Best lures are 1oz white spinnerbaits, 1 oz scroungers, texas rigged worms, deep cranks and chatterbaits

Curt Reimer reports:

Terry, thanks again for everything! The fishing was excellent and the food and service were the BEST! I had a trip of a lifetime, I weighed every fish over 5lbs that I got in the boat and here is what I caught. 11-5lb fish, 8-6lb fish, 9-7lb fish, 7-8lb fish, 2-9.2lb fish and on the last day second session a 10.9lb!! Incredible! Best 1 day 5 fish stringer - 43.6lbs.

In the last ten days, we are starting to see a rise in the water level with the recent rains. We have also seen an explosion in activity on the lake. Recent trips by Brad Netherton, Shane and Travis Ryal produced plenty of fish between 8 and 12.9 lbs. Fantastic crank bait action but also fishing worms along the flooded timber is producing 50 – 70 fish a day. We are posting pictures over the next couple of weeks in the new photo gallery as proof of these amazing catches.

We have groups arriving the lodge this weekend and we will have reports for you next week!

Hey I like fishing in the rain - especially in someone else's boat.

43.6?!?!  :jaw-drop:

Not uncommon.  Our last trip down, best 1 day stringer was 43lb even by BR member Dwight Hottle.

Denny Brauer had a best 5 fish sack of over 50lbs one day this June!

With the lake standing at about 80% capacity and currently stable, with the temperatures in the low nineties, fishing is as we expected – a ton of surface activity as fish are cornering shad and chasing them to the top. Although these fish will not take a topwater lure, the schooling bass can be caught using ¾ and 1 oz. rattletraps. Yesterday, four fish between 8 and 11 were caught on rattletraps in the cove Papachaw. With the stable level, fish have been suspended in 25 feet of water out in the main lake. A lot of these fish are catchable with watermelon lizards and watermelon worms, along with bouncing white double-bladed spinnerbaits on the bottom. Just sticking with the basic worm for the day, currently no problem catching between 20 and 50 per day. Last spring, the spawn was fantastic, with countless 9 to 12 inch bass running the lake near the surface. — in Bacurato, Sinaloa, Mexico.

I don't believe that for a second. ;)

Just not using big enough lures.

OK, well just got the present fishing report from both Manual and Terry.  The big fish bite is ON right now.  Alabama rigs are king.  Lots of fish over 10lbs this past week.  Here are a few pics they sent me!
