  1. I don't care what anyone uses, as I'm not brand loyal, nor do I care about huge corporations. I tend to buy the latest/greatest, or what feels good to ME. That being said, this board has gotten out of hand with Abu threads being invaded by Shimano fan boys. The Revo S vs STX thread on here was invaded not 2-3 posts in by someone saying to "buy a Shimano". I'm sure if these people were interested in a Shimano product, they would have asked about one. Shimano guys are like Jehovas Witnesses. Relentless, unwanted, and always interrupting at the wrong times. Why Bassresource doesn't have brand specific forums is beyond me. This would keep the Shimano Posse out of the Abu, Okuma, Pflueger etc threads, and vice versa.
  2. Lmao!
  3. Mine is lipless cranks. Got a ton of RES Xcalibur Xr & xrk 50s.
  4. This. I had a chatter bait trailer melt and it made a greasy mess.
  5. I like the KVD 1.5 in black back chartreuse and crazy chartreuse color. Cataouatche special is a great one too.
  6. My favorite lipless is the red eye shad in citrus shad color. I really like the 5 and 6xd is powder blue chartreuse as well. They really stand out well in this murky mess Douglas Lake is filled with.

I threw an Evolve Vibra grub the other day t rigged just to see how the action was, and I was pretty impressed. I can see these being a smallmouth magnet when the bite turns on. I have the 3" version, but I hear the 4" has even better action. TW sells these if you're interested.
  8. Get a worm binder and keep them in their original packs. Best way to keep them fresh and mess free. BPS had some nice ones for $14.88 yesterday.
  9. I was wondering this too. Good thread, good info.
  10. This is just a heads up for anyone looking to get a new combo. Academy has some great deals right now, and some nice combos can be had cheap. I've seen quite a few threads on budget combos, and this looks like a great opportunity to get a nice one on the cheap. Hope this helps someone.
  11. I've done it many times with no issue. Any time I spool up my reels, I always try to troll the line all the way out and reel it back in with a lot of tension. This helps with memory and line twist, but you don't necessarily have to do this to get good results. Tighten the drag of the "donor reel" pretty tight so there is tension for the transfer to the other reel and you should be fine.
  12. Agreed. Every thread about Abu stuff always has at least one annoying person that just has to pimp Shimano stuff. It's absolutely ridiculous and getting very tiresome.
  13. It's ok to say the gen 2 sucks if that's how you feel. But he's wanting info on the new version which does not suck, as I've fished mine heavily as have others without issue. Nothing in your answer actually answered the poster's question. You just told him to buy A Shimano.
  14. I think he's wanting to know about a gen 3 stx And s, not a gen 2 stx or a shimano.
  15. I have both, and at first I didnt feel like the stx was $70 Better, but the more I fish with them, the stx is just so smooth and easier to fine tune with the dual braking system. That being said, the S is a bad ass reel for the money and definitely has it's place in my arsenal.
  16. I like spinnerbaits in firetiger but don't use many cranks in that color.
  17. I fish them the way Rockchalk described. Sometimes I will go with a slow retrieve if that doesn't work, but there's very few times that method doesnt work.
  18. The wife wanted one more combo and really liked this one. Initially she was gonna get a Revo s and a rod, but now she just doesnt wanna spend that much.
  19. I've used them with, and without the trailers that come packed in, and nothing. Recently stuck on a Rage Tail grub to give it a smaller profile, but haven't fished it enough to know if that did the trick. I always cast it out and let it fall, then pull it up off the bottom and let it fall, rinse and repeat. I don't chuck and wind it either. Same goes for Zman chatter baits. Just no luck with them, but I'm determined to get a fish on one this year.
  20. I was at Bass Pro today and saw a pretty nice Quantum KVD bait cast combo for $99. Looked pretty good but I wanted to know if anyone had this particular reel and what you thought of it. Thanks. 21. What in the world are you doing that grants you the power to catch fish on a boogee bait? I can't for the life of me do any good with those.
  22. Clunn's cigarettes smell funny.
  23. Wally world had a 6"10 MH but man it was whippy for a MH and was only rated for 3/4oz I believe. Wanted to do some deep cranking with one of these, but knew the MH wasn't the one for me.
  24. I'm in the market for a Bucoo, but just going by lure weights it seems that a heavy would be more in line with a MH from most rod companies. If anyone has this rod, can you confirm this?
