  1. The reels are compared all the time here, and and i dont think you can go wrong with either. I own a lews TP and love it.
  2. I enjoy when angler's fish large, well known lakes, or at least natural areas. It annoys me when Bill Dance's episode is just a 30 minute lure showcase on a pellet fed pond. Either way i still watch it haha.
  3. Thanks for the quick reply haha. Well i might just have to try it out. Sounds fun
  4. Do you think these big swimbaits would be effective in N. IL waters? Thinking about trying one out Thanks
  5. Yeah there are some good tips online, just wanted to see if anyone here has been there and if they've had success. It isn't my first time going, just the first time taking a boat. Hoping for a few nice fish
  6. Headed out to Lake Shabbona tomorrow. Planning on using slip bobber rig with minnows because there are 3 kids >11 and they can't have anything too complicated. Its for my little brothers birthday haha. Any tips for fishing this lake? Anyone have success there?
  7. Definitely sounds like lamprey to me
  8. That does sound pretty interesting to tie my own. And cheaper
  9. I definitely like how the seibert jigs look. Under 3$ is a nice price and you guys seem to really like them. Maybe i'll pick up some Northstar and Seibert to try them both, thanks!
  10. Thanks i'll take a look at those! I'm just trying to save some money because i know i'll be buying alot
  11. Hahahahaha^^
  12. I did a search for this and couldn't find anything... So my friends and i have been throwing ALOT of jigs lately. Were probably gonna make an order for a bunch of them. What are your favorite jigs that are at a pretty good price?
  13. Powell endurance would be my vote
  14. Its been all jigs for me, flippin into heavy cover
  15. I also love the endurance 723 for jigs. It has caught me quite a few fish this year, looking foward to getting some more endurances
  16. As warmer weather rolls around the topwater action around here really heats up. One lure that i'll occasionally throw with confidence is the fishing snake. I got the fishing snake for Christmas a few years back(the 100$ package! Yikes too many!) and i haven't fished it all too much. I do have some good fish on them and they do work. One thing that surprises me is how much hate they get. No one seems to like them at all! Personally, i dont mind them. I fish in illinois, and they trigger quite a few explosive strikes! The best part about them is their hook up ratio Pros- entice savage strikes Great luck with them at night Weedless Attract big fish Realistic Float Fantastic hook up ratio(much better than frogs!) Cons- Casting is dreadful! They are heavy! If you ise too heavy of a hook or swivel they will sit an inch under the water They melt in the sun Some important notes Dont leave them in the sun After opening them, keep them in a ziploc with cooking spray in it Use heavy tackle Try the black at night Im not sure if i buy a whole order of these, but if you can get your hands on a few try em out! My favorite experience was when i had two 3+lbers jump out of the water trying to eat it at the same time. This is just my opinion on these lures, they have their pros and cons, have a great summer everybody!
  17. I've tried this and took it off within a couple minutes. It takes away the 'weedless' advantage of a spinnerbait
  18. I agree the endurance is an awesome rod, i just got mine this year. I use the 723 for a lot of different techniques, i even had to flip and pitch with it yesterday, and it worked fine. I definitely wouldn't miss that deal on fish ranger
  19. Theres a 25$ rebate if i buy a PFlueger and a Fenwick, so i'm leaning towards that. Anyone know which rod is better, the hmg or hmx?
  20. The Fenwick looks pretty nice! And i do like the idea of the diesel, its just without a warranty i'd be nervous of it breaking
  21. All these rods are roughly the same price, would you choose one over another? I'm up for a new spinning rod, Looking for 7ft, M, used for shaky head, dropshot, senkos, and probly even some really small cranks. St.Croix rage or mojo Veritas Powell diesel Johnny morris carbonlite Compre I'll spend 150 tops, but i dont necessarily want to
  22. The only rods i ever used braid on was a frog pole and catfish rod. I didnt mind it. I want to know what rods you would put braid on, and which scenerios to use leaders, or do you always use a leader? I only use FC now, and dont known if i should switch. Mainly wondering about a jig and finesse rod
  23. Awesome thanks guys, i usually wait until june or so whenever it really warms up thats why i was wondering. Maybe i'll give it ago this evening!
