  1. X2…even though it is probably safe, i wouldn't want to risk catching a disease or parasite from the cows
  2. Haha! He usually sticks to senkos and ribbit frogs, but I do catch bigger fish than he does on average!
  3. Anyone ever hear this from their spouses, parents, siblings or other family? I sure hear it a lot. Every time i mention buying a new combo or lures to my dad he always tells me i have too much. He just goes out with his one spinning rod and reel and ironically out fishes me most of the time with his soft plastics. They don't understand!!!

Figured i would post the topic here because it wasn't getting a lot of views in the fishing report section. Tomorrow I am getting up at 530am with my dad and heading to a local pond. The pond is a small pond that is absolutely filled with bass and some really big ones. Last year at this time they were crushing frogs and anything you threw at them. The problem is that for the last 2 days and today, it has been raining. However, the temperature has not dropped it is still warm. Will the rain affect the bite? Will my topwater frogs still work? If not, what lures are good for these conditions? I was thinking swim baits might work. Thanks! Quote

  6. I would take the morning. Nothing like getting up before everyone else, including your dad who is taking you fishing, and spending an hour casting into the glass calm water while the mist burns off the surface. The fishing isn't bad either….
  7. Arv, I think in going to go with the Powell 725
  8. The reviews that i have read say that it has a nice sturdy backbone with decent sensitivity. As long as the sensitivity isn't terrible i think i should be ok with braid. Thanks for the help! Im going to check out the powell endurance right now on TW
  9. That's something to think about, i want to make sure i could still feel a bite if i decided to cast my trig into some open water with submerged weeds or other cover.
  10. Hey guys, just wondering if any of you guys have any experience with the: Dobyns Savvy Cast Rod 7'3" Mag Heavy I plan on pairing it with a Lews mg speed spool with 65lb braid. I want to use this combo for frogging, and pitching some big texas rigged worms or creature baits into the grass.
  11. Thanks, naturally I reel lefty and I'm a righty so it's good in that department
  12. Hey guys, I have never really done this type of fishing but will definitely be trying it a lot coming up... Is the bite just a light tap? And also, how do you prevent your lure from swinging back when pitching? It seems like no matter what I do, the lure swings back to the boat and not where I want it.
  13. This is a perfect example of why you need a scale, first look at that picture i thought that fish was at least 7.5 lbs Beautiful fish!
  14. Well, it looks like I'll be adding one to my arsenal! I think it will be good for big worms, frogs and punching. I can then use my MH for smaller worms, spinnerbaits and swimbaits like the big ez
  15. Is punching effective during the winter months?
  16. Thanks guys, another question I have which I guess will ultimately help me decide is... In Florida do the bass still bury under matted grass and vegetation in the winter? Is punching an effective technique that time of year?
  17. Yeah I'm probably planning to pitch some big worms and frogs into that stuff, I was hoping the medium heavy rod would be heavy enough!
  18. Hey guys, just like the title says..would you buy a heavy action rod for this spot? It is the pond right behind my house in florida. Right now the water level is low but i usually go down there when the water is higher up and the brush near shore is covered: Is a medium-heavy rod with 30lb braid enough?
  19. Don't worry.. I always catch and release! Is there a place to rent boats? If there is, I may consider doing that but the problem is that all water in Florida looks so "bassy" with all the grass! I'd have no idea where to start!
  20. Thanks guys, could any of you possibly recommend a guide for stick marsh?
  21. I Learned to reel lefty on both types of reels, anything else feels unnatural!
  22. Looks like my post got deleted, I originally also said to check out big baits... Many lakes around here have eels and small snakes and boy the snake lures get destroyed around weeds/stumps!
  23. Hey guys.. I have been doing some research and just wanted your opinion on this: If you were trying to catch some trophy bass, would you spend your money to take a trip to Okeechobee or stick marsh/farm 13... Why?
  24. Hey guys- I just got finished watching a bassmaster tournament that aired a couple weeks ago.. i saw someone pull up in about 5 feet of water and started pitching a jig into the submerged weed beds.. I have never seen this done before, my home lakes have enormous beautiful weed beds…have any of you seen this technique? Usually when i think of a jig it is flipping and pitching into shallow cover... The thing that was most surprising was that he just plopped the jig in water like two feet from the boat
