  1. This is not a "how do i fish canals" question. I've fished my local canal 5-10 times since I moved and can catch Mayans all day but no bass. I've pretty much given up on it for now. I was just wonder if you guys have experienced catching fish in these little drainage canals when the weather turns. I have to imagine that these canals get too hot for much action during the dead of summer but I would love the idea of being able to walk one block down and catch bass in November and December. 2. Only lucky if you can catch one!
  3. Went to wolf lake today and got skunked. Really wanted to catch a peacock. Saw a couple but couldn't get them to bite.
  4. Eh. Getting out in the kayak is always fun and I could use the practice casting, but that's about all it was worth. No bites and very little sign of life.
  5. I'm loving kayak fishing and I'd like to get a 5lb bass this year (would be PB since starting bass fishing). I have one good kayakable lake in Deerfield Beach and a few shore spots but being new in S. Florida, I haven't really been able to do much bass fishing yet. Anyone fishing from a kayak and want a fishing buddy? I'd love to do some everglades fishing but definitely not doing it alone. Thanks! Ben
  6. Hitting it up via kayak tomorrow. Going to start with topwater frog and go from there. Any help appreciated.
  7. Bought a kayak so i can go get some saltwater fishing in. This S. FL summer is killing me. But I'm excited about Nov-Mar!
  8. Just bought a kayak today and I need to go somewhere to test it out and get back in the practice. I plan on using it mostly for salt water but since I'm taking it out anyways, I might as well try and catch a fish. Anywhere in the above areas you guys would recommend putting in a kayak?
  9. Do you guys sight fish peas? Or just find a nice looking lake and throw in a fast moving lure? I went to a canal and a pond today in cooper city I think, beside I-75. No luck.
  10. "RVA" is a bit of a misnomer. I have relocated to South Florida where all the retention ponds have fish.
  11. I feel you. Skunked again today. I know there are fish in there. When does the fw fishing get good again?
  12. Going to try this turnpike pond: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=25.971356,-80.228399&num=1&t=h&z=19 Hopefully I can get my first top water bite. Who else is going out?
  13. I have a dumb problem that I'm sure has an easy solution. I drive an SUV and keep the rear seats down. I slide my fishing poles in the cargo area when done fishing but the hooks (especially on crankbaits) get caught in the carpet. What do you guys do to prevent this?
  14. How did you attack the pond? What did most of the strikes come from?
  15. It's only illegal if you get caught. If you're not going back, you wanna share the spot?
  16. Which direction from Richmond? Any other details that can help narrow the search area?
  17. I caught the dink on a lizard and both others were lipless crankbaits. Lost the crankbait on a ledge... Lost half a lizard on a gar. Also saw this weird catfish that looked like it was coming up to breathe air.
  18. Success! Caught 3 decent bass, a dinker, a medium guy and a nice one. Also foul hooked a pleco. Florida is crazy.
  19. Thanks. I enjoy the hunting aspect of finding water that holds fish. I've resigned myself that i'm probably not going to find a trophy bass until fall. But I'm marking the places I catch fish for further exploration when it cools.
  20. Hmmm...I haven't even seen a snakehead. Any good target spots? Do they feed in this heat or is it better fishing in the fall and winter?
  21. T-rigged worms (and lizards) is pretty much the only thing I use anyways. Bass fishing is new to me and worms are simple. Hard lures are complicated, I never know which ones to use and how to fish them.
  22. Again, new here, this type of fishing is new to me, etc. I live near this pond: http://goo.gl/maps/FpUat Is it worth spending a couple hours fishing something like this? What ould you look for? Ho would you approach it? As always, thanks a ton!
  23. How are the fishing piers in Broward/Miami? Any recommendations if i want to catch some snapper or other good eatin' fish? Tactics?
  24. I would love to see a citation from a case in which that happens. There is absolutely no way that that's true. State law does not preempt the constitution and a hundred years of case law states that a peace officer must swear a warrant with probable cause in order to search a home.
