  1. As a Penn State fan I've been wanting a uniform change for a long time now. It looks like it might happen soon.
  2. This thread reminded me of how cool it was reading "Roland Martin's 101 Bass-Catching Secrets." In it he talks about how cutting edge things like plastic worms, rapalas and spinnerbaits were.
  3. This made me laugh because the only time I spill stuff is when I'm at someones house for the first time.

    Welcome to the site
  5. Are the spinnerbait blades running right? If they aren't it will make it feel heavy.
  6. I really like the Alberto. I never had any problems with it and its easy to tie.
  7. I'm in the same boat but recently I bought some football head jigs, a chatterbait(mainly because I like jigs and spinnerbaits so it might be the best of two worlds) and some swim jigs just to see what happens.
  8. I got a decent deal on an ardent F500 which is a flip and pitch reel and I have to say I'm not a big fan of it. The only thing I probably like about it is the fact I dont' need to load up a ton of braid on it because it has a norrow spool and its made in the USA. What I don't like is its heavy and it has a fixed line eye. I imagine the f700 isn't much different but I don't know for sure. So the bottom line is I wouldn't recomend looking at the F500(just in case you were).
  9. This weekend I'm going to try the drop shot on my spinning gear for the first time. I can't wait to see what happens. Also I finally bought my first chatterbait and my first swim jig so I'm not sure which one I want to fish first on my baitcater. I've been catching bass on both a normal jig and also on a spinnerbait at the place I'm going so I'm thinking of using the chatterbait. But no matter what I can't wait to try these out. So if anyone has any tips or secrets for a first timer let me know.
  10. I learned to cast on an old abu garcia and a 5'6 lews speed stick (see profile pic). Now that I'm back into fishing I bought a TS1SH and absolutely love it. I can see myself being a lews die hard in the future.
  11. Hey Guys, I'm originally from Scranton, Pa where I grew up fishing. My dad and I used to make our own spinnerbaits and jigs and we had a good time fishing. Once I graduated from high school I joined the Army and pretty much stopped fishing. Even though I still had tons of old gear and baits I hardly fished for the past 15 years(I'm 36 now). I now live in New Mexico which really isn't a hot bed of bass fishing but a recent fishing trip has me all fired up again. The first bass I caught brought back that incredible feeling when my line went running. And now I'm ready to fish a lot more. This forum has been great for catching me up on all the things I've been missing or haven't learned yet. Thanks guys and I look forward to helping each other out,
  12. Yeah the commisions regulate this.
  13. I hate this. The reason I stopped watching boxing was because the best weren't fighting the best.
  14. Looks like Chris Weidman has the skills to take on Silva. I was impressed with his domination of Munoz.
  15. I think a big part of learning a baitcaster is making sure you have the reel handle up when casting with your right hand and only use your wrist to load the rod. Here is a great video
  16. I have the TS1SH and I love it. What I love most about it is the size and feel of the reel.
  17. Thanks guys. That actually clears a lot up for me. It sounds like Im going to enjoy having brakes for once.
  18. I just bought a TS1SH and I can't wait to try it out.
  19. No matter how much I read on here I can't understand what the functions of the brake system vs the spool tension system are. I've always used some version of an Abu Garcia 5000 so I've only experienced adjusting the spool tension. I recently ordered a Lew's TS1SH so I want to be prepared when it comes. I watched the video http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/92295-how-to-set-up-a-baitcaster/ but I guess I dont understand when and why I would want to adjust the brakes.
  20. I think I like the idea of a heavy punch rig on it, I recently started fishing a pond with heavy cover. Now I just need to put a reel on it.
  21. I came a across this brand new rod for free but I don't musky fish. Can I use this rod for jigging in heavy cover?
