  1. I'm sending my S back. It's gotten insanely noisy and it feels rough on the retrieve all of a sudden. Have an stx on the way and am gonna order a villain to stick it on. I always have bad luck with stuff despite babying my stuff.
  2. I was at Academy yesterday in Knoxville, but didn't see any good deals. If I would have seen that reel for that price I would have snagged it in a heart beat.
  3. I'm gonna pick up another new Revo to go along side my S, and was thinking about snagging a SX. The only problem, is that I HATED the gen 2 SX. It was the only reel with a magnetic brake that I just couldn't dial in, and when I thought I had it dialed in, I'd get a back lash. Now the new SX has the Magtrax system like the Max series of reels which I'm comfortable with, so I'm wondering if I should give this new one a shot. So anyone that owns the Gen 3 SX could you please let me know if it's more user friendly than the previous SX? Thanks.
  4. Are the new sx reels more user friendly than the previous gen sx?
  5. I have the S and its a very nice reel. That sx and stx keep calling my name though.
  6. I want oyster and the Pearl color. I have bleeding gizzard shad I have yet to try but that should work well in our local lake.
  7. My package says "split shot/drop shot".
  8. I just sold my SX to my buddy, so I may go on a lure spending spree tomorrow. I have had a love/hate relationship with that reel ever since I bought it. After fishing with my S, there just was no going back to that reel lol. TW has big bite baits on sale for $1.49. Those Kriet Tail worms are pretty awesome, especially the 10'. Got some of those and some more squirrel tails for shakey heads.
  9. I use a Gamakatsu 1/0 hook. Thinking of trying a 2/0 though.
  10. I may go to Academy this weekend. I got some good deals online from them, but there doesn't seem to be much on sale anymore. Hopefully in store is a different story, as I really wanna pick up another vendetta on the cheap. I waited too long to order one while they had them on sale online.
  11. Our lake has some pretty murky water. I'd say you can see maybe 3 feet down, and that's it. I have one in blue gill color that I was gonna use yesterday, but chartreuse sexy shad was killing them. I need to get some square bills. Probably the one type of crank I don't have enough of.
  12. A black neon or red cherry seed worm always seem to produce for me.
  13. I definitely need a craw color, and I just ordered one in East TX Special, and chrome sexy shad. I wanna pick up green gizzard shad definitely and probably chrome/black. Most of mine are variations of sexy shad though. Yesterday I was using chartreuse shad and was burning them up. It looks like a purple/pearl-essence in the water. Really eye catching.
  14. I don't know what caused my issue. My black max and revo sx are fine and they have some pretty heavy use. I guess I just got a dud. On the brake side it looks like the thumb bar is just held onto the frame with that nub and guide all the way to the right of your picture. Not sure if there are any other pieces that contribute to the strength or function of the thumb bar on that side, but mine definitely had an issue. I could take the thumb bar and LIGHTLY wiggle it up and down on one side and have it move pretty far. I was afraid that if I kept using it, it would bend or break something on the other side. Glad I got it replaced.
  15. This is why I don't buy on eBay any more.
  16. Me too. I hate going through the hassle of returning items, but if I have any more issues I will probably try one more before I return it. I really like the reel, and the feel of the whole set up so hopefully I just got a bad one and this isn't going to be a recurring issue. Just keep an eye on your thumb bar, and make sure it doesn't move until you fully press the thumb bar.
  17. By far, SK's Rage Tail line has some of the best plastics I've ever used. Now these red eye shad seem to be kicking butt too. What colors for these do you guys recommend ?
  18. Hey good to know! I'm quickly becoming a Strike King fan.
  19. I wonder if the two tension discs are lightly lubed? If they are dry, your distance will suffer.
  20. I never really caught much on lipless cranks, namely Rat L Traps, but I picked a few of these up last week and fished them hard yesterday. All I can say is wow. I boated 4 nice ones, and 3 little guys yesterday, while all of my soft plastic using friends got zilch. I found a few nice spots where bait fish were scattering the surface EVERYWHERE, and casted as far past them as I could, and that's when the fun started. I was letting it fall then ripping it, and repeating. Great, great lure. Can't believe I have never picked any up before now. What's the best way to fish them?
  21. Agreed. My Black Max 2 was only $35 and it was a great reel for being considered "low end". Now I have a revo SX and a new S, but my black max still keeps up with them both. It's great to have nice gear, but remember that kid you grew up with that had brand new Air Jordans, wore all the wrist bands, had the authentic basketball jerseys but the first time he touched the ball he dribbled off his foot? LOL. The bass don't know which reel you're using.
  22. What exactly causes the issue? My Revo S was new out of the box, and yesterday was the first day I used it, so it couldn't have been wear and tear.
  23. You and me both. I was looking at their reels, only to find that what? 2 models are offered in a lefty? Craziness.
  24. BPS swapped it out for me, and the new one doesn't have this issue thankfully. Rock, that nub all the way to the right what was seemingly too loose in that track or guide it runs in wasn't tight enough. So you could actually have one side of the thumb bar go down a bit before the spool was disengaged. Hopefully this new one won't acquire this issue with use, or I will dump it for good. Glad I got it taken care of, because this reel is pretty amazing. I was throwing 1/2oz red eye shad a mile, and even lighter baits were out casting my gen 2 revo sx. I never even touched the brakes, just made sure my spool tension was where it should be and then gradually backed it off to balance out distance and spool control. The Veritas is also pretty d**n amazing. I could actually feel and hear the red eye shad rattling through the rod! Crazy awesome set up.
  25. My BMAX2 is china, my Revo S and SX are Korea.
