  1. Yes it is. The United States Constitution does not offer exemptions for game wardens. The State of Illinois can write anything in their laws they want but that does not preempt the constitution. There are a couple of things in that section you quoted. For example "pursuant to law" means that the law enforcement authority has to abide buy legal restrictions of their authority. Also the law only allows game wardens to do these searches when looking for mammals and birds and must have "reason to believe"...sounds like probable cause to me.
  2. What I have done in my new neighborhood is get on google maps. You should be able to see al the local bodies of water. If you see a local pond you can switch to the satelite mode and zoom in to see if there is shore access.
  3. Heading back to broward tomorrow after a weekend in the keys. I'm never this far south so I figured I would stop for an hour or so on the way back to try my luck. Any reccomendations of ponds or canals?
  4. Going to Marathon for the weekend. Anyone ever do any shore fishing in the keys? Should I just put a simple bottom rig with some shrimp or squid and throw it out?
  5. Snook, you can feel free to PM me that location of that spot and I'll clear the snakes out for you!
  6. Finally caught some bass! Found a local pond and have been catching some small large mouths on plastic worms. All have been very small but if there are small bass then there's got to be big ones in there too.
  7. I love cycling and honestly could care less about PED's. Good racing is good racing.
  8. This has become the official "South Florida Transplant Whine About Bass Thread"! Spent about 45 minutes throwing a horny toad at my local canal tonight with no luck. In case anyone is curious, this is my usual spot... http://goo.gl/maps/kjfdL
  9. The topic that won't die! Skunked again today! I can catch those d**n Mayan Cichlids all day long but I can't catch a bass to save my life.
  10. Thanks guys. I'm in Miramar in Broward. Honestly I like to catch anything. I figured peas might be best since its so hot. I've caught a ton of Mayan Cichlids with night crawlers but I really want to target something bigger. I've thought about trying for snook or even freshwater tarpon. I don't mind driving. Im also willing to split gas if anyone has a boat and wants company.
  11. Trying to get on some peacock bass this weekend. I don't have a boat. Is the Blue Lagoon worth driving out to to fish from the bank? If not, any suggestions on bank fishing for peas?
  12. I'm in Miramar, Broward County but I'm willing to drive.
  13. I'd like to go fishing tomorrow morning and since it seems it's getting to hot for LMB and I've never caught either Pea's or Snakes I thought I'd give it a try. Anyone going out tomorrow that could handle some company and wants to show me the ropes? I'll bring the coffee!
  14. I was pretty sure at first that this was a small Peacock but then I started doubting myself. There's a nice spot on the tail which you can't really see. I grew up catching bluegill, bream and the occasional LMB in the Black Water River in VA. This Florida fishing is tripping me up.
  15. Heck yeah man. When I see what work looks like this week I'll hit you up. Thanks a lot.
  16. Went out around noon today. Caught a small peacock on a lizard and then got skunked for about an hour. I broke down and bought some nightcrawlers at Dick's. Just threw a nightcrawler on a hook and tossed it in my local canal. Caught 4-5 small peacocks, a super skinny LMB and a mystery fish. The fish had a LMB type mouth, vertical stripes but the most prominent feature was spots all over its body. Oh, and teeth! Two small, pointy teeth in its lower jaw, possibly more in upper.
  17. Miramar. I'm new at the bass fishing thing and had luck with senkos when I lived in NYC but getting killed here in FL.
  18. Since I moved from NYC to South Florida two weeks ago I've been skunked completely. No bites even. I'd like to just reel some fish in to see if I even remember how! Where do you guys go to catch fish when you don't care about size?
  19. I have some zoom horny toad's that I will rig up weightless. What time of day do you guys go out fishing? I've been going around 7:30am and have had no luck.
  20. I learned to fish crappie with crickets and minnows in Virginia and spent the last 4 years fishing LMB occasionally in NYC. I've never even seen a peacock bass. I would love to catch one. Those guys get more active in hotter weather than LMB right?
  21. I just moved to South Florida and have moved in to a house in Miramar. A block from my house is a 20' wide canal. I've seen fish in there but Ive been out twice so far and got skunked. I'm fishing a green topwater frog at abour 7:30 am. Any suggestions? What would you guys do if approaching a small canal you've never fished in?
  22. I'm open to as far as 45-60 minutes. I obviously don't want to live in the hood but I also don't need to live in a gated community. With two big dogs that are protection trained (my other hobby) know one's breaking in to my house.
