Co-Anglers - What Would You Do With Only 5 Rods.
Felix I just the buy the cross lock snaps made by Berkley. They come in a few different size strengths. I use the heaviest except on my jerkbait rod when I'll use the light ones. I have never bent or broke a snap although I have heard horror stories. You should be able to find them at your local wal mart I have a couple packages of the Norman speed clips but I don't really care for them. They perform great I just like the Berkely cross locks better

Best Fiberglass Rod Around 100 $$$
I bought a dawia ballistic cranking rod when they first came out. Not super sensitive but it is a great glass rod. I own mostly Powells and Castawys but i can honestly say that would buy another ...just dont need anymore. I also have a veritas 7'M crank rod. It is not glass but it is a great rod for cranking. It is sensitive and light...very light. Both rods are 100

If I can reuse them in another way then I save them. If not I throw them in the garbage.

What's Everyone Flipping/punching With?
War eagle the two lakes I fish the most a super clear for most of the year we have pretty thick hydrilla and milfoil. (Bull rush and water willow too, but they aren't a problem). But other than that the cover isn't super nasty. 17 is what I use most often and it's never let me down. If I come up on some really nasty brush couple with mats of veg, I'll usually fish without a leader. Rule of thumb down here is go light until its time for full braid. The powell rod that I fish with 17 (no braid) is normally, I don't get too nasty with that one..ifs really thick I go to the 8 footer it nor, ally has braid.. The Cumara is gonna be my punching rod.. I'll let you know

Jig Colors
You are going to get alot of standard answers. But I want to add 2 colors that are variation of core three answers that have become pretty standard for me. PBJ and the Occochobee craw colors. Now every lure maker has their own version but I have found that these are excellent jig colors that really match both bream/sunfish and craws. I was gonna give the standard answer like everybody else but decided I would go a step further and give you the two that IMO are now standards in my box.

Best Jighead For Swimming A Grub?
One of my secrets on Lake Gaston in nc and va when the fishing gets really tough in the heat of the summer is a 1/4 oz ball jig head with 3" grub under deeper boat docks. I have always used the old school 90s. I haven't ever tried a 60 degree eye like the I use for shakes heads.. If you do change your jig heads post us and let us know how it went

How Do You Improve Your Casting?
If your are gonna practice make sure you get in 10 -15 reps back handed or left handed. It opens up an entire field of targets when u are on the water with out having to move you boat or change position. I would suggest turning the breaks up a little if I haven't tried it before. This technique is especially useful for you guys that fish in the back of the boat or from shore.

Co-Anglers - What Would You Do With Only 5 Rods.
7'6 H fast 50 lb spiderwire ultimate braid ( floro leaders if needed). 7'0 MH fast 15lb Floro 7'0 Medium Moderate fast 10lb mono 7'7 MH glass moderate 12lb mono 6'6 ML Xfast Spinning 20lb braid ( floro leaders if needed) I didn't put down what I would use the rods for simply because There are so many different combinations of ways I could use them. I picked mono for the two reaction rods so I could be more versatile if I didn't pick floro. Besides these are normally the handful of rods that I carry if I'm not on my boat.

Oh Boy.. I'm In Trouble.
Not so mild... She's ticked because not only did I not tell her, but I spent at least that much back in September on what i called a "re-stock". Lol. And 75 dollars in October taking the boat for its yearly doctors visit. Ready for prespawn at least then ill be too busy fishing to shop.

Oh Boy.. I'm In Trouble.

Oh Boy.. I'm In Trouble.
That's right guys. The Bait Monkey has struck again. But this time I was slick..or so I thought. Durring the "25 days of Christmas sale" at TW I got a little carried away...I spent 587.78 and put it on my credit card. I never use it and I always have packages sent to my office..so what's the big deal...right? Wrong because bait monkey got me again a few days before christmas, this time for 320.08. Well here's where it gets good. The wife took her lunch break at the house today and checked the mail...yup. She waited till I got home and blasted me...and she is starting to recover...until the bill for the 320 comes in the mail. Lmao!! Then she asks if I bought her another thing from TW..and I was like...ugh... I showed her the 7'7 Cumara punch rod (99 bucks...what a steal). She didn't buy it. So... I guess I'll get some fishing done this weekend while I'm in the doghouse. Dang ill bait monkey..

Are Aluminum Boats In Tournaments Common?
I was missing mine back in October, the fish were so far in the backs of the creeks that i could barley get my trolling motor down where they were. It was a "long cast kinda day". The javelin won't get quite as shallow as the alumacraft once did. Aluminum boats definitely have the advantage when they fish are shallow and in calmer water.

Johnny Morris Carbonlite Reel

Are Aluminum Boats In Tournaments Common?
Rick Clunn has fished a few events with a Tracker boat. I think he fished out of it at his last classic Aluminum boats are very common in tournaments here. While glass boats make up the majority there all always tin boats in the mix. They are so common that nobody really turns their noses up at them because its usually the little old man in the 16' aluminum boat that will take everybody's money.

Debating Between A Few Casting Reels
I'm partial, but I invite you to try a Lews tournament pro. It willl save you a little money and they are awesome reels. I fish mostly lews now. Not taking away from Chronarch or the Revo. I have fished, with chronarchs and they are wonderful. I fished with the gen 2 premiers and they are also great reels. Lews also makes two more reels in the 250 to 300 range but I have not used them.

Zoon Ultravibe (Paddletail) Worm
I do actually use them for flipping but it is a situational type bait. I'll flip them if the water is stained to murky. There are too many other great baits to use in clear water. I like to flip the around fallen and standing timber when the water is murky. The tail gives a lot of vibration. I use them more often for buzzing as top water around or over vegatation.

Who Winterizes Their Boat?
I don't winterize. But what I do is pretty much standard throughout the entire year. Charge your batteries after taking it out, and always put motor all the way down. If I miss a week of fishing, go outside and run your boat for a 10 mins. And always always always use an ethanol treatment. I use StaBil. I do this year round as a habit so even if I miss 3 weeks of fishing, my boat is top notch. If I go that long I touch the batteries up... Basically keep in mind, keep motor down in winter and make sure there is A fuel treatment in your gas tank. The best winter treatment you can give your boat is to RUN it

Johnny Morris Carbonlite Reel
I personally have not had carbon light reel. But I have had problems with every BPS reel I have ever owned. I have never had an issue with Lews reels. I would look at the price of the reel, what the qualities of the reel that draw you to it and research other options in that price range. I'm not saying that bps reels are bad, but I am saying that I wish I would have been given this advice 10 years ago ...would have saved me a lot of money.
