For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Nice fish, did you catch that at kill creek? Whats your trick out there? You hitting the deeper water around the trees, or getting back in the muck? I struggle to fish those trees in deeper water, I need some tips. I have caught a lot of fish there don't get me wrong, just looking for something new. Although you may have renewed my interest

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Found this old thread we need to get going again. I am stuck in a rut of Kill Creek and Gardner, need some new holes to frequent. Any of you KC area fisherman found any good spots lately that would work for a small boat? I have fished this year at Kill Creek, decent but nothing of size. SMP, had a real nice morning there that included a 2.5 lb, 18 inch fish. Lake Lenexa once on pre spawn, caught some small bass but I can see in a couple years this place getting a good bite. I saw a thread earlier where someone mentioned James A Reed, can you take a boat out there? A 9 foot 2 man electric? Where else?

Buffalo National River Arkansas
Anyone have good websites or info about this river. I know it is a good smallmouth river as I have fished it. I am going on a trip there May 1st, and need to know th ebest stretch to fish. We will be canoeing and camping. Can some arkansas guys help me out with the best runs? Right now we are thinking of starting at Kyles Landing, but I am more than open to start down river more if the fishing is better this time of year.

Skunked...where did you see Cedar was closing...I cant find any info on it. Although no great loss, that lake was never consistent to me... I think Lake Olathe or Gardner was a much better lake. Cedar just always seemed real muddy to me.

It is the right time of year so I thought I would bump this thread. I have been doing some construction around the house so I haven't been out this year. Anybody know how the local waters are doing? I heard the fish have spawned and backed off at Bone Creek. Anyone know about Gardner, Kill Creek, Lonestar? KU, how's the fishing been?

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
6/11/06 Gardner Lake Started early this morning at about 6am, about an hour after the thunderstorms stopped. We didn't have any rain the rest of the morning. water temps about 77-78, stiff breeze for about the first two hours. First cast I threw a modified storm jerkbait. I heated up the bill and bent it straight down, it stays right on top of the water, but has the darting action like a jerkbait. I have had a lot of luck with this bait already this year. The water was real choppy but I had to try topwater for a few casts. Lost one on my first cast, wasn't really ready for it. Threw it all the way down the d**n with no other luck. Switched to a weightless yum, green pumpkin with a chartruse tail. I like to throw this bait with a swivel about 18" above the bait. Caught about 3 small fish on the north side of the lake heading towards the swimming beach. All the fish were in at least 10 feet of water, couldn't get anything shallow. Made the decision to switch to the c-rig. Threw for about 30 minutes with no luck. Switched to a Manns Hard Nose craw, brown. Found one spot in between two docks where the water dropped off to around 16 feet. Good action in this hole, we hooked up with about 5 fish the biggest being about 2.5, add in a couple walleye also. We caught all these fish right where the water went to about 10 feet. Struggled the rest of the morning, and was off the water around 11am. Strange day after the big thunderstorms last night. I read an another BR post how bad the fish have been pounded at Gardner, so catching the fish in a little deeper water wasn't a suprise. Not the greatest day on the water, but like every outing I hope to learn a little something and I think I did.

Mini Bass Boats
Hey kansasbassin, Have you been to Kill Creek lately? I was out there last Friday and there seemed to be a LOT of moss in those trees. I didn't make it over to really fish them effectively mainly because the topwater bite was pretty good over between the boat ramp and the fishing dock. I was in a pontoon kickboat and had a bass explode on some baitfish right at my feet, suprised me so much I nearly fell off my boat. . I am going to try to go back out this week and fish a frog or something in those trees over the top of the moss and hopefully catch up with a couple of big ones. Went out there saturday...couldn't get the frog bite going though. The topwater was on though just like you said...we caught a bunch of topwater bass until 7:30 and it was off...we went straight into the the trees though. We didn't stay on the bare banks. The jig and smally beaver bite was on also...two of us caught about 20 fish before 10am...we got out there at sun up, first ones on the water.

Mini Bass Boats
I have a 9 foot bassmagnum, have had it for four years, and love it. It is prewired and I keep the trolling motor in front of the boat, and the battery in back. Can fish with one or two people, and can get in most places others don't dare to go. There is a lake out here by my house called Kill Creek. The whole lake is upright trees, mainly cedar. The big boats can't even think about getting in those trees, I can and it usually really pays off. I also have a 16 foot semi V, that I use for bigger waters. But truthfully I like te smaller boat better just because I can use it by myself. I can throw it in and out of te pick up with no problems. Just remember to take te battery out before you try and lift it.....

Rhino Lining
I have an older 15 foot aluminum. I couldn't decide what to do with the boat on the outside so I had it rhino lined. It is awesome. It probably adds a little extra weight but it hasn't slowed me down any. It was professionally done, and it has held up awesome. We even added a new transom board and drilled holes right through the rhino and it hasn't chipped or peeled in two years. It really was a great idea to me...I didn't have to prep it all that much. We rhinoed the whole thing...any old rivit leaks are now totaly gone.

Paint for inside of boat
I have an aluminum boat and rhinoed the whole OUTSIDE of the boat. It has worked out awesome. I am sure it slows it down in the water some but I ony have a 20hp so it works for me....
