  1. Well I know I can cast weightless senkos. And that's on a 7'mh rod.
  2. How light are you talking? You won't be throwing crappie or bluegill baits on any baitcaster. And light bait casting doesn't just rely on the reel. The rod and line test probably have more of an effect than the reel does.
  3. I posted an answer to your question on your revo s/citica post.
  4. Okay, here's how it works. The spring loaded pins (non pitch) will engage at the beginning of your cast when the spool is spinning the fastest and the springs help retract them when the spool has slowed down to allow a little more distance. The pitch pins will stay engaged throughout the entire cast to give you more control when pitching baits short distances or lighter baits where the spool wont be spinning as fast. Because they are not spring loaded, they will engage on those short slower pitch casts. You don't have to use all three of one or the other either. You can even mix up having a spring and pitch engaged, play around. So if you're gonna be throwing spinnerbaits, crankbaits, topwater, use the non pitch brakes. If you're going to be pitching jigs, soft plastics, lighter baits, use the pitch brakes. You can use the pitch brakes for the long cast baits if you want. You'll just lose a little distance is all, but not much. Hope that answers your question.
  5. Go to bass pro if you can and put each one on the rod you're going to use an see which one you like. Revo has stronger drag and is super smooth. I don't have the citica so I can't give you advice on that. Or try the reel test program from tackle warehouse. Good luck.
  6. “Fishing is the only sport where everytime you catch a fish, it feels like the very first one you ever caught.” Rick Clunn This.
  7. I have both but I just got them over the past winter so this will be my first season using it. I'll let you know how it goes!
  8. The buck hunting reference sums it up perfectly. That's exactly what it seems like.
  9. Well I'm glad to hear these responses. In particular the idea that its just fishing, whether big or small. Heck, I wasn't gonna stop anyway but yeah, why not fish if you can? Especially up here in NY where the bass fishing season is so much shorter than other states.
  10. The law in NY allows catch and release for bass. You just can't keep them until the 2nd Saturday in June or something like that.
  11. That's just it, he's not targeting bass right now. He won't. He fishes in club tournaments in the summer and he always places around the top. He's really good. If he wanted, he could make me jealous by slamming the bigguns right now if he went after them.
  12. I'd like to think that but he fishes for crappie right now and even then he's catching bass by accident and kinda scoffs that its a bass and not a nice crappie.
  13. I agree that up here in NY that we have an on and off season for the reasons you mentioned. While he doesn't say it, I think he's more sensitive to people catching BIG bass and bragging about the catch.
  14. So my buddy who's been fishing a lot longer than me, (he's 53, I'm 33) will say every year at this time in spring before ACTUAL bass season "oh that bass doesn't count, try catching him in the summer when it's not so easy. He even sort of scoffs at anglers specifically targeting bass right now. But anywhere else in the country where bass season is all year long, the spring time is praised as a great bass fishing season. Yeah it may be easier to catch bigger bass right now but you still have to have SOME skill. I don't know, I just think its kinda unfair to say it doesn't count, as if a 5 year old could catch a 4lb'er with a mickeymouse pole or something (although he might be able to!) What do you guys think? By the way, my user name used to be LAG ISSUEZ. I changed it to match the name of my kayak.
  15. Nice video! Thanks for sharing that.
  16. I'm not sure. Google it or yahoo and look at images. Lots of pictures there.
  17. I think I'm gonna buy some mgx parts and make it even more black.
  18. I've never had to cut my line from a bad backlash but that's just me. I also take the time and pick it out and I don't horse it, that just makes it worse. I still think braid is the better choice. I learned on braid and I never had any major headaches, but again I guess everyone is different. Oh and I use 40lb power pro which I think going with the heavier test helps picking it out.
  19. I'm gonna say braid. Reason being if you get a bad backlash, the line won't be destroyed after you try picking it out. It also has no stretch like flouro but floats instead of sinks. You seem interested in braid or flouro so it's obvious you will at some point in the future buy it so you may as well get it now. Besides, it won't take long to get used to that baitcaster and then you'll be wishing you had braid or flouro on it. That's my 2 cents.
  20. Post pics! Here's my sx with the black front.
  21. The black front piece for the s was like $7 the guy told me on the phone. If you have all the reels I would try swapping first before you buy. But yeah you can order any part from any reel as long as you have the right part number which you can even get online from the schematics.
  22. Bummer. Oh well. One thing I've done though is swap the silver front on the sx with the black front on the s. The all black sx looks good. You can also order parts from other revo reels to change some color items.
  23. Anyone know if you can swap the gears from an s to sx, both gen 3? The sx is 7:1 and s is 6:4:1. Is this possible to change the gear ratio of these and if so which gears to swap?
  24. I know others have bad feelings about them but I just bought the humminbird rf25 smartcast and I think it's awesome. No installs, no headache and you're not limited to just the boat/kayak. You can bring it anywhere. Google it. I love mine. No problems here.
