  1. Yeah, money is the issue. I would have dozens if I could, but I'm starting out on baitcasting, so it may take a little bit to get to that point.
  2. Ok, PQ it is. I might get the H2O as well since I have a spare rod that wouldn't get used otherwise. Thanks everyone!
  3. Hey guys, I just got an email on this one: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Nitro-Tournament-Z-LowProfile-Baitcast-Reels/product/1201111008121/?cm_sp=COTWNitroTourZApr2013_Email&om_rid=Ns86po&om_mid=_BRZD6JB8x4QmNP What do you think? It's the Nitro Tournament Z, normally $99, on sale for $59.
  4. I just read a few reviews on these and they look good too. I would just get both if I had the money.
  5. Thanks for all the information everyone. I'll got with the Pro Qualifier.
  6. Hey, forgive me if this has already been asked, but I didn't find anything when I did a couple searches. I was wondering if anyone has used, or does use the Bass Pro Shop brand of baitcasting reel. I was wondering if this one in particular was any good as a first time reel. I picked up an Abu Garcia 7' medium-heavy rod on clearance a couple weeks ago, and have been looking at putting the Abu Garcia Black Max or Silver Max on it. I'm just curious if this would be better. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Bionic-Plus-Baitcast-Reels/product/1207260456523/ I was there this afternoon just looking at them and was wondering. Thanks!
  7. I just checked again and now they break it down right on the sign up site: https://secure.palmcoastd.com/pcd/!webtrack.eSrv?iMagId=57000&i6Ky=NEWMEM&iOrderType=ORD&iMemberType=H&iPromo=I**BMNB1&addata=BM
  8. Sweet! I was wondering when it actually starts getting warm here. Thanks for that information. Where do you spend most of the time fishing?
  9. Congratulations! I can't wait to get myself one. I got an Abu Garcia rod the other day. I just need to get a reel to go with it.
  10. Hey, thanks for the information. I'll look into that.
  11. Thanks everyone.
  12. I go whether I am going to catch anything or not. The ice off the lakes are just starting to melt, but I found a pond yesterday that was clear of ice and I fished it for a bit. I didn't catch anything, but I'm not surprised.
  13. My Dad didn't fish, so my Grandpa started taking me when I was about 5 years old. I kind of fished whatever, whenever growing up as we didn't live near him, so I didn't learn much on my own. I just started look at bassresource.com this last summer and my abilities fishing have grown exponentially, though I am still learning and very new to bass fishing.
  14. You're a lucky man. My wife loves that I fish and is excited for me to start taking our children. My son is 2 and I had him out there with me this last summer.
  15. Ahh... ok. Good to know. I really want the real, but I guess I could save the money now and get a different real and rod for the extra money and up it to the lifetime later. Thanks for all the help guys.
  16. Yeah, a lot of the ponds I fish just before work or at lunch time don't have maps for them. I just try to do like Deaknh03 said, and check the shoreline, coupled with the a carolina rig for just figuring out stumps, rocks and drop offs.
  17. Ok, thanks a lot. I appreciate it. I was just trying to decide if it was more advantageous to wait and save up for the lifetime or just go ahead and get the year membership now and renew with the lifetime next year.
  18. Hey everyone, I did a quick search of the forums and didn't see anything relating to this so, I apologize if this is a re-post. Has anyone recently signed up for the lifetime B.A.S.S. membership that can tell me what the gifts for joining are, specifically the Abu Garcia reel on the site currently?
  19. You can always try and find underwater topographical maps. Usually you can find them for the bigger/more popular lakes. You may be able to find them online. It just depends. I know we have a local sporting goods store that has the bigger lakes, which can be useful when on the shore of those. Clackerbuzz sent me the video below if you need help reading a map like that.
  20. I just want to say thanks again to everyone for the advice. It looks like it is going to warm up enough for some of the ice to melt over this weekend and into the week, but it may freeze again next week. I'll see what I can do. Any chance I can get I'll be out there practicing like Felix said.
  21. Ok, I'll give this a try. I'm still trying to figure out when to go out and not. Any given day the water could be frozen right now, and I live 45 minutes from the closest place to fish. It's frustrating living here when it comes to fishing.
