  1. As long as you wet the line good, the palomar is fine with fluoro. Some will say other wise, but I've seen too many pros say it's fine, plus you tested it yourself and didn't have any issues.
  2. I'd say go with the Powell unless you can get some hands on the others before you buy.
  3. And don't settle for lower quality gear. If you only need a few more bucks to get something of quality, WAIT and get it. Don't just get something to get something. Get the most for your money.
  4. Surprised more people don't wear Oakley. I have some Batwolfs that are polarized and a day out on the water with those is amazing.
  5. Exchange it. BPS is great about returns and they will take care of it. I've had issues with all 3 of my Gen 3 Revos, but a swap out cured that. I have the new Revo S too, but neither the 1st or my current S has had the issues yours did. My new SX would not re engage the thumb bar after the handle was turned consistently, so that one got swapped out and all is well. I love Abu gear, but this gen has been bad for defects compared to the older Revos I've owned. Abu has a killer warranty/customer service, so I'm not too worried about it if something goes wrong after the BPS return period is up. The S is a great reel, so don't give up on it yet.
  6. Sorry, I was viewing this from my phone at a stop light.
  7. $100 says the reel is an Abu. And before I'm burned at the stake for that comment....I own all Abu rods and reels so....
  8. Veritas rods are warranted for 3 years IIRC. All Abu rods carry some type of warranty. And for $50 the Vengeance is a nice rod.
  9. I used to use mono, but have since switched over to Yo Zuri Hybrid which is a co polymer. Love that stuff.
  10. I tried them on a 4/0 swim bait hook, and like some of you said, there isn't much room between the hook shank and the belly. Gonna try some 5/0 and see how they fare then. I wasn't too impressed with the tail action though.
  11. Or bacon porn. Trust me it's awesome. I never knew bacon could be cooked in there....hmm.
  12. I love yo-yo-ing a red eye shad. It always seem to work. I used to fish soft plastics mostly, but the RES has turned me into more of a power fisherman just because I can cover so much water and because that lure just works. I love chartreuse bait fish, citrus shad, and chili craw colors.
  13. I keep my setups simple, with no real technique specific set ups. I stick with 7" MH rods mostly. Set ups are a 7' MH Veritas micro guide rod with a Gen 3 Revo S, a Gen 3 Revo SX on a 7' MH Vendetta 2, and a Gen 3 STX that is awaiting a 7'1 MH *** Black rod. I fish open water in the big rocky dirt bowl that is Douglas Lake.
  14. He became a "Shimanos Witness" and is out knocking on doors disturbing people's dinners/family time to spread his fan boy drivel.
  15. There had to have been some damage or mishandling of the rod before you got it. Especially if you bought that combo at Wal Mart. Those rods that come as a combo aren't the best, but no way are they bad enough to where they won't stand up to throwing 99% of the baits you'll need to throw while fishing for bass.
  16. Just nabbed a 7'1 MH *** *** Black from TW.
  17. I wanna see someone try that stuff with me lol. Someone would be going swimming. I get it ok? No one wants anyone to ruin our hobby, but going one man army or being a ****** to someone YOU think is doing something wrong will come back to bite you. Or get you in a fight or worse. Report these people and be done with it.
  18. We have fish fries here and there, but we don't keep little dinks and we don't keep any big ones. A 1 or 2lber though? Those get rolled in corn meal. We are strict about not keeping them if we don't need to, but if the freezer gets a little low, then yeah we keep stocked up but aren't greedy about it. Do I think it's right to over fish or keep under sized fish, or bigger fish that should be put back so others can enjoy them? No and yes. I fish in a 30K+ acre lake that holds a ton of fish, so over fishing I don't think is a huge deal here, and TWRA does a pretty good job at monitoring the lake. What D Bag would over fish a little rinky dink pond though????
  19. These guys are right. The Pro Max has a graphite frame. I got confused between the Pro and the Orra.
  20. Red spinnerbait and gold blades for that.
  21. In muddy water red is a good color and so is chartreuse. Gold or copper blades too.
  22. You can return the rod at a wm store if u don't like the one you receive. I hope it's the V2 though. I have a MH V2 paired up with a new SX and it's an awesome feeling combo. The 2 is a noticeable improvement and more true to it's power rating.
  23. Customers handle stuff waaaaay rougher than I would. The fact that the graphite blank isn't coated with anything doesn't help when dealing with ham fisted, careless people. Bps has rods with busted guides littering their racks here. People drop them, wack them into the racks, into other rods, drop them.....you name it. Stuff we would never do to our rods.
  24. The Vendetta 2 isn't as stiff as the original Vendetta. It's more of a true MH this time. The 2 is much less tip heavy that the original as well.
  25. Any of the Max reels are good for the money, but I'd go with the Pro Max, since it has an aluminum frame. And x2 on getting the Vendetta on walmart.com for $30. Great deal on that rod.
