Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Still up . I tested it in the pool yesterday and I really like the swim. It's really fluid at all speeds and can 180 pretty easily. I'm keeping mine, but I'm sure they'd resell for close to, if not more than retail if you decided to get rid of it.

I'll hopefully get this thing wet this weekend.

Swimbait Question
You have to put baits where the fish are, cover or not. Lure retrievers are great investments. So far, I have a 100% success rate with mine (BPS brand) after hanging up lures from jigs to cranks to big swimmers. As you acquire more swimbaits, you can get a big bait rod to suit your needs. Okuma Guide Select, H Or Xh???
I have the heavy and it handles 2 oz baits like 6" hudds very well. I've thrown the 8" hudd on it also, but I'd say anything over 4 oz should be thrown on XH.

Cabela's Prodigy Casting Reel Maintenance Q
Turns out the reel benefited from the anti reverse even with an AR bearing. I reinserted the piece (brass arms around the wheel) and the reel works fine. Thank you all for your help and tight lines.

Cabela's Prodigy Casting Reel Maintenance Q
Yesterday I took apart, cleaned, and relubed my step-dad's Prodigy, just as I do with other baitcasters. The reel worked fine until I began reeling and the handle locked up. I took the reel apart again and found the problem, a little piece that I am unfamiliar with. When I reel, it locks the clutch wheel. This is the piece and where I think it goes: This is how it locks up the clutch wheel: So my question is: where does this piece go and how do I prevent it from locking up the clutch wheel? Any and all help is much appreciated!

Favorite Jigs ??
To start out I'd get some 3/8 and 1/2 oz black/blue and green pumpkin jigs ( my favorites being KVD SK swim jigs or Phenix Brent Ehrler jigs) with matching trailers (either Paca craws or Rage craws). Throw them around cover and structure. Vary your retrieve (hop, drag, swim, crawl, stroke, etc.) until you find out what the fish want. Jigs have quickly become my go-to lures because of their versatility.

Micro Guide Rods-Pros/cons
The only differences that I have noticed are: Pros: Lighter weight Cons: Leader knots get caught up easier.

3/8 oz SK KVD swim jig in Bluegill with a Green Pumpkin Rage Craw with 1/2" cut off. I pitch it to laydowns and swim it back.
