So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Hey Catt, Doing fine my friend. Sorry for the delay in response. Haven't been able to get up to the Bend too much lately.....therefore....little to contribute. Work just keeps gettin' in the way.....but I'm still very fortunate..... Made a quick trip to San Miguel area a few weekends ago. Hadn't fished that area in a while. Very little grass (mainly hydrilla) to be found. Water was fairly stained in that area. Did happen to catch limits by crankin' & draggin' FB jigs near points where creek channels/ledges were close by. Fished a few humps too. 5XD's & DT10's (colors mentioned in a previous post) produced best. Had some good success with zoom swimmin' super flukes (baby bass) rigged on Owner Flashy Swimmers too....... Nothing above 3-1/2 lbs but caught good numbers. Sounds like I was fishin' same waters where @A5BLASTER's been hangin' out......LoL Quick tip: Check ALL of your electronics before leaving home. My front HDS never powered up, so I fished somewhat "blind" and while there, only to find out when I returned home that the fuse in the front power supply was bad. Duh ! Still had a blast though ! Hope to get back there soon. Love Fall on the Bend ! Will be continuing to watch this thread and continue to be thankful for everyone sharing their experiences. Be safe Everyone! Been seeing a lot of reports on FB about lots of floaters being spotted in the boat lanes.

RonnieF, jcdogfish, I purchased mine about a year ago from the website address below: http://www.swamplandtackle.com Not sure if they still sell them. At the time, Toledo Town & Tackle had them in stock @ $45 which is what I paid online. You can also go to the link below to see who else may carry them in your area. http://www.tb-guide.com/modules.php?name=News&file=print&sid=388 On that link it gives information on some retailers that states: LOUISIANA - Toledo Town & Tackle (Many) and Country Station (Broussard) TEXAS – Martins Corner (Milam), Tri-Lakes Tackle (Lufkin), Wulf Outdoors (Center & Athens), Needmore Tackle (Sam Rayburn) and Hales Tackle Shop (Nacogdoches) The chip works with my Lowrance / Navionics Platinum chip and overlays the waypoints, trails, data, etc. Hope this helps...............

Quick report from last few days: Lots of fish being caught in flats and coves off of Carrice. Also good numbers and sizes found in the back of Hines Creek off Palo Gaucho. Fish the grass in 6-8 ft of water. Wind blown points producing well too. Water temps ranging from 59 - 66 while averaging mostly around 61. Rogues, pointers, swim jigs, and wacky worms producing well. Good confirmation on reports from Corsey creek area too as Catt posted earlier.

Catt, Please excuse my lack of knowledge, but when you refer to "the mouth of 944", are you referring to Bull Creek area or the old 944 roadbed out at the mouth of Housen? Thanks.

Good Question ATX. My wife comes with me a lot. She's a photographer, so being on the water lends many opportunities to capturing some really great views of the scenery on and around the water. She's a heck of a fisherman too...... The compromise is I put the rod down every once and a while and make sure I take her to some spots for her to be able feed her hobby. So taking her with me and participating in what she does........goes a LONG way...... Just my 2 cents.....

Hey Catt, While it appears no one is fishing and you mentioned the killing of grass............... Can you offer any tips or information towards the cold effect this has on the grass beds on Toledo? Also, is any particular type of grass is affected by the cold weather more than others?

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
On Toledo Bend, I've tried numerous colors...........but have done the best with Bill Lewis Rattle Trap in "Chrome Shad" color (silver / blue back scales pattern / orange belly) Tried a few other brands in the similar color pattern and did almost as well.......but the original Bill Lewis has produced the best. My guess is this color pattern must be pretty spot on to "match of the hatch" at certain times of the year.

Sorry, but I must have missed the opportunity to learn that.........so any rate..............HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you Catt........ I hope you have many more years of spending time with the family, hitting the water, and just keeping us all schooled........... If I can dare to speak for some of us all that have been viewing, participating, questioning, contributing, and even just trolling for information...........Thanks for your willingness to be such a helpful, gracious, and kind man. You have shared much wisdom, generosity, and just plain good old fashion advice. Express Kid, I actually do own the 7'-6 Xtra Heavy Duckett flipping rod. It was the last rod I just purchased, but fairly different from the 7'-6" Heavy version. Haven't had the chance to really utilize it yet (been busy throwing crankbaits). But, I can assure you it's as stiff as a jeep axle and will have no problem yanking those big gals out of the spinach on TB. I'm actually looking forward to my next opportunity to punch some mats with it. Hey Catt, I've got one of those 6'6 MH cork handle Crucials too and really love that rod. Probably my No. 3. (great for crankbaits.....LOL) I only wish I had bought more when they were available. If Bass_Fanatic hasn't responded yet, you can find the Powells at ***.com. Most folks I know buy most of their fishing tackle / supplies / equipment there because they offer a such a wide variety of items you won't find at Bass Pro. Prices good. Save on paying taxes. Usually get free shipping too. If you haven't visited the site yet, do so. you'll be glad you did. Good luck.........

Express Kid, If you're looking at Duckett rods.........make sure you consider the ones listed below on Duckett's website. I have become partial to 7'-6" length rods and have both of them. They are definitely my top two favorite. DFMM76H-C (heavy action) football head jigs, 1 oz spinnerbaits, carolina rig DFMM76MH-C (medium heavy action) 1/2- 3/4 oz open water jig, carolina rig, 3/4 oz spinnerbait, mid-size swim baits Either can be had at Bass Pro for around $160. Just my $.02 Good luck shopping. Bear
