  1. And that they are. When I first started fishing the Ned I went out and bought 8-10 packs of heads, 10 bags of Zinkerz of various colors and a couple bags of Strike King Zeros. That was about 6 years ago and I still have 8 unopened packs of heads, and I think I've only opened about 3 bags of worms. With a drop of superglue on the head to hold the worm on I've caught upwards of 100 fish or so on one Ned rig without having to change out the rig.
  2. Two 27 series trolling motor batteries will fit side by side where your green battery is now using this tray. I have it installed in my 2008 tracker that way for my 24v trolling motor. Should work for you fine too. May lose a little bit of room behind the battery towards the transom, but not too much. https://thmarinesupplies.com/collections/battery-trays/products/dual-battery-holder-tray Can find them all over the net for a little cheaper...
  3. I’ve switched everything I had from regular Power Pro to Power Pro Super Slick. The super slick is a lot softer and is more manageable especially at higher test strengths.
  4. No reason why it couldn't be held on Toledo Bend then?
  5. Shreveport is close, and it has a big stadium that holds 14,000 in CenturyLink Arena, it's about as far as they drive from Grove OK to Tulsa when they fish Grand, there's plenty of restaurants near there, and plenty of hotels. It could work. It's all about the money though. There's a reason why it's on the same lakes over and over.
  6. I think these ribbon tails you are calling them are actually called curly tailed grubs.
  7. Usually that algae is only in the top foot or so of water and it's clear under it. Fish don't seem to mind when it takes over my in-laws pond every spring.
  8. Yep, I'm the same way. Tight as it goes until I need it. I've only broken off on one fish in recent memory because my drag was too tight and that was because it straightened out my line clip, which I had noticed wasn't as springy as it had been and I should have replaced it. Line never broke.
  9. I like the Sammy's too, but they are more $$ than the Sexy Dawgs, and I'm not a fan of how they sit tail down head up in the water at rest. It gives a little more of a bobbing kind of action, but takes a little more to get them started walking than the Sexy Dawgs.

  11. Usually color doesn't matter much for me since I fish mostly clear water, so something shad color is what I use. Bone, sexy shad, green gizzard shad, blue gizzard shad. All work for me. They don't see much of the color other than the underbody and some splashing usually anyways. I do mainly use the Jr. size with 2 hooks.
  12. I think the Strike King Sexy Dawgs are pretty good. Easy to walk. And the price is decent.
  13. Here in Missouri there is a wide range of what they call creeks and rivers. For example, there are two creeks that run almost in parallel on a northerly flow, the Huzzah and Courtois Creeks, that have just as much water in them or more at their confluences as some of the other streams that they call rivers. A lot of Missouri streams start very small and are creeklike though and gradually get bigger as more and more springs and tributaries feed them.
  14. The farm pond I fish I usually upsize my baits because I know there's bigger fish in there that will take them. It also keeps the dinks off of them and the bluegills and sunfish don't tend to bother them as much. My in-laws who own the pond look at the size of some of the lures I use and they think I'm crazy until I pull in the bigger fish they have.
  15. You're right. Not sure what I had going through my head at the time I typed that. Maybe I was thinking if there's a plastic tied onto those weights, the tungsten would fall faster because it overcomes the buoyancy force of the bait more than a similarly sized lead weight.
  16. Does it fall faster though? A 1/4oz lead weight and a 1/4oz tungsten weight both have the same mass, only the latter is smaller because tungsten is more dense. I wouldn't think that the size difference between the two would cause the lead to fall any slower due any buoyancy differences between them or due to the resistance of water, and if there is any I would think it would be negligible. Now, take a weight of each material that are the same size, yeah the tungsten will fall faster because it's heaver than the same physical volume of lead. As others have said, I think the two main reasons to use tungsten are 1) it's smaller than the same weight of lead, which means it makes your bait look more natural and it comes through cover easier, and 2) it's harder so it transmits better feel of what the weight is in contact with, and with that comes a different sound than a softer material like lead.
  17. I never thought the rod was that important until I got a nice one and started fishing bottom presentation baits. Then the light came on and all was understood how important a good sensitive rod is. Having a nice smooth reel is nice too, and having one that doesn't cast well isn't particularly good, but if it gets the bait out there and back then it's good enough.
  18. If it's a Lew's TP-1 get it. They are great rods for the price.
  19. Staying within my state of Missouri where the SM record is just over 7lbs I think anything over 5 is awesome. 6lb SM are very rare.
  20. If I need to fish a wacky rig in cover and I need it weedless I've found the Fusion19 weedless wacky hooks to be really good. They have a fluorocarbon weed guard that gets out of the way when you need it and the hooks are really sticky.
  21. Ocean Kayaks have a rod pod down the middle. I store my rods in there when I do overnights or when I just need a spare and don't have room on the top for another. They actually have a ton of storage inside them, well, at least mine does. It's an older Trident 11. I usually haul all my camping stuff inside to keep it dry while I'm floating.
  22. I also have Shady Rays. They have a life time "you break it or lose it or crush it or mangle it or whatever" we'll send you a new pair warranty. I just did this because the frame around one of the lenses broke, filled out the online form, and in about 3 days I had a brand new pair of sunglasses. They usually have a black friday BOGO deal and I bought 2 pairs of them a couple years ago.
  23. You know you have a bait buying problem when...
  24. The Maxxum has a Digital Maximizer feature that provides longer run times since you can dial in the precise speed you want instead of being stuck with just 5 preset speeds.
  25. It's 1.5oz. i usually just chuck it on my MH topwater rod with 40-50lb braid, which right now I think is an older 7' BPS Bionic Blade.
