Are you a hammer?
He should have painted Mr. Make Believe on the side of his boat instead.

^This^ is why Tim is the man. Anyone who has fished for muskies understands that seeing a fish counts as partial success. And anyone who's had a musky glare at them inches from their boat understands why musky fishers are driven to keep fishing.

Fishing Prescription!
More about the reasons behind the prescriptions: https://www.mensjournal.com/health-fitness/fishing-good-mens-mental-health-british-study My last trip to Canada to fish was a three-weeker and when you're alone for a couple weeks, your brain quiets, as least mine does. The chatter stops and you just watch. I love the silence.

Woody, you saw that drawing of the mirror carp I posted and you likely noted the size of their scales. Some of those scales are huge.

White bass are a blast. I once caught a mirror carp in the Mississippi just downriver of the Twin Cities. Here's a mirror carp:

And yet, simply launching on the beautiful Susky means that you're immediately and forever a winner.

I haven't caught drum for years simply because I haven't fished water holding drum, but I used to catch them on the Mississippi and they were fun and I'd gladly catch them again. Small chain pickerel are the fish I'd be happy to not catch because they save their fighting energy for when I try to unhook them.

Attainable Goal(s) for 2024
I keep trying to take our water temps, but the ice won't let me. I'm thinking of buying an auger and casting a Whopper Plopper into that hole.

Louis Babel Ecological Reserve
The island in the center is 2,020 square kilometers. It's the second largest island in the world. Those lakes in the island are vast themselves. It's an amazing place.

Walleye and Smallmouth together?
I've found them mingled at bottlenecks where the wind is creating current, off points, and below waterfalls.

Whoa. I could not do this. I have enough hard lures, but bass literally chew through my Keitechs and Senkos. And because I now change my treble hooks two or three times per year, I have to buy those too.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
You know Glenn Rules: If one collects the praise, one must also bear the sheepshead shame. Roadwarrior can take the shame. Trust me. He might have hooked the world record smallmouth, so he's the real Man of Steel.- Hello!
If you're in a car and you drive over a bridge and feel the current tugging at you, that's the river choosing you. It is an honor.- Louis Babel Ecological Reserve
A meteorite hit northern Quebec, creating the crater below. I think a ring-shaped lake is wicked cool:- Latest Catch Pics Thread
@Fishlegs: That's a gorgeous smallmouth. She looks like a mount, too perfect to be real.- Attainable Goal(s) for 2024
@padlin: 55 pounds? Respect.- What are your local ratios?
@thediscochef, you're one of those 0 x 0 + 0 - 0 = 0 anglers, aren't cha? @gimruis, I don't know whether to laugh or gasp when I see those bass.- What are your local ratios?
Let's say I'm the rare smallie that's genetically capable of becoming a six-pounder. However, I might not have the predatory skills to do so or I might live in that part of the lake that would provide enough prey, by dint of competition or environment, to reach six pounds. I had NO idea that a male LMB could grow that big. Incredible. Too bad he didn't date Dot, that biggest LMB ever boated. - Attainable Goal(s) for 2024
