I would say top water was a good choice. Rig up some plastics weedles and carolina rig them. Sounds like you are new to this and that is an easy wat to start. Some poeople will tell you to use heavy floro others will say braid. Try what you like....

Hello, my name is Jesse. On the east coast forums I am know as IMPACT. In the past years I have fished small slop ponds for LM. The last couple years I have been fishing the Quabbin Res. The best SM fishing in MA and maybe the NE area. I have an 8 yr old son who just got the bug this year and has been hammerering them as well. We live ten min from the state gate and fish once a week. I use robo worms late spring spawn out I use pumpkin punisher and then darker greens or Aaron's majic through late summer . Another great abut are yammimoto 3 inch swimming minnow in baby bass color. Great tail action....
