  1. I'm out of reactions, but I love @Pat Brown's comment.
  2. What's weird is that your weather isn't much different from ours. Our next five nights are in the teens, but that's about as cold as it's been this winter.
  3. I'll use anything you suggest, Tom.
  4. I LOVE those five-pounders, Alex. So, a seven-pounder hit your boat and you caught that giant bluegill too? What a day. Pat, it's your turn tomorrow. You and Alex have been tag-teaming the hogs. And then there's @Team9nine, the Energizer Bunny of bass angling. I'm excited for your new lakes, buddy!
  5. Tom, what does NLMB mean? I'm super-excited to fish those golden spoons you suggested. I own seven of them! Yep, that's the dam, @throttleplate. Cool that you catch muskies there too.
  6. Hey, I'm a Wolverine now; It's Big Ten all the way!
  7. Thanks for the heads-up. I don't need to catch hundreds. Just enough to give me confidence with a jig. I've jigged for walleyes and done well and caught smallies on jigs too. Now I want to catch some lmbs.
  8. The YouTuber, NDYakAngler, fishes a lot in MN and he catches big bass, both LM and SM, fine muskies, and big pike, so I totally believe in 50-fish days.
  9. @Carolina Pines, a three-pounder is a strong fish. Well done. Say, what's in that clear waterproof bag? It looks like my ditch kit, i.e. my change of clothing and fire-starting items in case I tip.
  10. @KSanford33: Thanks, fishin' buddy!
  11. Do you mind giving me a link to it? I'd sure like to read it. Same with your jig thread.
  12. I really like 1. and 2. However, I do want to get better at jig fishing and vertical fishing.
  13. You know how people write LOL even then they didn't. Well, I actually did laugh out loud! Another laugh our loud story!
  14. Way to go, Bob. How did you release him and what did the skunk do when you released him? A few summers back, I trapped and released 33 red squirrels, one at a time. They'd be bonkers on the drive to the woods, throwing themselves against the cage, but when we reached the release point and I'd open the door, many would refuse to leave the cage.
  15. Oh, I hope so! P. S. - I also like your PFD in the photo. I always wear mine too.
  16. @roadwarrior, I was hoping someone would second what I said because it does sound a little kooky.
  17. As a fellow small boat angler, I understand the challenges of landing bass from a wee platform. However, your bass are twice the size of my bass, so I don't believe for a nanosecond that you aren't an excellent angler.
  18. The bass YOU catch are worth the wait!
  19. Mid-May is too long for an angler to wait. I hope they extend your season. Northern Maine is like Minnesota. You have to wait and wait and wait to fish.
  20. Like @gimruis, it'll be months before I can contribute to this thread. My first bass in 2023 was mid-April, but if I fish from shore, I might manage a March bass. The problem with Maine shorelines is that they aren't parks. They're boulders and trees. I own a rod that was built for taping a reel to it, i.e. no reel seat that locked the reel to the rod.
  21. If you caught them between the Equator and the Arctic Circle, I think I know exactly where you caught them.
  22. Tell Jake that the first fish counts as a hundred bass. You're behind, Dad. Waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy behind.
  23. You're so far ahead of our time. I'm guessing in a decade or two, most of the smallie greats will be stink-bait fishing too, but for now, it's just you and your fishing buddies.
  24. @Dwight Hottle, just do what @TnRiver46 does when he sees a literal skunk. He grabs it, sticks it in his truck, and then goes home to catch 21" smallies. He's a lemons-to-lemonade kind of guy.
