c-rig from shore?
I've got a 6'6" med rod as well but I'm using fireline instead of mono to feel the pick ups... My leader is vanish transition, and so far the combo's been working great for me... I've got a few baitcasters, that I've used but haven't tried them with the c-rig as of yet.. I'f I do it'll more then likely be with heavier weights then what I use for my spinning tackle... Best of luck to you!!

c-rig from shore?
I've been working with an 18" leader, on my c-rig... I guess the area where you're fishing(weeds, rocks, etc) will determine your leader length... Btw, are you using a baitcaster or spinning tackle for c-rigging??

c-rig from shore?
Hey fellow bank beater !! I've been working a c-rig from shore for a few weeks now and have had my best luck with lighter weights(1/8 to 1/4), depending on the bottom and what the fish want... On my most productive set up, I was using a 3/16th oz weight with a 4" purple creme worm... Within 2 hours I caught 12 bass, now mind you they weren't all keepers, but I doubt any were under 10 inches.. To me that's a great day, especially when you haven't caught any in a while... FYI: There's also an article or 2 on c-rigging on the site, so you might wanna look them up as well.. I think they were under fishing techniques... Hope I was some help to you.. Best of luck, Tux

In praise of shore fishing
I love kicking back on shore, its my favorite way to fish, but I won't turn down an invite to fish in a boat...

Carolina Rig Tips
One other thing.... Are you all shaking your rigs to make the "clicks", or just letting it bump and slide along to make it the sounds?? I've been working it both ways and it seems that my shaking attracted more pick ups... What's your input on this??

Carolina Rig Problem
What sort of 3/4 oz weight were you using?? Was it the tungsten or the lead weights?? I've heard that the tungstens are notorious for fraying, and or breaking your line.. I may have had that happen once this weekend but not sure .. Also what sort of knots were you tying for your set up?? Hope you figure it out? Best of luck to you, on c-rigging !! Tux

who cares if bill dance fishes from a stocked pond
IMHO, BILL ROCKS!!! Him and Hank were the first shows I watched when I started back in fishing... Heck I even had a cat that watched them both with me, as soon as he heard the theme song for either he'd come out and sit deadcenter of the tv and watched and pawed the screen...lol Back to Bill... I've learned so much from his shows, its not about where he fishes or who his sponsors, but about what lure he's trying to instruct you on... Hey, he was the person who got me turned on to ultra light fishing.. WHatever he trying to show you that's what he stays with, be it a spinner, or plug, or about structure sit down and take it in, because when an old sage speaks the words are golden even when it may be what some may consider long winded... I'm glad that they were the first fishing shows I got to see .. Tux

Carolina Rig Tips
One question for the c-riggers here.... How many beads do you used for your rig, just 1 or 2?? Tux

Your buddy is hammerin fish and your NOT!!!
I agree with all thats been said, but I remember something Bill dance brought up once also.. How much line does your buddy have on his reel... The amount of line on your reel determines your actuall retrieve speed.... If he's a little low on line, he may be going at the right speed to attach the bass... I've experienced this as well.. Sorry about your thumb as well.. Tux

fishing magazines
Not sure if fishing facts is still around, but it was one of my favs.. They were the ones who broke it down to me on working a worm, in a technique that's not mentioned too much these days... Also, it wasn't just written by big names, but just ordinary folk, who wanted to share their ideas and secrets.. In fisherman is also on my list as well as bassin, and field and stream... I go with whatever catches my eye and interest, when cruising the mags at whatever store I'm in...lol Besides my lady can always find me when we go shopping(mags, or sporting goods ) lol...

Looking at getting an inflatable..
I'm looking at getting an inflatable boat, rather than a jonboat or something.. The reasons for this are: 1. No space to put a boat..(major) 2. Minimal amount of cash..(medium) 3. no hitch for my truck lol.. Was wondering what your opinions were on inflatables... Tux

Boats Catch Increase?
Put your stuff in a back pack Popper.. Makes for easier carrying and storage.. I used to do a LOT of "run-n-gun" shore fishing and it was the only way to go.. I also had and inflatable and used the same set up with not probs.. Just make sure you buy GOOD storage boxes that wont warp when they get too hot and maybe even the ones that are water tight, would be a good deals as well ... They worked for me and still do.. Hope it helps ?? Tux!!
