"broken In" Frog Baits
As I said before I'd love to have a few 60 fish days on a frog. I glue mine a few times before I give up on them, most of the time I can get 8 to 10 more fish out of it before it's complete toast. I always keep the hooks and nose rings out of my old frogs as well, I've never thought about keeping the leads because I've never had one come out. Thanks for posting, that's the way frogs are suppose to look!! Yeah the Outback color frog really is on its last legs so to speak, it's been a good one though, caught lots of bass. Also had a few Gar bites on it, it has a big gash all the way across the back from the teeth but thankfully they didn't go all the way through so she still floats.

"broken In" Frog Baits
I'm not exactly sure just how many fish I've caught on these particular frogs but it's very safe to say around the 25-30 mark for both. The pics don't do a great job of showing just how "chewed up" these baits are, especially the Killer Gill. I would LOVE that kind of frog action, the better frog days where I fish is around 10 bites a day. Just like everything else there will occasionally be a day or two when it's just unbelievable but on normal days 5 to 6 bites are about right. Post a pic of that bad boy, I would like to see it. I can't believe with all the frog threads here that no one else has any frogs that are beat up.

"broken In" Frog Baits
Just as a fun sort of thread I thought I'd see if you guys have any frogs that are as "broken in" as these two. I'm sure there a few of you who have some that are seriously scarred, post'em up! Froggin' is my absolute favorite way to catch fish so I usually fish them to often, you know trying to force feed them instead of just using what they want. Spro has been my favorite brand of frog over the years but I've had my fair share of success on a R2S Bully Wa as well. Just ordered a Spittin' Wa, suppose to be here by the end of the week, and I'm seriously looking forward to fishing it. So like I said if you have any frog baits that are all torn up from all the fun you've had with'em lets see them.

Shimano Size 50 Baitcasters
That's kinda what I figured just due to how compact and light the 150 size is already. I'm also really looking forward to what else they have coming the rest of the year.

Braid To Mono
I always use an Albright knot when attaching my leaders, be it fluoro or mono. I usually make 20-24 turns just to be sure it won't slip. Never had a single problem out of this connection knot, and it casts through the guides very well.

Shimano Size 50 Baitcasters
I read a rumor somewhere that there is a 50 sized CI4+ Chronarch coming. Like I said I really don't know if this is true or not, you know how internet rumors are.

Swimbait Reel
I use a 301E for all my A-Rig and swimbait fishing. I love this reel, it's super powerful. I will admit that I'm a Shimano guy but this is still a really solid reel. I'll also add that I've never even handled the other two reels ( Daiwa or Abu ) so I know absolutely nothing about them. I am aware of the fact that Daiwa & Abu make some very quality gear so you will more than likely be safe whichever direction you go.

Favorite Spinnerbait Brand?
War Eagle and Terminator T-1's.

Crankbait Hooks
I use lots of aftermarket replacement trebles, I like Mustad, Owner, and Gamakatsu. It just depends on the bait mostly as to what I'll switch to. IMO I'd go with Mustad KVD Triple Grips in size #2 for your 5XD. Make sure you get the 1X strong 2X short hooks though as Mustad has a few different KVD trebles available.

Modifying Hollow Belly Frogs
I think you're correct on all counts. I also never bend my hooks, they catch on grass and wood and foul enough of my casts as it is. I have a fishing buddy that INSISTS on bending the hooks because he saw a YouTube video in which Rojas said that he does. It doesn't matter how many fish I catch on mine with the hooks not bent or how much he gets snagged, he isn't going to fish one without bending them. He's just one of those guys that believes everything he reads or hears from a "pro", it doesn't matter how much evidence there is to the contrary.

Modifying Hollow Belly Frogs
I agree 100%, the only mod I ever do to my Spro's is cut the legs to the length I think is best. I like for the legs to be the exact same length as the body, other than that I just fish'em. I've never experienced the hook up problems on frogs like so many other people have, guess I've just been lucky. In fact it seems to me the bigger the fish the better they're hooked. When I miss a fish on a frog it seems it's usually a smaller one, who knows about these things though.

