Price For Spinning Reels
Now that I've bought a CI4 I guess I've set a new bar for what kind of spinning reel I'll buy in the future but I do know that the Pflueger President I used for two years worked absolutely fine. It's the fetishization of sport fishing that happens because of web sites like these, the shows we watch and the pros we follow -- where our expectations of what we perceive to need is distorted. It's the same problem of every enthusiast subset. I own a Jeep and belong to a few Jeep forums. Even a Sahara Wrangler is pretty adequete for most off-roading but people who will never venture anywhere near Moab or The Hammer feel the need to spend ungodly sums of money upgrading their Rubicons -- already a beast off-road -- because they've joined a subset of a community where their expectations are distorted. So we have a world where even a Shimano Sienna spinning reel on a cheaper rod would probably meet the needs of most people even on this web site, we feel the need to buy higher end products. I don't know precisely what I was trying to say...just something that has been on my mind for a while. I'm certainly no less guilty at thinking that I need to spend $180 on a spinning reel when my $50 spinning reel caught a lot of fish.

I offer my condolences. Mostly for your bank account

What Do You Use To Store Your Plastic Baits?
I don't put them in there but I would be surprised if you couldn't squeeze at least four in the side pouches and another one in the front. If not the 3600, at least 3500s.

What Do You Use To Store Your Plastic Baits?
I have the same tackle bag and I can see you putting in 7 3700 style boxes if you're using the thin Plano 3700 boxes. That's how I have mine set up. Otherwise I could only put in five. At any rate, that's my tip. Get some of Plano's thin 3700 boxes for your worms and terminal gear. Should hold enough for at least one day.

When Did You Start?
I guess about 14 or 15. My father and grandfather were avid anglers but after my grandfather sold his camp and boat and moved across the country my father stopped fishing (I was a wee lad at the time). I only started fishing after a friend invited me up to his camp for a week. I found some of my grandfather's tackle, rod and reel and started on my financially ruinous journey to today over 25 years later.

White Rod Invisible To Fish?
I used to drive a BMW and this sounds like just the dbag thing that a BMW owner who works for Abu would probably say.

New Techniques
Drop shotting -- which I've never done -- and shakey head which I rarely do. This season I plan on doing more of both.

Tv Shows
Complaining about a fishing show trying to hawk product is like being disappointed a stripper only likes you because you bought a dance.

Here's My Battle With The Monkey - What Would You Do?
No, BPS is about 5 hours drive away so if I do buy from them it's usually online order. The only time I've ever been in BPS was in January when I was coming back from Toronto and stopped in to finally see what I was missing. As for withdrawal, I hear you. I went through a frenzy from January until about two weeks ago. It's expensive and I could have used that money more strategically down the line. Don't make the same mistake :-)

Here's My Battle With The Monkey - What Would You Do?
I'd be patient. Bass doesn't open up for months in Ontario so you can afford to take your time and get good deals on rods. Heck, BPS in Vaughn hasn't even had their rod trade-in yet...who knows what kind of deals you can get there.

Who Got New Combos Over The Winter?
Not as fancy as some of your rigs but: Replaced a Pflueger President reel on my worm and jig set up (Compre) with a Stradic CI4 2500 Shimano Caius on a Shimano Sellus topwater rod BPS Extreme on a Compre crankbait rod

Rick Clunn Talks Being In "the Zone" Intuition And More
Guy just might be ultra-zen. Cliff Pace won the Classic and his post-tourney press conference barely registered on the emotion-meter. Different strokes for different folks. Stick in the mud or not, I'd be more than happy to fish with Rick Clunn as I'm pretty sure he forgets more about bass fishing every minute than most guys will know in their lives.

What Kind Of Fisherman Are You!!!!
I tend to hit shallow water cover (though I suppose shallow needs to be defined as well) predominantly with finesse or cranks. I don't know if I have a "style"...though I can say with safety that I'm not much for deeper water...particularly since we don't have electronics on the boat.

Back From Meeting Kvd And Timmy Horton!
Cool stuff dude. Meeting either of those guys would be pretty gear but both at the same time is fantastic.

Gloves That You Can Feel Rod With
I wear some fingerless gloves that also have a rubberized web pattern on them. FInd they do the job when it gets chilly and I even wear them in the summer sometimes.

Type Of Equipment You Carry?
When bank fishing I have one rod and a small tacklebag with some plastics, cranks, spinnerbaits and terminal tackle. As for equipment I have some pliers, knife, small scale, towel. Fishing from a boat I have three rods, a BPS Extreme 370 Qualifier tacklebag with more tackle than I care to enumerate, scent, pliers, towel, gloves, sunscreen, line clipper, lure retriever, first aid kit, rain gear, and other stuff I can't remember.

Baits You Gotta Have
I usually bring about 10-15 bags of soft plastics with me in my tackle bag but I can live without all of them except 5" GYCB Senkos in watermelon, some craw-style baits -- manufacturer largely unimportant, and some kind of creature bait.

On The Water Snacks?
If we remember: Water and chocolate bars. And cigarettes. We usually only go out for about 6-8 hours so we tend not to bring too much.

Crank Baits
Square bill allegedly bounces off stuff better and leads to fewer hang ups.

Hows The Bait Monkey Treating Everyone
Sigh, another 7 crankbaits showed up in the mail yesterday. I had forgotten I had ordered them a few weeks ago. After those, no more. I will buy no more lures forever.

Are There Some Baits You Just Won't Use?
I don't think I could name many baits I wouldn't use. I'm pretty much open to almost everything. I won't use an A-rig because they're illegal in Ontario, though I could use fewer armed ones up here. Still, I have little interest in any umbrella style rig. I probably will never use a C-rig only because I'm lazy and drop shotting because I'm nowhere near patient enough -- odd from someone who generally likes finesse techniques.

Bass Pro Credit Card
I don't know. I'm flying for free to Chicago this year. It all depends on how you use it. I pass many of my bills through my credit card, pay them off and get rewards points. I do see many people make stupid purchases based on getting rewards but if you're responsible with it and not doing anything you wouldn't ordinarily do you can make those rewards programs work.

Best Fluoro (For Braid Guy)
Anyone have any experience with that Spiderwire Flouro-Braid? Seems like it would give the best of both worlds to a guy that uses braid but wants some of the advantages that comes with FC -- well, assuminig it lives up to the manufacturer's claims.

For Those Emergency Bass Fishing Moments
In-line spinners always seem to be overlooked...I guess people look at them as old school stuff. I have a few in my emergency bag as well as I do find they catch them...though I always seem to hook rock bass on the damned things :-)
