  1. Can the title of this be changed once the Indians eliminate the Red Sox?
  2. As a Clevelander I have to say that I absolutely love the way the Red Sox are playing right now!
  3. my mistake. I only fish tournaments there, so that is the understanding that I was working off of.
  4. I resisted the temptation for as long as I could, but 2 weeks ago picked up a 130 size in Chubby. That did well enough for me to go out and get the 90 size in bone this past weekend. The 90 has done even better for me that I had just ordered a 90 and 130 in the Loon color. I thought this was surely one of those gimmick lures, but my goodness has it turned into a very fun lure to fish.
  5. My issue with the two Lew's that I have used are that they were great right out of the box, but after a few years of hard fishing they seem to wear out faster than any of my other reels. My personal opinion is that they are not built for the long haul like a Shimano and/or Diawa would be.
  6. October is when the smallmouth bite really picks up. As far as early spring you won't be able to fish as season doesn't officially begin until the third Saturday of June. From my personal experience on Chautauqua I would stay on the Southern end of the lake. The Northern end of the lake seems to get rougher when the wind is blowing.
  7. Maggots only eat rotten/spoiled meat so there must have been non artificial bait in there for the flies to lay their eggs. Maggots themselves don't smell. It is the material that they infest that smells. They are still used in today's health care for cleaning wounds like bed sores with tissue necrosis . The only thing I can think of is that the flies were attracted to the "Live Prey Technology" (read: scent) mixed in them.
  8. Look no further than the Reaction Innovation products for both ridiculous product and color names.
  9. Only on jigs. Hooks are cheap enough that I can throw it away if it goes dull. I will usually loose a hook before it goes dull though.
  10. Yes, it's a War Eagle.
  11. I would throw a twin arm spinnerbait like this.

I don't fish hard baits too often, so GYCB wins for the senko and flapping hog.
  13. I see you are in Beverly. If you were closer to the Cleveland area I would hook you up with a St. Croix Premier rod that I don't use much for a reasonable price.
  14. You can always upgrade the rod to a better quality down the road if you go with the combo you posted.
  15. I think the conversation for the reel should begin and end with the Pflueger President. I would go with the 30 size for all around use. In regards to the rod the main question to ask yourself is how careful do you think he will be with his gear? If there is any chance that you think he will be hard on his gear I would opt to go with the ugly stick. If he is more likely to take care of things then I would opt for the Vengeance.
  16. The best thing to do if you miss a strike on your frog is to follow it up immediately with a senko, or trick worm, in the spot you had the blow up.

They are available at Gander MTN.
  18. When I am bank fishing I am mainly flipping and pitching to weed lines and lay downs. The baby d bombs have been the best producer for me this year and it hasn't even been close.
  19. Only the fish will be able to tell you the answer to your question.
  20. I was throwing it on a 6'8" St. Croix LTB Medium/XFast, Daiwa SS SV, 30# Daiwa J-Braid, and a 12# leader of Invisix. Texas rigged on a 4/0 hook and an 1/8oz weight.
  21. I just had a chance to fish the Scissor comb this weekend. I caught a few with it, and it didn't fall apart as easily as some other soft plastics. One thing that was really cool to see is that the legs up and down the side flickered really fast as it was being retrieved. When I paused and let the bait drop down the tentacle like arms stood up and waived around with the waters movement. It's definitely another arrow in the quiver.
  22. Why not use the size larger so that the screw lock has more material to bite into?
  23. That's not correct at all. The best reels are made in Japan.
  24. Check out some sites like www.steepandcheap.com or www.massdrop.com.
