This Year Has Been Tough

Featured Replies

Well......to say the least the pre-spawn, spawn and post spawn has been a little tougher this year, than the last two years for me.  I saw alot of big girls on beds, cruising but not alot of takers of what I was offering.  So we decided to head out to a new lake and see what we could do.  First fish came of a wind blown bank on a spinnerbait, next fish came off a chatterbait stroking it off the bottom, a few more picked up here and there and then this pretty lady decided to come out of the lily's and crush a Spro popping frog.  Lets say, that she was a joy to tango with.  I picked up a new to me Dobyns 766 flipping stick recently and thought what the heck, I'll see how it handles a frog over some lily's and grass.  Not too bad, she dug in....I dug in deeper and was able to coax her out and do a little dance.  Not the biggest that we've caught, but a nice improvement over what we have been catching.  A quick photoshoot, (no Jimmy Houston kiss) and she was back in her home to chase more frogs.  Weight on scale  6.34lb

Good job! That is a nice looking bass.

This is a perfect example of why you need a scale, first look at that picture i thought that fish was at least 7.5 lbs

Beautiful fish!

Whew nice fish congrats.

Spro poppin frogs are wonderful. Just two week ago i caught a 7.5lb on a brown spro poppin frog.

That is one thing that I learned about bass fishing.....Always try something out of the ordinary.  Don't just keep using what has worked in the past, do something you would never think of.  I caught a few fish early this spring by throwing BIG worms over flats, and that is normally a WARM water tactic I use.  Always give them something different, and the results could pay out big time
