  1. Thanks, I wasn't sure if was from any of the Japanese fishing sites.
  2. Where are you folks finding them for the best price?
  3. Outside of the category plastics, it would be jigs by a mile.
  4. Nice rods and reels! I am probably one of the biggest fans of the EMTF. Hard for me to describe the rod but I feel like it does so many things well that for my intended uses it would be the only casting rod I would buy a duplicate of.
  5. Nothing really, I still have tons of things I have stored away even if they haven't seen use in a while. Most of the time I am not replacing a bait type just upgrading or changing to a different brand.
  6. Probably half of the time for my craw trailers. RI beaver and smallie beaver, SK rodent and baby rodent, Missle bait D-bomb, uggly otter, etc. The give you a few things: 1. Additional bulk 2. Subtle action without compared to more agressive trailers 3. More aerodynamic resulting in better casting distance
  7. If you are not sure how to post pics just ask and just about anyone would do it.
  8. Kind of an oddball move by Shimano looking at it from a pricepoint standpoint. They have the Caenan at $89(not all that popular), the Citica has gone from $119 to $149 and the Curado at $179. Looking at full retail they don't really have that solid $100 reel. Obviously with deals to be had and special pricing at times you can find one for well under retail. With the Curado and Citica being so close in price I can see them competing with each other for market share in that price segment. Unless it is a competitive move with Daiwa. The Citica vs the Standard Tatula, and the Curado vs the Type R. As long as sales for both the Citica and Curado stay strong both should be winners. However only time will tell and we will see what happens to prices...
  9. A jig to me is total confidence. Just need to pick the right kind for the conditions... IE swim, grass, football, brush, hair, mop, etc.
  10. Action is good casting not so much (helicopter like even without forcing it). If you can buy them discounted they are worth a spin otherwise I would pass.
  11. Nice! Assuming shipping is around $15?
  12. Yes sir! That'll work just fine. There are a few new rod/reels that I have been eyeing but ongoing medical bills have put a damper on that. I need to get some photos up in this thread sometime too!
  13. All nice outfits Brad, however you paired the 805 with a topwater bait and no reel. Must be fun cranking those props! Where is its mate?
  14. Assuming you are using the "right" kind of equipment? The general 7 foot plus MH or H rod, fast gear ratio reel and braid? May also help to know what frogs you are fishing? Perhaps a Spro? 1. If the equipment is in check you can cross that off as a culprit. 2. Try altering your "Swing" when you strike as noted above. 3. Modifying the frog can help - Trim the legs, adjust the hooks, etc... 4. Try changing to a different brand of frogs. 5. Lastly I would bring someone else along with you and give them the exact setup and see how they fair. That would at least possibly help rule yourself out as the problem should they prove to be able to hook them. If none of this works of what others have said helps chalk it up as a bad fit. Try frogging another lake or just use the standard fair of what they want on the body of water you are on. Good luck, and if you want to post the Go-Pro or maybe I should say "No-Pro" footage of the frog blow ups but no hook ups it may help people determine what exactly the bass are doing.
  15. Either the menace or standard curly tail grub. The most underated is the eeliminator. Big O mentioned it a few years ago and and the action is pretty awesome.
  16. Tatula would be the better choice for frogs. Just get a higher gear ratio and you are set.
  17. There should be lots of good options for rods over there in Japan as there are reels. I would probably get a 3 powered rod about 7 foot in length with your typical 1/4 to 3/4 oz lure ratings. I am not too familiar with their rod lines in Japan like I am their reels. Hopefully another member will be able to help more. Welcome!
  18. Man that is one mouth watering looking cake. Haven't been able to toucch sweets in months due to some health problems. That would be very tempting!
  19. BPS PQ - new is $100, regularly on sale for $80, used around $60 Shimano Citica 201e - not many new left out there but used is under $80 Standard Tatula - New at full retail is $150 but easily found under $100 Lews speed spool - retail is $100 easily found for under $90 If the size/palming of the Tat is comfortable that would be my first choice. Second would be the Citica E. Lews speed spool and PQ would tie for third. And yes, I have all 4 reels or have had them at one point just the right handed versions!
  20. Late as well... Happy birthday Mr. Francho!
  21. Praying everything goes well. Hang in there and continue to surround yourself with positive people, close friends, and family. Don't be afraid to get away for some fishing from time to time. It can be therapeutic and a way of helping get your mind off of things.
  22. I have a package of the 5.8 inch fat Keitechs. I have only fished the 3.8 and 4.8 sized baits. Interesting but not surprising that they took a few smaller fish. I only bought them to fish for wipers in a lake I occasionally make it to. Side note on the reverse end of the spectrum I caught a 20.5 inch bass a few weeks ago on a dropshotted cross tail shad. This is typically a numbers bait due to its size and also at times a panfish magnet. Just goes to show ya that small and large baits alike account for small and large fish.
  23. Not at all. I love to use black and junebug colored flukes in shallow water along weedlines at any time of the day even at night. Just put a bit of scent in the underbelly slit.
