 844C
Hopefully you are right. I believe I read that as well. The confusion, I believe, is because someone could know there's does not have the issues if it was green. Hence, it could be assumed the greens replaced the blues. I have read of people sending in blues and getting blues back unless they were back ordered. Reading between the lines makes me believe they are making new blues. I could be wrong though, I hope not. Has anyone ever weighed these rods? And what reels match up nice and balance well with the NRX and IMX?

Opinions On G Loomis Nrx 893C And Imx Mbr 844C
Thank you. Your responses and prior ones have been very helpful. Reading back on some of your posts, it appears as though the IMX and Legend tournament are somewhat comparable, where you give the edge to St. Croix. I have a recently acquired LTB70MHXF and as others have mentioned it plays heavier than some other Mfg. MH. So, I am starting to question if the IMX has a place for me right now. Is it unreasonable to use the legend tournament for heavier jigs and plastics while using the NRX for lighter? I bought these as a pair and I am thinking it may be favorable to part with the IMX and get a GLX/NRX or Elite/xtreme in a longer heavier version, since it will be for frogging and bottom-contact use where the jump in sensitivity and length matters Wow, extremely helpful post. Sounds like either way I look at it I couldn't go wrong with the NRX. I have some copoly along with braid and Fluoro. It probably will give me a good chance to answer my old poll question about line vs. rod for what matters most for sensitivity. I hope I don't have the first 6 month NRX's. Is there a way to tell? Thanks for the time you put in to answer my questions and help me out. And that thanks extends to you as well as everyone who has commented.

Opinions On G Loomis Nrx 893C And Imx Mbr 844C
Thank you for your response and observations. That is interesting about the GLX, it sounds like a very nice rod! Would it be best to use the NRX with Fluoro, since I will be light jig fishing and light plastics with it and to use the IMX with braid since it will be my frog rod and used for the heaviest of applications? Do I have to worry at all about any issues with using these rods with braid if I choose to? Such as the guides not matching up well. Furthermore, is there any difference between the newer manufactured models of these rods compared to earlier manufactured versions? That being, these rods are still new in their plastic I would assume a newer manufacture date. Lastly, what are the common differences between these Loomis rods and other comparable rods in their price ranges, such as St. Croix offerings? Thank you everyone for your input. It is really helping with my understanding and decision making.

St. Croix Legend Extreme?
If you search around you will find that rods sub $100 are very preferential to the individual. There are so many choices out there and there is not a solid consensus on which is the best. Many people have the Mojo's and love them. To say they are junk and/or comparable to a "sapling with a line on it" is rather unrepresentative.

What are the differences you experienced between the two? And thank you for your comments I am glad you are happy with your NRX.

Opinions On G Loomis Nrx 893C And Imx Mbr 844C
Thanks Quill. It sounds like the NRX is fairly versatile then. I also found a good deal and got both of these rods brand new. I have read reviews regarding the NRX and people often comment on its sensitivity being great. Do you find this to be true? Also, what type of line were you using with the NRX and GLX while jigging?

St. Croix Legend Extreme?
It's not fair to examine a mojo than claim that St. Croix rods are junk.I also have picked up the in store brands of St. Croix and had the same opinions. But once you step up to the higher end St. croix's that surely changes. My Legend Tournament Bass 7' MHXF is a great rod as far as I am concerned. It is not flimsy, heavy, or any of the comments you mentioned. Actually, it has an extremely fast tip and is stouter than its rated. I am sure all the rods made by them at this level or above are top notch. Although my experience is only with this rod and it is a 2011 model, I do not see how any of their newer rods would not be great rods. The same concept should be held for all companies. One should not take one of the cheapest models and think its a representative of the companies higher end products. There is a reason the legend series retail for far much more, one usually gets what they pay for. Read the reviews others post about specific models and you will see there is only great things said about the St. Croix xtremes. And at the prices the bargain room is offering, it is tough to not give them some serious consideration if they have the model you want available.

Thanks RW! Can the NRX be used for light jigs (1/4 and 3/8) as well as what you mentioned? Does the NRX perform up to its price tag? I have to ask because these are brand new and unused.

