  1. Hey, folks, I'm making some progress. The tube stays in for now. The next couple of days will determine what direction we take. I must be getting better, I'm getting more and more impatient. I am still trying to be the best possible patient I can. Thanks for all the prayers and support. You all are the BEST !!!! Stitch
  2. If you're going to Wheeling, remember to check out the "bargain cave" sometimes you can find perfectly good equipment that has been returned and just never restocked. That being said, be cautious; a lot of the stuff in there is junk. Good luck.
  3. Well the results are in. The chemo has not eliminated the cancer but has shrunk it a good deal. My surgeon is leaving his practice up here to return to his southern roots. Since he's in the top 1% that does this surgery, this was a blow to us. He now wants to do the operation this Wednesday. It's going to be hectic getting all my bodily prep done by Tuesday evening. Please keep the prayers coming. Thanks ,everyone Stitch
  4. Welcome. I'd probably look at combos from Bass Pro Shop catalogs. They have a variety of prices to choose from. I still have the first spinning rod I ever bought from there, that was a long time ago. Good luck.
  5. I just read an email from Pat. He didn't get home until 4 AM today. After the photos are developed we're going to have a sit-down and I'll get all the story. He did say that their numbers were way down from the usual. John, his bro-in-law caught two bass at the same time, on a Bomber crankbait that weighed a combined 12-8. I think he'll probably be wanting to go again.
  6. This thread caused me to think of much simpler times. Recently I took stock of the rods I have accumulated over the years. (Waaaaay too many)........I can remember when a green ,two piece, True Temper, solid fiberglass rod with a Johnson Century reel filled all my fishing needs. It's ironic how we can complicate things. That being said,I agree with Michigan Fishing, MH may be the way to go.
  7. I use a lot of Berkley line but whenever I find a buy on a one pound spool, I generally grab it. That's how I first tried Big Game And Gamma.
  8. Another set of tests tomorrow at 6 am. A pet scan and CT scan plus another stop for blood work. I'm hoping the Oncologist gives us good news. If so, surgery could be scheduled. Feeling tired along with all the heat and humidity have gotten me down. I'll try and keep updating the progress.
  9. The new guy is having a blast. Pat emailed that Tuesday he caught several 7s an 8 and a 9-4 out of the same tree. Wednesday evening he caught another 8. Pat told him he's formally banned from further trips. Pat's best so far is still an 8 but they're catching 7s each day. The numbers are apparently picking up. Stitch
  10. I don't think they are, Jeff. I'm wondering if El Salto is on the downbeat while Baccarac is on the upswing. The numbers are really down for them. I'm sure looking forward to a 10 of my own. Stitch
  11. Yes, Dwight, I believe it is. I've not yet met the bro-in-law, he caught the 9. Pat reported that their numbers are still way down (25 on Monday). He said that they're throwing senkos early. I assume that's against bluff walls. Then they are dragging big lizards. Their guide is a fan of big rattle traps through the treetops. Late yesterday they did well on really deep crankbaits. The biggest yesterday was a 7.
  12. I was referring to my partner and his bro-in-law about the black eyes....... . ....He emailed again last evening. The numbers are down terribly. They only caught 21 yesterday. Half were over 5. The biggest so far is a bit over 9.
  13. Great fish. gotta be around 10s. If they do, they're both getting black eyes..............lol
  14. I'll keep posting whatever results Pat sends me. He did say that his bro-in-law told him that he never wants to leave....
  15. I just opened an email from my fishing partner. They only caught nine last evening. The three biggest were 6 1/2, 7 1/4 and an 8.
  16. I have no experience with the *** line of rods. I did ,however pick up a 7' M Prodigy at one of Cabela's Bargain Caves. The price was one I couldn't pass up. I like the fact that there are a lot of guides close to the tip. I , personally like the rod.
  17. Thanks ,guys. I've got unfinished business here. My wife is all about me looking forward. I'm in sync with that. Take good care, guys. Tight lines. Stitch
  18. As I type this, my fishing partner and his bro-in-law, are enjoying margaritas and getting ready to eat supper down at El Salto. This is the first time I've missed since we started our yearly trips. I guess I'll just have to be content to anticipate the next expedition. Okay, Jeff, keep me in mind. Maybe Baccarac next time.
  19. Welcome to BR. There's a lot of great info here. Some great folks as well. You may want to check out the "flea market" here. There are always rods and reels for sale by members. Sometimes at terrific prices.
  20. Some that have answered assume I urinate on myself as I use the restrooms. I assure you I don't and I do wash my hands thoroughly. I find it odd that people that don't know me make assumptions. Replies here have confirmed my suspicions about the view some have of hygiene.
  21. I was told it's a matter of supply and demand. Retailers don't want capital tied up in stock that's not selling. To recoup money they rid their shelves of those baits and put them on clearance. Some folks have made a business of buying out non selling or discontinued merchandise and selling them in their own stores.
  22. Does it infuriate anyone else but me when someone uses the restrooms in restaurants then exits without washing their hands? They grab the door handle when they leave, spreading germs. They touch menus. They touch the condiments. Only God knows what they grab at a buffet. Don't parents teach these things anymore? It's not only children. I constantly see grown men my age do the very same thing. I JUST HAD TO VENT!!
  23. My favorite is a chrome/ black 1/2 oz. Rattle Trap. It's the one that's destroyed from my first trip to Mexico. What memories it brings back
  24. Way to go , Speed. This is really nice of you. Once again B R members continue to amaze and astound with their generosity.
