How Do Bass Eat Spinnerbait?

How Do Bass Eat Spinnerbait?
Have you ever wondered how they attack spinnerbaits? Do they try to eat the whole thing? Or do they only attack the jig head /shirt part? I was looking for a video of bass attacking spinnerbait, but I couldn't find it. Do you widen the arm on some of the spinnerbait? I do sometimes, thinking that might help with hook up rate.

How To Remove The Spool Pin Of Abu Garcia Sliver Max
I've done cleaning out and oil the bearings of two reels previously. I didn't remove the shields, but they are performing better. You made me wonder if I could have done better. How do you remove the shields? The clips you mentioned are for the bearings, not for the shields correct?

Keeping A Largemouth As A Pet
I had a pet bass, long long long time ago when I was in middle school. It was my very first bass. It must have been a 1 lber. I brought it home and put in a small tank. It must have been 15 gallon or something. I was planning on keeping it for awhile and release it when it became too big. Well, it didn't last long. I mean the fish lived, but I got tired of it! The problem was the food. He didn't want to eat anything if it is not alive. And he ate so much. This was a huge burden for me. And quite frankly, I didn't enjoy feeding live fish see being eaten at all.

Using Jigs And Casting Them??
bigbill, I think it can change your game, depends. The majority of my local lakes close for boating from mid October to April. I fish from bank during that time. I know some spots with better than average chance of finding fish. Being in winter, some of them are bit far out. Ability to reach there with your bait makes the difference between catching something and not catching. Archy head works best for me with least amount of snags. If you are not on braid, you might want to stick with jigs with light wire hook for better hook set.

How To Remove The Spool Pin Of Abu Garcia Sliver Max
I just found a perfect thing to dip the bearing in while it is on the shaft. The medicine bottle from a pharmacy. The diameter is just perfect to fit inside of the spool rim. I just cut it to the correct depth.

I was just thinking about doing that without removing. Didn't know about carb cleaner. Thanks!

How To Remove The Spool Pin Of Abu Garcia Sliver Max
I'm try to clean out the bearings of my Sliver Max. It has three bearings for the spool. The middle bearing is kept in place with a small pin to the shaft, but this pin does not come out. I found Boca Bearing has a little tool to remove this, but I do not want to spend $40 on $60 reel (well it was free reel for me!) Anybody knows how to remove this pin without special tool?

Few Questions About Swivels.(When To Use And When Not To?)
This topic comes up time to time. I use snaps often because I rotate baits frequently. I find this is especially useful when you are fishing from a bank with one or two rods available. Less important factor when I am fishing from a boat with 5-7 rods available. For the concern about breakage, I have experienced some snap breakage. They were on some no-brand cheap stuff. I did my own test and lock snap is the best combination of ease of use and strength. With this I have confidence that my hook bends open before my snap breaks, even with 3x strength puddle tail swim bait hooks, which I did a couple days ago. For the concern about loosing sensitivity, I don't see that myself. Getting extra weeds is a negative in certain case. Bill, I'm curious how that work...so you have main line > snap swivel> intermediate line with weight > another swivel > leader > hook & worm, something like that?

Braid Vs. Flouro
When I switched over to braid for most of my reels, I didn't like it for bottom baits because it floats so much and makes big bow. I have to change around my fishing tactics around it. However, I really enjoyed the lack of memory. I am now all braid. I also had hi-vis florescent fluorocarbon on the reel that I used to cast weightless plastic in the shallow. I was able to 'see' every little 'tick' on the way down in twilight hours. With braid, even with hi-vis yellow that I have, it is a lot less visible than hi-vis 'florescent' colors. But I think this is not very common complaints as the most of the fluorocarbon used are clear anyhow.

C&r Rant
Agree with all the above advices. I feel your pain thou. When you said he keeps regardless of size, I wonder you know that for the fact and if undersized fish is included. And tartertester has a good point regarding daily catch limit vs possession limit.

Roboworm Alive Shad
I get lots of little fish. The one I have is 3". And that maybe why.

Lure Ratings On A Rod
Sometimes I spy questionable lure weight ratings, just by looking at catalogs. If I were to buy a rod from a company that I don't have experience with before, I will stick within the suggested range, or even try to stay in middle of the range to be on the safe side.

Bank Fishing Forum
I think it is safe to say that they are not going to make Bank Fishing Forum based on Long Mike's comment, but just in case... I oppose to have a separate forum, as there are many things common between boat fishermen and bank fishermen. I fish both from boat and from bank and I do not want extra forum to search when I am looking for information.

Casting Distance With A Carolina Rig
When I throw c-rig for distance, I think how I load the rod is different from when I am throwing other baits (I think). Back swing is slower (I think). The line out from the tip actually helps loading (I think). Depending on the weight and the length of the leader, the optimum length of line that you want to have out is different. Something you need to experiment. The cast is a bit more smooth motion than other baits too. You might want to also experiment with the position of your thumb. For me touching the left edge of the spool gives me the best control. And flushing out the grease and put a drop of oil helped for me.

Roboworm Alive Shad
I do use when things are really really tough in the dead of winter. They work but the size is not there for me.

Polarized Sunglasses
I used to feel the same way and only glasses I would wear were light gray. Not much change in color and just darker. Then I picked up Amber S11 a couple of month ago. The first day it look very wired. I would look up a overcast sky and it look all orangish! It is almost like looking at some miami TV shows where they somehow like to tint the top portion of sky orange. Anyhow, looking at the water was amazing. I forgot about the color and it was very clear. Second trip, I didn't even notice the orange sky any more. I think I just needed one day to get used to it. I now prefer Amber because it does not look as dark as gray in low light condition actually, I can use it with wider range of lighting conditions.

Duh!! Why Didn't I Think Of That
Does the container have two purposes? One as dry storage for the TP and two as your toilet.

Duh!! Why Didn't I Think Of That
I've learned so much from this site thou, this is just one of them that comes to my mind... I didn't go "duh why didn't I think of that", but one simple and yet cool tip was to apply pressure by your finger tip on the spinning spool to temporary increase the drag when you got a big girl on the line. I used to adjust the drag on the spinning reels all the time, but not any more. This tip was given by SirSnook.

Fishing Rod - Bass Fishing From Shore / Small Boat.
+1 Not sure how many rods you are planning on carrying with you, but from shore, I say go with longer 7 1/2 rod by default, except if you have bush that you have to worry about. In addition to the casting distance, longer rods can cast lighter bait better if the power is the same.

Polarized Sunglasses
+ 1. I also recently purchased Striking S11. Amazing glasses. I never bought expensive glasses before, so I cannot give you the comparison, but after all day of use, I never felt my eyes are tired.

Biodegradable Line?
Kudos for the effort by the company. When I go shore fishing, there are so much discarded fishing lines, makes me nuts. Some of them look like someone went to the waters to respool their reels. I tried to pick up some every time, but there's no wining here as they just keep accumulating. So many fisherman don't care about environment. I don't want to even imagine how it will look like when my grandchildren start fishing. However, for me, I rarely lose line. I use rather heavy equipment for the job as long as I can get away with it and if something fails, usually at the knot. I would like to see more bio degradable baits.

Light Strikes On A Weightless Texas Rig
+1. Do you check water temp? It gives you good clue of where the bass might be. I bring a cooking temp gauge when I fish from bank.

Where Would You Fly?
