  1. Yeah, Southern Ontario lake is still very dirty. I tried yesterday and was dissapointed, no bites. Thinking about traveling over to Oneida today knowing that the water will be clearer and waters are much more shallow, I am hoping this might work better.
  2. I was having a great year up until July. The humidity and the continuous downpour have really shut down the bites for me. The fish I have been catching have been 15'-25' deep on Oneida Lake.
  3. I'm also curious to know if there are any quality rod holders out there that won't require drilling.
  4. I'm just starting to get into trolling for walleye. The problem is, I don't want to buy 4 new rods to troll. I currently have 5-6 good quality rods/reels and was wondering if I could just use them in a rod holder?? I am going to be trolling in approx. 20-30ft if that matters.
  5. Thanks again guys!! I brought it down the road to a guy who hopefully won't charge me an arm a leg and a ********. He thinks it might be the water pump but wants to keep it over the weekend and check it out. I will post the solution when I receive one so that others can refer back to this post for a starting point on similar issues.
  6. Nothing on the dash or speedometer. No warranty. No indicators at all other than what was stated above. I did use my trolling motor to get back to the boat ramp however. I didn't want to risk any further damage. I was hoping it would be an easy oversight I may have been missing. I am going to take it to a marina down the road and let them take care of it, just to be safe! Thanks everyone for input!
  7. Oh and just to add, the beeps occur at any speed, including idle (with motor on).
  8. Hey guys, I am having some trouble with my 2007 Nitro Fish N' Ski (150 HP Mercury outboard). The last time I took it out it was sounding 4-5 loud warning beeps anytime I had the ignition turned on and I could see the motor would begin smoking if I didn't turn it off after several minutes. I am thinking it might have something to do with the oil but am not certain. I am quite handy and was hoping you guys could share some insight with me as to your thoughts. If this is a DIY fix I'd much rather give it a go myself as the marina's around me charge $99/per hour labor and are backed up 2 weeks due to the season opening. I have the boat maintenanced/winterized annually and it is a relatively new motor with approx. 50-75 hours on it.
  9. I just purchased one as well but haven't had an opportunity to use it yet. Glad to hear it is worth the investment!!
  10. I agree, your in the wrong places. Show us a topo map and the locations you've been fishing and maybe some of us can help you find more lucrative options. Fishing reports claim that lake Casitas is still getting bit heavily on nightcrawlers and plastic worms in <20ft.
  11. Long casts are important. I fish a clear lake nearby and my best luck has been fishing colors as close to natural forage as possible and when that fails, using white curly tail grubs or white soft plastic swimbaits.
  12. My birthday is on the 11th of this month and I am in need of a new fish finder. My mother is spending approx. $500 on me and I was considering asking her for a fish finder this year. Suggestions? Just looking for the best bang for my buck. I will be running it out of a Nitro 189 Sport in freshwater only.
  13. Thanks, bluebasser86. This was really cool to look at. It is making me even more stir crazy as I wait out these long winter months. As a fisherman, I rarely get opportunities to see and learn from an underwater perspective, so this was really great.
  14. I've got this one bookmarked as a potential DIY project for myself: http://www.outdoorlife.com/articles/gear/fishing/2009/05/do-it-yourself-fishing-rod-holder?page=0%2C0 Page 1 is an overview Page 2 is the cutting list Page 3 is the schematic
  15. Looking for a versatile rod/reed to add to my collection. Already own rods for pitching/flipping/finesse presentations etc etc. Just looking for something very versatile, probably something medium/moderate and 7'0" ++. I've got about 300-350 to spend on this, but no more. Was looking at the St. Croix Mojo Bass sticks and they look nice but not sure what reel to pair that up with or if there might be something better I can get with my money. Suggestions??
