What Am I Doing Wrong
As posters have said, check your knots, then your line. Are you breaking off at the exact moment of hook set? Are you sure it isn't some kind of snag like an immovable tree trunk? I can count on 1 hand the # of busted lines I've had on the actual hook set so for this to happen a few times a day for you means you're probably doing something wrong.

What About You?
Whenever I'm on the water, I always take time to pause and look around me, thinking of the millions of people who are not seeing, feeling and experiencing what I'm feeling. My buddy is a big shot lawyer who lives in a million dollar home. And although he leads a happy life, he's also quick to talk about how envious he is that my schedule allows me to be out on the water basically any day I'd like to be. Typically, I'm talking to him as he's working in his office and I'm out catching fish. I also love the mental challenge of fooling the fish with any lure. It's like mental sparring--I actually thank the first fish I catch on any trip for "making it worthwhile" for me to be out there. It might be strange, it might be weird, but I think of it as thanking nature.

Jig Fishing Questions
I tried jig fishing for the first time recently and had decent success (3 keeper fish in about 1.5 hours). I treated it more like a jerk bait and visualized the jig as a crawfish slowly walking on the bottom and then swimming off rapidly in 2-3 quick movements. So it went something like: Reel veeeery slowly then JERK - JERK! The fish took it usually on the "jerk" and it felt "mushy". The 3rd fish I caught almost felt like weeds or a hang up because it was so close to the boat and it just felt that way. To my surprise, the weeds turned out to be the biggest bass of the day (and my personal best).

Non Boater Tips
Ok, really noob questions. During a tournament, I presume the boater and non-boater separate their catches in 2 different livewells correct? a. How might this be different if the boater is competing against the non-boater versus a team format? b. What if, awkwardly, the non-boater is reaching his limit and needs use of the larger livewell on the boat? Thanks.

Determining Rod Preference
That makes sense Roadwarrior, thank you. Both the combos feel balanced to me, at least in my own hands. What I'm trying to determine as well is if I purchase the longer, lighter Carbonlite rod will THAT actually be a better fit due to the increased length OR stick with the Shimano rod because it "feels" more solid?

Determining Rod Preference
I'm starting to build up my equipment collection and determining what I like or don't like. I could use some input here please. One of my favorite combos is a Pfleuger Supreme baitcaster (discontinued) paired with a 7'2" Shimano Curado rod. I recently purchased a BPS Pro Qualifier Combo Baitcaster with a 6'6" Carbonlite and I find this combo less appealing. It's almost as if it's "too light" if that makes any sense. I certainly cast shorter distances with this one. Is it possible to actually prefer the heavier combo? I want to buy more but need help from those with more experience. Thanks.

New To Bass Looking For Some Help
Yes, read ALL the articles in this forum and look for plenty more on the internet. I suggest picking up books and magazines on the subject (shoot, just borrow from the library to save you money). My suggestion is to pick 1-2 types of lures so that you can focus on the necessary techniques to be successful. A crankbait can keep your interest and there's also active action with jigs and spinnerbaits. If you've got the patience, plastic worms are great lures for bass but you've got to fish them SLOWLY. Good luck and have fun!

Dealing With Wolfpacks
I was shopping for a brand new Mercedes Benz AMG Black edition the other day and the dealership didn't have the rims I wanted. Oops, I thought this was the "Problems we wish we have" thread. Lucky you having more than one bass fighting over your lures!

Greetings From The Philippines
Mabuhay! I agree with the Senko/Senko style baits and I'm also a huge fan of crankbaits. Crankbaits are great search baits and will keep you more interested versus do-nothing live baits. Plus, there is less line watching and experience needed with a crankbait because you WILL feel the strike. Hope to visit the Philippines again soon. Tight lines!

Craiglist Scam Marshal Pesta
I was looking for a tow vehicle recently and received this scam from two separate listings. They were exactly the same except for: a. The first seller was an Air Force lieutenant getting ready to go to Afghanistan. b. The second seller was a recent widower who was selling the truck because it reminded her of her dead husband. Real scumbags these people. Both were selling 10 year old Toyota Tacoma at exactly 62,000 miles. Both cars were ready to be shipped by eBay Motors and all I had to do was pay the money. I replied back to both of them how amazed I was at the similarities of their stories. I also let them know that I am LAPD. Neither replied back after that.

Short Video Catching A Few Small Bass Yesterday. New Gopro Hero3
A small suggestion. I think the video would look better with the fishing seat down or out of the way.

Quick Advice Needed!
In this situation, the grass does not seem to be greener. What's the upside? You get to your favorite spot 1 minute faster? It isn't even "fish ready" in terms that you still need to add the electronics you want. If I were you, no thanks.

My Head Is About To Explode
I can relate because I'm an information *****. I read books, magazines, blogs, forums, threads and even instruction manuals. But as people have said, nothing beats a day on the water with even a little bit of success. I've learned how to move my favorite crankbait to the point that I haven't been skunked on it yet (I just jinxed myself, I know). Rest assured, your brain won't explode. Humans are awesome like that!

What Does Everyone Wear To Protect Their Face?
From the sun and what not? I've been looking at the Buff headwear but wanted to know if there are other brands I'm missing out on. I like the flexibility of the Buff style. Thanks.

2013 Pro Team 165 Vs 175
Everything I've read about buying a boat has led to: Bigger is always better. If you can swing it, get the larger boat. You will never say "Hmm, I think the livewell is too large". But you risk saying the opposite with the smaller one.

Carolina Rig And Texas Rig
I prefer the T-rig because as you said, it's easier to rig. I also like casting a T-rig more than the cumbersome C-rig.
