  1. Yes ... I literally just replied to this one http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/119308-polorized-sun-glasses/
  2. I am a HUGE fan of the new S11 Sunglasses by Strike King. If I had to choose one pair it would be one with the amber-ish lens. I do own both now though. For the price point it works exceptionally well. Compared to the other cheapy ones I bought at WalMart there is no comparison. Ironically there is a single WalMart in my area which now carries the S11's but I didn't see any amber lensed ones. As for price. I got mine for $25 a piece. Some places are still selling them for over $40 which is still a decent price IMO but $25 is much better.
  3. I am a big believer in leaders. Not scientific mind you but I have tried fishing a rod with a leader alongside a rod without one and always seem to get more bites on the one with the leader. Since my experiments I tend to use a leader more often than not. Water clarity has a big thing to do with leaders for me. If it's stained (about 2 feet or so of visibility) I use a leader. Less than that and it's optional for me.
  4. I'm up for seeing new products!
  5. Already answered above I think Too much line on your spool caused this for me early on. I leave at least 1/4" now and rarely have problems. When i do have problems it's usually a combination of windy days and trying to cast too hard. I use PowerPro 10lb with an 8lb leader with little/no issues now that I learned to spool it properly and cast smoothly.
  6. I have tried numerous and none have dethroned PowerPro for me. I have the new Seaguar Kaizen braid but haven't spooled it on yet.
  7. I like them better as well. They do sink faster and their tail action on the fall is amazing. I want to like the Zoom flukes but I can't seem to get bit on them. Kills me because this forum is filled with rave reviews on them.
  8. third on the "nope" camp. I like the weedless aspect of it. If hook up ratios is a concern try upping the size of the trailer hook. I stick with 1/0's unless they are extremely nippy.
  9. For hooks and sinkers I use the thinner Plano boxes. 3601 and 3701's. I have a co-angler bag which holds 4 3600's in them. By switching to the thinner 3601's I was able to fit a total of 6 boxes in this one bag. Awesome space savers.
  10. So far mine have been narrowed down to the following based on my mood Zoom Fat Albert Grub (single tail or dbl tail) Havoc Subwoofer Zoom Swimming Super Fluke (or Jr)
  11. Yup ... Do this all the time. Works like a charm.
  12. Ok ... so maybe it's a bit dramatic but it certainly felt that way this weekend when I took them out on their maiden voyage. Let me explain. My friends and I went on a trip up to Black River near Lake Ontario. I generally do a ton of research and scout out an area as much as I can online but I did not have any time on this trip. I decided to take the canoe and "wing it". I check out the launch and I see a dam way off on the right. I also see kayakers running around on the opposite side of the launch. I saw a current but it was very mild and I didn't think anything of it. I get my canoe all ready. New stabilizers in place. New anchor trolley kit mounted, rods, tackle, seat etc. all perfectly placed for a day of fishing. I put the canoe in and start moving towards this point I want to try and fish. As I was moving towards it I begin casting my spinnerbait and within 3 casts I feel the canoe suddenly pick up speed. I drop the rod and begin paddling as hard as I could. It was a losing battle. That strong current came out of nowhere it seemed. The great news is that the stabilizers worked like a charm. As aggressive as I was paddling I would have certainly tipped over without them. Bad news is that I had to paddle sideways into some slack water and take out about 1/4 mile downstream and there went my day of fishing. I will take that "bad day" any day over what could have happened. Thought I would share. Scotty Kayak Satabilizers rock!!!
  13. I own one of the new red 6'6" Spinning rod. I use it all the time when running around banks. That includes hiking through some stuff. A the price I was expecting it to possibly snap on me but so far so good. Got some good fish on this thing and it has held up very well.
  14. I use it a lot with robot worms. Great numbers bait to catch a limit quick. I like the tube idea though. Might have to try it. What size hook do you use with the tube?
  15. This took my breath away ! ROTFLMAO ... thanks for sharing.
  16. LOL ... Very funny!
  17. Your reel should work out just fine. Just need a decent 10 foot rod. I just did the exact same thing out of Jersey. To keep things ultra simple I bought some of the pre-rigged hooks for stripers and other species. I also bought a lot more stuff that I didn't even need! The bait monkey does not discriminate between saltwater and freshwater. LOL I could have made things even easier by finding the closest bait shop to the shore and buying only what I needed there. I overstocked on stuff I didn't even touch on my trip. Buy the rigs and bait there and they might even share a spot or two. Have fun!
  18. I have 3 baitcasters and 2 spinning rods which I use for tournaments (co-angler) 7'MH - Jigs, Frogs etc. - 20lb Abrazx 6'9"MH - All Purpose - 15lb Invizx 6'6" Medium - Treble Lures - 10lb Invizx Spinning MH - All Purpose - One PowerPro Braid (10lb) with an 8lb Leader (InvizX or Red Label) Spinning M - Drop shot - 8lb Invizx Abrazx for it's use in and around cover Invizx for everything else.
  19. Same here ... I'm up to 4 bins ... LOL
  20. Green Pumpkin Green Pumpkin Magic Black Grape
  21. I have at least $100 worth of DVD's which don't even compare to the quality of the learning I have done through this site. I even feel more confident in my tactics on the water because of the validation (or corrections) which came through discussions on this site.
  22. For fun fishing I carry 2 BassPro extreme 3 piece rods as carry on. For a tournament I wouldn't even mess with the airline and ship them directly to the hotel or your friends house. If it is a hotel make sure and tell them in advance. They generally record it as a note on your registration. Good luck in the tourney!