Treble Hook ?
Granted I never fished my 10XD with the stock hooks to see the exact action but I've been using 3/0 ST-36 trebles on mine with no noticeable problems. What you guys said has me thinking though, I guess I'll just have to go down a few sizes and see what happens.

Deep Diving Crankbaits
This is another reason I really like Spro cranks, good hardware on them straight out of the package.

Deep Diving Crankbaits
Well you could try a 6XD or a Rapala DT20 since you're already familiar with those brands. I like the Spro LJ DD very much, it's one of my two favorite deep divers along with the 6XD. You may also want to check out Norman's DD22 and the Spro Fat Papa. The Fat Papa only dives to 14 feet but I really like it, it has a really wide thumping action.

Hollow Body Frogs
Your post kind of surprises me because I've found just the opposite. I think it's much easier to walk a Bronzeye, and, of the samples I've fished from both companies the Spro baits were softer. I guess this is just another example of everyone not liking the same thing, which is great because this is the reason why we have so many frog brands to choose from.

What's Your Favorite Brand Of Mono Line?
Either way I'm just going by the manufacturers labeling, copolymer.

Hollow Body Frogs
I won't claim to have fished with all the different brands out there but I have fished my share, I like the Spro Bronzeye & Bronzeye Jr the best. Killer Gill is a great color as well as Outback.

Frog Rod/reel
Your choice of reel is more than likely a good one, I have zero experience with Lew's products but they do get lots of positive feedback on the forums. I personally use a Citica 201E spooled with either 50 or 65# S8S on a Powell Max 735C. I don't remember the exact price on this rod but it's close to your $150 limit. Great frog rod, I don't have any trouble accurately casting into tight spots or "walking the frog". I know some prefer the slightly shorter 7' rods but I think the 7'3" is perfect. Good luck in your search.

Strike King 10Xd
I've fished mine a few times now and I can tell you that 20# line is to thick for the lure to reach 25 feet. 15# will probably end up being the best all around choice for these baits but I'm going to try it with 12# CXX next outing to see how deep I can get it. You'll be fine using 10# line as long as you don't backlash, if you do then you could have a problem. Mine doesn't float back to the surface very fast at all so if you do have a breakoff during a cast, give it a second to resurface. When mine hits the water at the end of a cast it "sinks" below the surface for a good 10 seconds or so before resurfacing if I don't start my retrieve.

Ewg Vs Straight Shank For Flipping
I agree 100% with what has already been said, no need to change something that's working for you just for the sake of change. I will kind of complicate things a little though, I think I get a better hookup percentage using an offset round bend hook than I do with either an EWG or a snelled straight shank. This is just my personal preference so it certainly isn't "written in stone" or anything. I know you didn't ask about this style of hook but I get by far the best hookup percentage using Owner Twistlock flipping hooks.

What's Your Favorite Brand Of Mono Line?
Not technically a mono, it's a copoly, but all I use is P-Line CXX. Any reel that doesn't have braid has this line, I keep my gear simple this way. I use it from 10# all the way to 25#, depends on the technique. Great line!

To Leader Or Not To Leader?
I always use a leader on my spinning rod. I mostly fish "bottom contact" lures (e.g. shakeyhead, finesse jigs, light texas rigs) with this setup so I like the idea of the fluoro being almost invisible. It just gives me personally more confidence in my presentation. I sometimes use leaders on my casting gear, just depends on what technique I'm planning to fish. If I'm going to be dragging a football jig or heavy t-rig in 20-30' of water then I want the leader. If I'm flipping laydowns or bushes and the water is fairly clear I'll use a leader in this situation as well. I never use a leader while frogging or flipping heavy grass. As I said I really don't have many set rules on using or not using a leader, just let the conditions and situation dictate this decision for the most part. Also as some have already pointed out, this like many other things about fishing, comes down to what YOU feel is the best way to present your lure with confidence. Give it try both ways and decide if you like using leaders or not, some think it most definitely helps and others think its a waste of time. Good luck.
