  1. I keep a journal, and all my maps look like the kids got hold of them because there is so much writing on them.
  2. I was fishing with a guy who never shut up for eight hours while we were fishing. I don't talk much at all when I'm T'riggen or C'riggen, I try to concentrate on the feel of the bait so I don't miss a hit. Same thing when I'm topwater fishing, if I'm talking I seem to miss more fish.BUT I love to talk, so if I pick up a crankbait or spinner bait, you may want to tell me to shut up before I make that first cast! ;D
  3. call Mare's in Aquia and ask for Goldie, they use a guy near fredricksburg that works on trolling motors, and is supposed to be real good. Goldie will give you his #
  4. I want to go fish with the person who put over 11lbs. In VA. most of the fish we catch are up to 4lbs and we catch a few that are up to 7lbs. Over 7 is not common, that would be a heck of a nice fish. The pond fisherman catch the bigger fish around here.
  5. When I'm fishing a tournament, a keeper is whatever the rules state. BUT most of the time if you come in with just a limt of keepers around here you wont be in the money. The Potomac river is a 12" limt now and 5, 12" fish will only weigh about 4-7 pounds, but it takes over 17lbs to win a tournament. So to me keepers are whatever the rules state but it's always nice to have a few kickers in the livewell!!!
  6. By fishing a few big tournys. wont tell you much. you have to be abel to catch a bunch of fish as a guide. Most of the guides only fish during the week when there is less pressure on the water. I know a guide that has a real good reputation and stays booked. His tournament record is not good at all. Don't think just because you may bomb in a tournament that you will not be a succesful guide. GOOD LUCK
  7. 2004 GMC Yukon XL, 100,390 miles, about half with boat in tow ( 21' ) and I know its back there!!! >
  8. You are probably looking at a 18 or 19' boat in that price range. I'm not sure of the max. HP rating for that size boat. You may want to consider looking at the Bass Cats and the Stratos, there is alot of them on the water and with the Stratos you can cash in on their rewards program if you are going to fish tournaments. I had a Ranger 520 that cost me 34k four years ago, and last year I went to a 521 that was even more. You picked out the three most expensive boats that are on the water, but you should go and check out the other two I mentioned. Good Luck
  9. Why get rid of the smell :o
  10. You may want to call Stratos, they will tell you what pitch prop and the height you should be running. You may have to go to a 3 blade. My boat when I switched to a 4 blade same pitch prop, it made my RPM's go up and I hade to keep my jackplate down. If you are close to a lake, you may be able to take several diff. props out and mess around with them untill you find the one that makes your boat do what you want it to.
  11. Are you Fishing or on a date with your girlfriend? :-/ When I'm fishing I don't have time to drink anything until its time to move
  12. Duke, Don't be talked out of what YOU want. BUT you should get the boat with whatever upgrades you want now, down the road you'll be stuck giving away your old electronics, nobody will buy them and you should get the max. HP that the boat is rated for( nothing worse then underpowered boat ) GOOD LUCK, Look forward to seeing you on the water 8-)
  13. The battel has ended after two weeks. Progressive authorized all new parts from Yamaha and they are flipping the bill( less $250 deductable). This has been the worst dealings with an insurance company I've ever had.
  14. cgs, check your PM. I sent you the info!
  15. Yamaha don't do any refurbs or remans, only new. the refurbished comes with 30 day. If I put a new one on from Yamaha they said it would still be under the oring. 5yr warranty. The battel still rages on!!!!!
  16. A friend of mine just finished 2nd in a BASS weekend tourny. and won a 70# Motor Guied. He will be looking to sell it( his boat is to big for 70# ) if you are interested PM me and I'll give you his #. He may be able to get the motor sent directly to you.
  17. The boat is at a certified Yamaha dealer/ repair.
  18. I have a friend who has become sick with chatterbaitidous. He put down a Senko and picked up a chatterbait, now he cant stop. Please send HELP!!!! :-X :-X
  19. Progressive's adjuster tells me that it is their policy to use refurbished parts. The gloves are off and the fight is on. I can't stand to be defeated, stay tuned for round 2 > >
  20. I'd go to Wal-Mart and get an Everstart, then I would bring it back to them just before it ran out of warranty and exchange it ;D

Final Rule should read: if you are afraid of what your wife will say about fishing, get new wife!!!!
  22. No its not a warranty issue. Was fishing a tourny and got in a rush, didn't raise the jackplate and gassed on the motor, wooooooooops 14" of water w/ a piece of rebar stuck in the mud. Only caught the motor, not the boat!!!
  23. I screwed up my lower unit and took it to get fixed. The mechanic wants to put a new lower unit on and when the insurance adjuster got there he wants to put a refurbished unit on. The motor only has 47hours on it and is still under warranty from Yamaha. I told the insurance adjuster this would not be acceptable.( yamaha 250HPDI) What do you think? Oh my insurance is with Progressive >
  24. I just found this site the outher day and I think its a grate place for fishing junkies to exchange info and BS. Keepup the good work. GOOD FISHING ALL!!!! :)