Newb Question About Reels
I would like to add that for techniques where you take in slack line, such as many t-rigging or soft plastic techniques, a faster gear ratio is preferred. This is so you an take in the slack line quickly and sometimes the bass will grab the bait and move towards you and having the higher speed reels help with that also. Also, note that the faster the gear ratio the less power or torque the reel has. That most notably comes into play when retrieving deep diving crankbaits. One's arm can tire out quickly trying to reel those with a 7:1 gear ratio.

Opinions On G Loomis Nrx 893C And Imx Mbr 844C
Thank you for your comments from personal experience! How is the IMX as far as sensitivity and how does it compare with other rods at its price point? Also, how does it balance and is it a bette rod than my LTBC70MHXF? I bought both of these rods together as a pair and I am wondering if I should keep them or not. I read that the IMX 844c is rated as heavy, but actually plays out more like a MH is this true? If so, which would be a better jig rod, the IMX 844c or the St. Croix LTBC70MHXF? Furthermore, is the NRX 893c good to use as a jig rod in addition to using it for weightless senkos and such. I am talking about jigs in the 1/4 oz to 3/8 range with a rage tail trailer. What exactly does the NRX 893c do so well at, and what should it be used for?

Opinions On G Loomis Nrx 893C And Imx Mbr 844C
What is the general opinion on each of these rods and what their strengths and weaknesses are? Is the IMX a nice rod and what should I use it for. Also, with the NRX what should it be used for? Does anybody own these and can comment on their balance, sensitivity, feel crispness and overall impression of each of the rods I listed? I am trying to decide if I should keep them or not and I have no clue about the IMX and how good of a rod it is. Thanks everyone, your replies will go a long way to seeing how they will fit in with my Powell Max 683c and St. Croix LTBC70MHXF/11.

Phenix Recon 715 Vs. Powell Endurance 714
Thank you, I had not seriously considered. Therefore, I changed the comparison. How much does the endurance weigh? And has anyone used the recon? I have not heard much about them.

Phenix Recon 715 Vs. Powell Endurance 714
So I am looking for a heavy powered rod and reading some threads I found out that this rod weighs only 3.65 ounces. I feel like that is extremely light for a rod of this type. Is the Powell or Phenix a better rod for throwing jigs in cover, frogging, etc. What is the general opinion between these two and heavy powered rods in the sub $200 price range?

Big O Jig Sale!!!
I love these jigs. I've bought about 30 or so jigs from Siebert outdoors and they are top notch. The Big O series are by far my favorite. The hook design is awesome and very strong. The skirt selection is many. I personally like the falcon lake and the senko77 both with the copperhead paint for the head. It matches extremely well and caught my first fish on these!

St. Croix Rod Bargain -- Steel Steel Steel!!
Great Reply thank you! So the 7' MF is the most versatile of the ones left. I have many 1/4 oz jigs that I will use baby rage craws with. Would this rod be ideal for those lighter jigs, or would I be settling? My powell Max 683c Is a mhxf rated rod but is not as fast or stout as my 70mhxf LTB. I have been using that for my lighter jigs. Would the Xtreme 7'mf be better for the 1/4 oz jigs I mentioned? And would I be seeing a very noticeable difference in rod performance, more importantly sensitivity by using the Xtreme 7'mf for weightless plastics and light jigs over the powell Max. Or would I be better off saving money and investing on a different rod.

St. Croix Rod Bargain -- Steel Steel Steel!!
I have the LTBC70MHXF/11 for my heavier jigs and such, there are no more medium heavy rods left in the bargain room for casting except the 6'6 LTB MHF rod. Will the 68mxf be good for jigs as well as weightless senkos? Or would I be better going off with the XC70MF? What differences are there between the 610MXF and the 68MXF? So Cpt Bob, between the xtreme series left in the bargain room. You believe that the 68MXF is the best one left to purchase? Could someone please list the pros and cons to each of the following rods left that I am looking to purchase. I am just being cautious because this is a very expensive rod purchase for me. 1.) XC610MXF/12 2.) XC68MXF/12 3.)XC70MF/12 4.)XC66MHF/12 I threw in #4 to see what the differences would be against my medium heavy LTB 7' Help would be much appreciated as I am trying to get a great rod that I can use to compliment my LTBC70MHXF and my Powell 683c. Thank you so much! Skel
