Mexico 2013

Recommended Posts

As I type this, my fishing partner and his bro-in-law, are enjoying margaritas and getting ready to eat supper down at El Salto. This is the first time I've missed since we started our yearly trips. I guess I'll just have to be content to anticipate the next expedition. Okay, Jeff, keep me in mind. Maybe Baccarac next time.

Hang in there Stitch - you had some business to tend to.

But if your looking to scratch that south of the border itch, come with us to Lake Baccarac in March 2014 ?

Or if you can't wait that long (and if you're up for it) - how does this October sound ? ? ?

Decisions, Decisions . . . . . .

Stitch, you are my number 1 priority when you can make it.  I don't care if the 2 of us go by ourselves!  We will make it down!!!  Whenever you are ready, so am I!

I'll bet it's not much hotter down there than here. Interesting to hear if they get any bigger than nine.

I'll keep posting whatever results Pat sends me. He did say that his bro-in-law told him that he never wants to leave....

I know that feeling  . . . . .

I was referring to my partner and his bro-in-law about the black eyes....... :laugh5: . ....He emailed again last evening. The numbers are down terribly. They only caught 21 yesterday. Half were over 5. The biggest so far is a bit over 9.

Yes, Dwight, I believe it is. I've not yet met the bro-in-law, he caught the 9. Pat reported that their numbers are still way down (25 on Monday). He said that they're throwing senkos early. I assume that's against bluff walls. Then they are dragging big lizards. Their guide is a fan of big rattle traps through the treetops. Late yesterday they did well on really deep crankbaits. The biggest yesterday was a 7.

I don't think they are, Jeff. I'm wondering if El Salto is on the downbeat while Baccarac is on the upswing. The numbers are really down for them. I'm sure looking forward to a 10 of my own.

I tend to believe that is the case. But am hopeful when any buddy goes down they have a great trip, weather it be El Salto or Baccarac.

The new guy is having a blast. Pat emailed that Tuesday he caught several 7s an 8 and a 9-4 out of the same tree. Wednesday evening he caught another 8. Pat told him he's formally banned from further trips. Pat's best so far is still an 8 but they're catching 7s each day. The numbers are apparently picking up.

I just read an email from Pat. He didn't get home until 4 AM today. After the photos are developed we're going to have a sit-down and I'll get all the story. He did say that their numbers were way down from the usual. John, his bro-in-law caught two bass at the same time, on a Bomber crankbait that weighed a combined 12-8. I think he'll probably be wanting to go again.

Very cool!  Glad they had a good trip!  Maybe next time you can convince them of Baccarac.  Just got this report in:

"Eddie Mander lights it up... 26 fish yesterday afternoon with the big one a nice 13.3 and 7 over 9 pounds"

Jeff,

Good one.

It was no Baccarac in March, but I can live with it. But then it was no El Salto in the fall either.

Looking forward to Baccarac in March.

Would love to go there in Oct. but schedule is brutal--Scotland/France/Portugal/Spain for most of August, then Florida in October and back to Elsalto in Dec then Brazil in January.

Just took delivery on my new boat and have not had it in the water yet!!
