  1. That's our local lake, and I'm pretty sure every pro out on the lake threw some version of the A Rig.
  2. Maybe just host a local tourney to benefit the needy.
  3. Events like that usually get a little press, which in turn attracts more and more people to the cause. You could even hold some local tournaments that would benefit the needy, homeless shelters, animal shelters....the possibilities are many.
  4. That would be awesome to get some local anglers together and hold a big community fish fry a couple times a month to help people less fortunate. I would maybe make up some flyers and go to local sporting goods stores, or BPS, Gandermountain Etc, and as if you can post them to "recruit" people to take part. Or maybe run an ad in your local paper, or contact local fishing clubs to see if they will get on board. This is a great idea, and I may see what I can do to get something going like this in my area.
  5. Good call. I was just gonna post this. I use just a small piece of electrical tape on all of my reel foots just to prevent them from getting scraped up.
  6. I'm surprised no one said the gen 2 Revo SX. People swore by that reel. I swore AT it though...
  7. Gotta go with my gen 3 Revo stx. Smooth, light, casts a mile, and it can be tuned to throw any baits in any conditions. It's just plain awesome and user friendly.
  8. Good question! I've wondered this myself.
  9. Did anyone see the MLF video of KVD sinking some trebles of a jerk bait into the camera man's forearm?? LOL, that was crazy stuff! If you're gonna get snagged, you might as well get snagged by the best. I throw cranks alot when I'm out on the boat with my kids, and my biggest fear is hooking one of them during a cast. If they hook daddy, that's ok.
  10. Here is ours for TN: "Due to the high volume of phone calls regarding the state’s complicated rules surrounding the Alabama rig, The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission has announced a change in regulations that will go into effect on March 1, 2013. Anglers may only use three hooks on each rod—the hooks can be any size, with both single and treble hooks permitted for use. While treble hooks will be legal, it will still be illegal to use three crankbaits on a single cast that are rigged with two hooks each. Five lures may still be used on Alabama rigs, but only three of them can have hooks. Anglers with three hooks or less on their line will be perfectly legal. Anything more than three hooks will be against the law. The TFWC has also voted to decrease the minimum length limit for Pickwick’s smallmouth bass from 18-inches to 15-inches. With both Alabama and Mississippi expected to do the same, length regulations will become simpler for Pickwick anglers fishing near state lines." I cut and pasted this from a site, and apparently it took the background with it lol. Sorry.
  11. I stick with booyahs, sks, and the bps xps spinnerbaits. For the money you cant beat the xps. Good skirts, strong sharp hooks, And good quality wire and swivels.
  12. Only once in the back of the elbow. Luckily it didn't go very deep.
  13. How much space do you guys use between the bait and the weight?? I know it varies, but what's a good starting point? I just rigged up my spinning reel a few minutes ago with the d shot, and I have maybe 12-14 inches distance between the bait and weight. Is that ok to start out with?
  14. I was watching MLF one day with Rojas and Ish, and Rojas made the comment that Ish "thinks he's a frogger but he's nothing". It may have been just idle trash talk, but it sure sounded like he was ripping on Ish. Now Rojas is pulling this crap on Jones.
  15. I just got some Yo Zuri Hybrid, but I've heard great things about the XPS fluoro so it's next on my list. Do you treat it with any line conditioner?
  16. All I used was Trilene XL. Loved that line. Then I gave in and got some Yo Zuri Hybrid 10#, and I'm in love. I hear 10# breaks at something like 16lbs or something, so it's plenty strong. Much better abrasion resistance too.
  17. For slinging heavier baits on my STX, I just have two centrifugal brakes on and adjust my spool tension accordingly. The STX lets you fine tune to where there's no bait you can't throw.
  18. A google search of my issue has popped up quite a few people having this issue, and it's only with the SX. I guess I will go back to BPS tomorrow and exchange it again. If I get a dud this time, I'm getting a refund and saying to he!! with it.
  19. Long story short, I've had issues with my S, my STX, and now my brand new 2 day old SX. Not sure what's causing it, but the spool will not re engage every time the handle is turned. I know, return it. Well I did yesterday, and now this new one is doing the same exact thing. The drag is tight enough, the spool is snugly and surely seated in the pinion gear slot, the spool tension is set right...I dunno what to do other than to try and return it...again. All 3 of my Revos have had 3 different issues although the S issue was more my doing, and a swap out at BPS solved 2 of them, but now I got another dud SX. Anyone know what could be causing this? I don't wanna go into BPS and have them look at me like I'm crazy if I don't have to, but I'm getting a little ticked off at the "quality" Abu is shoveling out.
  20. For light weight baits, I turn off all centrifugal brakes and just use the mags. Same way with flipping and pitching. If you have a good thumb, you'll be ok.
  21. Which Seagur do you use? Is it a fluoro or a co poly?
  22. I've used KVD LnL for a couple years, and though I was skeptical at first, I took a chance and I'm glad I did. It works amazing on mono, and the 10# Yo Zuri Hybrid I use behaves much better with it. Great stuff.
  23. I gotta say those look pretty neat. Gonna pick up a couple and try them.
