  1. My Dad and I were thinking about going, but wanting to do the private flight instead of the 5 hr Van ride. Just seeing if there was interest in getting a group, Anyone want to go?
  2. is the big game mono that good? like i hear people like it for cranks too. How abrasion resistant is it? assuming to use 15 or 20# line?
  3. Sweet thanks for the info gentlemen! I almost got some of the defier armilo i may experiment with it and the Big Game mono next.
  4. also side note on the Defier i got it because people said they loved it for cranking but uhhhh its drives me nuts not being able to feel the "wobble" on my smaller cranks like i could with Flouro. i keep thinking is it wobbling? is it wobbling? I Co-Angler alot of events and the thought was it was nice to combine my cranking rod with my topwater rod to help from from bringing alot of rods. was hoping the Defier would be the answer i was looking for.
  5. my complaint about mono is on my long casts its like setting the hook with a rubber band... or atleast with the mono i unfortunately used. maybe i should try a different brand? The last mono i used for topwater was the BPS Signature Mono. my lean was braid with a leader to avoid the tangle but yeesh i dont want to jack with leaders. Plus the first time i have one break i'll swear up and down it was my knot ha
  6. Ok i tried Mono and feel its to stretchy on a long cast, tried braid and while i like it, how worried should i be about visibility of the line? i really dont want to mess with leaders. I currently have some Sunline Deifer green Nylon on that im still testing but the weather turned on me so the jury is still out. Let me know what you think am i sweating the line visibility on braid to much? keep trying nylon? and when i say topwater im leaning towards spooks, walking baits, and or poppers.
  7. It never would show up at $99 for me?
  8. Cool i always want to learn and i sure dont want to show up with my boat, go out freeze, and be hunting for fish. Bluebasser threw some names out feel free to add some more, i really want to learn as well as catching some fish too.
  9. dang i figured it would be cold. I dont mind if the bass are baiting though ha
  10. i'll probably be doing good to get half a day. via this family trip i looked at weather for Dec previous year, looking like it can be mid 50's for the high and mid 30s for the low. and if i go fishing the time i'll get to go will be in the morning time. Thank you for the guide recommendations, still debating on rather i want to go with or with out a guide. we will be staying in the Tall Trees area which is close to the Big Cedar side.
  11. Sweet! Looks like I'm going fishing in Dec! Man i love fishing A-Rig, Jerkbaits, and Shakey. Next question is should i go the guide route so i know i'll catch fish or should i just pull my boat? I have very very little exp. on the Rock and if i gotta fish deep im not gonna know where to go. Mostly just fish shallow water around here 20' or less typical. Are they hard to find that time of year?
  12. Going to be there first of Dec is it worth pulling my boat or getting a guide to fish in December to chase some Smallies? or anything that would bite? Have the fish turned off yet by then? whats the weather like? Thanks!
  13. sweet sounds like im going trout fishing if anyone can school me in some basicinfo that have been there assuming Jackson Hole is the place to go in that area? feel free to share.
  14. ok cool i want to fish for sure, looks like its trout fishing! I'll be there next june. Can someone school me on what works best there in June? All i a have are bass lures. Do trout hit topwater? Could i use a bait caster? especially if your saying they are 3#. I hate to buy a fly rod for just a one time use. But i probably would anyways ha.
  15. Headed to Wyoming in late June 2016 for a wedding at the grand tetons would love an excuse to pull my bass boat up there! Only thing im seeing is its mostly a trout area. Are there any bass lakes close to the Tetons? Large or smallies?
  16. im a sucker for some new Square bills for sure. I recently grabbed some 6th Sense and a new S-Crank, only be on the water once with them so far and they cast pretty well no fish yet but it was a tough day.
  17. Day 3 of 4 is live, one day left, the final day my wife came to fish she just had to experience Mexican bass fishing just once. Even though she was comfortable in Mazatlan she had a blast,
  18. It was a bummer that we only caught a 3.5 for big fish, we new that going in that this is a lake not for big fish, just multple fish. We did figure we thought we'd atleast get one 4-5# but we should have went earlier, like Janurary. Just about all the fish we caught were spawned out, which was a bummer. But we made the best of it and had a blast just catching. During the better times its nothing to catch 150-200 a day. The bum thing was this lake was built as a water supply for the tourist town of Mazatlan so if they need water they draw the lake down and that jacks with the fish, and guess what happened just before we arrived they dropped it 10' you just never know when this could happen. Down there that is part of what the guide does to earn his money is take the fish off and help keep you rigged up. Its hard to let him do it at first but you get used to ha. Whats funny is these Mexican bass are some of the flopping-est large mouth i have ever seen. They are just different beast then the ones here in Oklahoma. Plus i tried to take my spinnerbait off of one went to grab the fish, guess what, went to flopping and slapped the trailer hook into my hand just past the barb! ouch! so had to yank that out and bleed everywhere and have a swollen hand. So after that i didn't mind him taking off the hooks especially on the spook catches! ha
  19. We had a blast! Just updated with Day 2!
  20. Just got back from Lake Picachos! Had a blast, the numbers were a little down from what we had been hearing, I dont doubt them i think we just arrived a little to late. We went Feb 12-15. Just about all the fish we had caught had already spawned, and hadn't fattened back up yet. But still were highly aggressive and fun to catch! Day 1: 58 Day 2: 71 Day 3: 86 Day 4: 84 Most fish came off Senkos majority and then Lizards next. Not much topwater action and we used 1/4 to 3/8 weights on our lizards and senko seemed to get more bites over weightless. Caught a few fish on spinnerbait. Biggest was 3.5 with majority i'd say 1.5-2.5 range. Someone caught a 7# while down there but the sizes and amounts with the other camps were about the same. The only thing i would change is booking my trip sooner, maybe January next time. I took a tip from a fellow BR member and booked my trip thru the Locals at Picachos Bass Lodge. I couldn't be happier i did, had a blast with 3 other fishing buddy's plus we saved some money! Accommodations were great, food was excellent, and service was even better! I wouldn't hesitate to return to Picachos via Alma and her crew. If your thinking about going and want some info just ask away! Here is some footage of Day 1 Day 2 Footage! Day 3 Footage! Hopefully i'll edit the other days soon!
  21. I heard a great jig fisher once say "I throw two colors of jigs, black jig and brown jig, when the black jig dont work i throw a brown jig, and when the brown jig dont work guess what, i go back to the black jig."
  22. I was at BPS last night and couldnt pass up the 50 pack of stick-o's. Ive always been a Senko man myself. But 50 for just under $10 is crazy cheap. So i got a pack in each basic. Black/Blue, Green Pumpkin, and Watermelon... and becasue i didnt have enough stuff i grabbed an extra pack of green pumpkin ha. I took some of the bigger ones to Lake Baccarac and the big gals down there didnt seems to mind the difference. Caught a 10-1 and an 8-13 on the BPS stick-o wacky rigged.
  23. Wesley Snipes said it best... "Always bet on Black" ...just don't ask him for financial advice
  24. Found a good google image of the marker idea. Thanks!
  25. My last trip to mexico i got turned on to the Wacky Saddle, and that worked great. Yea the marker idea seems like that would get the job done. Man those cheapy plastic Tools that came with the wacky saddle suck big time. the best one is the metal tool. which works great for the 5" I'll have to look around at my markers. I'll have to check out the heat shrink tubing too.
