Hey fellow bassers, I hope this isn't too off topic. I'm military and will be transferring to Miami Beach this summer. Super psyched about 365 days a year of fishing and peacock bass! Anyone have any suggestions for decent areas to rent a house? No kids but a wife and two dogs so I really want a yard. Thanks guys!

Bosun, you'd be happy to know that although it has a inside cabin I've never seen it used. When the weather is nice everyone wants to be outside, when it's rough no one is allowed inside.

It's a different process since your retired Bosun. I have to have my list in by November. No bonus points for putting it in early as he doesn't look at them until that day.

This might be slightly off topic but I figured it was the best place for it. I'm active duty Coast Guard and will be transferring this upcoming summer. It's time for me to send my detailer a list of places I'd like to go. I would love for some of you guys to help me out by telling me how the fishing/hunting is and how easy it is to get in the "outdoors". I would love somewhere where I could live close to fishing and hunting and make a reasonable commute in to work. I'm coming from NYC so anything is better than here! Some of my potential stations are: Portland, OR Portland, ME Tampa, FL Miami, FL Jacksonville, FL Ft. Smith, AR St. Louis, MO Louisville, KY Anyone live any of these places?

So I went out again today and got a single very small (8" ish) bass for 4 hours of fishing. After reading it's definitely possible I mistook some soft bites for weeds and lost the fish by not setting the hook. I'm going out tomorrow at around 8am to try again. It's supposed to be clear and in the morning the air temp should be around 60 and warming to 70. The water temp is probably 65-67. How would you fish? Use the worm the whole morning? Use a spinner first or jig or crank or topwater? Remember I only have one pole so it's not super easy for me to move through three or four lures.

I've fished my entire life but I grew up fishing with worms and minnows for panfish and the like for my granddad's fryer in a river in Virginia. I've caught a few bass in my life but I've never fished for them. I have some free time and I've been doing some fishing. I've been out to a couple local ponds and lakes about 5 times and haven't caught squat, Tomorrow I'm waking up early and going to prospect park in Brooklyn to try again. Prospect park has a stocked lake that is supposedly more dense with LMB than any other fishery in NY. I bought a pack of Senka 5 inch worms in 194 color. My current plan is to rig these weightless and throw them all morning making my way around the lake. I only have one pole and it's not a very good on at that but that's all a poor enlisted coast guardsman can afford! So...Is that a decent plan? Should I do anything different? Weather tomorrow is overcast and 70 degrees.
