  1. Any reel with a handle will work....
  2. It's all good. I know i am not a fan of working out super late at night but with my 3 year old not going to bed till around 9:00-9:15 every night i usually work out after and by the time i am done, showered and endorphins lowered enough to sleep it is almost midnight. Then i watch a little TV and fall asleep just to start my day all over again around 6:15 the next morning. It has become somewhat of a routine now though so something feels off when i don't do it.
  3. who cares, you are catching fish I have been using www.stankxbaitco.com stick baits for about a year now and they are more durable than a yamamoto and have better action than a yum dinger and they are priced well. They also do custom colors for a nominal fee. Also another question is how do you rig them? I know you mentioned texas rigged but i am assuming weightless. Also how much of the plastic do you have going up the line as you rig them? I usually go at least 1/4" if not more as i have found this helps out both with action and keeping the bait together for a few more fish. I can usually catch at least 3-4 fish this way.
  4. Maybe try working out before work then? I know for me i can't do any lifting in teh morning but i can ride my bike and prefer to do weights in the evening. When i am really into it i can't even sleep unless i do some sort of work out in the evening.
  5. I never saw anything stating where his GPS said he was in Wisconsin waters, I know my car GPS while travelling on the highway shows the speed limit changes pretty much instantaneously as I pass the signs. And yes, if i have a 100k purse, classic berth, elite tour card and know i am close to the border then i am making sure where i am fishing and catching no matter how hot and heavy the action is. He was very good about the whole situation though, just imagine if cry baby Dean Rojas had the same situation happen to him....
  6. I agree it is a silly rule but with the advent of all the technology out there coupled with the seriousness of an error he should have known where he was. I am sure his electronics are fitted with a GPS and when he noted where he was he could have kicked up the big motor and been out of MN in a matter of seconds. Also, I am sure that he knew of the rule prior to fishing so while i think the rule is antiquated, it doesn't excuse the fact that he broke it and has to be DQ'd for the day. I want to know who made the official written protest. If someone was able to call him out on the rule than that person should also be man enough to put his name behind it.
  7. And live bait....lol yes i know i am stereotyping here but it seemed like it fit.
  8. I couldn't resist......i have had many phone induced errors in my day as well lol
  9. and judging by your grammar, your English teachers too
  10. knowing why it is math related and not just that holding your rod while bottom fishing at 10:00 gives you a better feel is the real challenge
  11. And what supplements are you currently using? I was using some of the NO2 stuff before i had my car accident about a month ago and hurt my shoulder but i am going to go back at it hard starting tomorrow.
  12. I have owned all three and i like the 7 MHF casting mojo and have used it hard for over two years and have no complaints. The one thing to remember with the Mojo rods is they are probably a 1/2-1 power rating higher than their ratings. And don't get caught up in the technique specific labeling because that is all it is, labeling. I don't like the 7' MHF as a spinnerbait rod even though that is what it is labeled for, i prefer it for frogs, jigs and heavier texas rigs. I haven't owned a veritas casting but i have owned 2 of their spinning rods and they are nice and light and sensitive but they just didn't feel right for me for some reason. I think they are almost to stiff but the 7. MF i had did make a really good jerkbait rod. I did have two of them break on hooksets between the tip and the next eye down which were replaced by bass pro with no issues but after breaking two i sold the last replacement and he is still fishing it over a year later. I had a vendetta when they first came out and honestly don't remember much about it
  13. It depends on the boat. in my coosa there is a spot for it in the grab handle where it pretty much locks into place. In my commander i just slide it under the captains perch after pulling out enough line to anchor and tie off to one of the bungee holders on the slidetrax.
  14. I saw the advertisement for it but never watched it...i just may have to change that now. Dickey has been through a lot too on a personal level so i am glad to see him somewhat succeeding.
  15. I have a 5lb dumbbell weight that is tied to a retractable dog leash. Just get the longest leash that you can find and you will be fine. You really don't need that much weight to hold a kayak and if you need more weight than a few lbs i would question how safe it is to anchor in that particular spot.
  16. I have heard the same things but have no experience. Also focus on accuracy more than casting length. The length will come later on but cheating on accuracy will only hurt you in the long run and take away some of the advantages of using the long rod for either bass or trout.
  17. I'll also add that rod length really doesn't help or hurt in casting length unless we are talking 2-3 feet of difference. I can easily cast out all the line on my 6'6" st crox avid 4 wt and just as easily on my sage 9'4wt. It is about your casting skill more than the rod itself. The longer rod will allow you to pull up line a little easier off the water though. Now i will say that i love my 9' rod for fishing mountain streams in tight quarters because it does make roll casting much easier and just dropping the flies in small pockets without really casting....kind of like tenkara style.
  18. Jumping fish is usually the worst thing for treble hooked baits. I caught one yesterday on a DT10 and he shot to the top and i had to stick my rod under teh water to keep him from jumping...it worked A solid sweep is all i use and it seems to help and i use a crankbait rod with braid. A more faster action rod with mono/flouro your results may vary but the key is keeping pressure as the design of trebles creates a lot of leverage to throw hooks.
  19. Never to soon on this type of stuff.....
  20. lol awesome....Glad to see i am not hte only one who detests the Cheatriots.
  21. The more moderate action rods definitely help when protecting tippets, think UL conventional rods in this instance. If you are horsing fish out of cover though i like about as stiff a rod as i can get and hence the reason i went with the Sage Bass series for my largemouth rod. Not terribly expensive (as far as fly rods go) and has lla the backbone you would need to pull out some hawgs from heavier cover and have the ability to cast a wet sock if you were so inclined to do so
  22. My buddy calls them silver perch.....i had no idea what he was talking about till he showed me a picture of a mess of them his dad caught.
  23. Hooked on phonics worked for me....crappie just like its spelled.
  24. you must really want that bow to trade a calcutta.....
  25. I use my chest pack that i use for flyfishing normally. it can hold quite a bit of stuff and has a pocket in the front that is easily accessible without having to take the entire pack off. It has a larger storage area in the back that can holder larger plano boxes and other things i might need on a not as regular basis. The other nice thing is that it rides high on my chest so when wading i don't have to worry about it getting wet.
