Your fishing style in as few words as possible (explanation allowed)
Yeah, I didn't have a clue, which is nothing new for me. Now, ^this^ is something I do most every time I go fishing. I'll catch popper/plopper bass, underspin/spinner bass, and crankbait/wacky worm bass, giving me top, middle, and bottom bass.

Your fishing style in as few words as possible (explanation allowed)
Whoa! I've never had a day like that. I do like catching bass on different lures and I like my five-lure days, but I rarely top five effective lures in a day. I wish I had 10-lure days. Thanks for the explanation. It was a good one.

Your fishing style in as few words as possible (explanation allowed)
@Zcoker said that we should all develop our "own, unique fishing style" in the Old Timer thread. So, in as few words (Shoot for one to four words.) as possible, what's yours? My style is Sneaky Snake. Explanation: The longer I catch bass, the more convinced I am that they hear our motors and boat banging. So, I fish as quietly as possible. If my paddle or a rod hits my canoe, I wince. I even limit my headlamp usage. It's a thrill when you hook a four-pound bass five feet from you in two feet of water.

Where did the old timers go?
Yep, right now I am a desktop angler. Let's go fishing, Z! I actually do have my own style for seven months. It's called Rise and Shine and Sneaky Snake.

Where did the old timers go?
@Captain Phil, I still get such a kick out of the smallest things. I'm happiest in my garden (soil) and on a pond (water). dirt + water = simple bliss (and mud!)

Where did the old timers go?
Great reminder. I'm not far from my fishing roots. I was born in a trailer and raised three to a bed. My brothers and I used kite string to tie our Zebcos to our old bikes and went looking for water, incrementally finding a few beloved ponds to fish, but we were also happy catching tiny fish from tiny creeks. Now I strap my canoe to my car and take six rods and reels (Yeah, I'm relatively rich.), but I still look for water and have found a few favorite ponds to fish.

Who here fishes from the bank?
I always fish from the bank AT FIRST when I arrive at water. I love bank fishing because I get to stand. I can cast farther, set the hook better, and move up and down the bank to play the bass. It isn't unusual for me to catch a bass or two from the bank before I launch.

Where did the old timers go?
Don't sell yourself short. I really enjoy your posts. And ^here's^ Exhibit A of why I enjoy your posts. Both true and not true. In going back years and decades to read old threads, I encounter both parallel threads and ones I haven't seen in my time here. Anyway, I don't just come for the information. I like seeing what other anglers catch and especially in the winter when I'm catching nothing. Speaking of great posts, @geo g sure summarized the way a fishing life works. @islandbass, you are an old timer!

I'm Going To Japan!
I am so excited for you, Glenn! I love Japan. Seeing all that Japanese tackle will be a blast. Enjoy the toilets!

Where did the old timers go?
Yeah, I get that.

Where did the old timers go?
Good point. And I hope a lot of them are still fishing...and catching big brownies and greenies.

Where did the old timers go?
And you were there, Catt. You knew them. They were your cyber-pals. So, you're right about embracing today. @greentrout: Your tagline is my favorite at BR: Releasing a great fish is the greatest thrill I get from fishing. Ted Williams

Where did the old timers go?
I'm having a good time reading old threads, but I'm saddened to see how many posters from 10 or 15 years ago are gone. There are some constants, like @WRB, @Catt, @roadwarrior, @Bluebasser86, @A-Jay, and a few others, including @Glenn, of course, but I wonder why the rest left. I'm guessing it's a combination of aging out of fishing, getting too busy to fish due to a baby being born or work, etc., finding another pastime, loss of a boat, loss of fishing opportunities, cost, etc. And I wonder how many of us won't be here in five or ten years. I guess all we can do is to enjoy and support each other for as long as we're here.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
@NorcalBassin, you might have a 5G phone, but you have a 3G boat: 3 generations! Those spots sure are pretty. Good luck today, @Jamesg0418!

Have a little issue here
You made the right move. Bass fishing is hard. We don't need jealous anglers to make it even harder.

Cool, Jared.

If no electronics, then why?
I've fished a few mapped and marked lakes in northwestern Ontario like Lake of the Woods and some that drain it, but most of the water I've fished is unknown. You'd think a reef or boulder or hump would never surprise you in a canoe, but they sometimes, they do.

That's the Ontario I know.

When will a lady angler haver her own fishing show?
Amen, brother. This is what I tell other women, when I try to convince them to fish. Sure, men are stronger, but unless you're wrestling giant hammerhead sharks in the surf at night like the mighty Zcoker, men's strength advantage doesn't matter. Women have enough strength to land big bass. And for the kind of fishing I do, which is paddling quietly in shallow water, men and women are straight up equals. In my case, having paddled thousands of miles, I have an advantage over 99.9999999999999999% of men. When I take my young buddy fishing, I don't even permit him to paddle. I don't want him to bang the paddle against the canoe like so many do.

When will a lady angler haver her own fishing show?
I feel her pain. I have a female angling pal who's pretty well-known and she too has to weather the whispers, along the lines of, "She didn't really catch that fish."

Minnesota has rocky lakes. It's not quite as glaciated as northwestern Ontario where there's enough topsoil to grow about two ears of corn, but it's rocky enough to shear scores of lower units every year.

If no electronics, then why?
Let me edit that just a pinch: And 500 years ago, our ancestors set out to cross the ocean in wooden ships with a spyglass, sextant, compass, and maps in search of spices to become rich. They were worried because many of them died in the attempt, but the promise of wealth was the real siren, i.e. the monster that lures you to danger, of the sea.

When will a lady angler haver her own fishing show?
Tracy just brought property right down the road from me. I enjoy Christine too. I like how she shows all the fish she loses. It makes the big bass she catches that much sweeter. Plus, I trust her because she shows her lost bass. She's not leaving us to wrongly infer that she's a perfect angler who only catches big bass and never loses fish. This is why I share when I lose a big bass, which happens a lot, but it's the way fishing goes. In one of my three careers, I lectured to more than a million people, usually 600 at a time, but sometimes a couple thousand at a time. And I've had national columns that were read by millions. So, I know what it is to have an audience and I'm happier now being by myself in my slender canoe. But thanks for believing in me! I might buy a GoPro one day and post the video here. Sadly, I think you're right, Mike. I don't know the channels that you're referring too, but I have seen silly channels where the women are wearing full make-up and cute clothes. I don't even brush my hair or wear makeup for dinner parties and my fishing clothes look like I've fished beyond yonder and back, which I have. However, after forty years of wearing one Gore-Tex jacket, I bought another for twenty bucks on Ebay. It's old, but way nicer than my old coat.

When will a lady angler haver her own fishing show?
I just read this thread and three things stood out: Glenn's support of female anglers. How many BR posters in this thread are no longer posting. How all the female anglers who posted in this thread are gone.
