  1. I look at lakes as just bigger ponds. My most productive lake..as well as the lake I catch the biggest bass from, May be 150 acres and have a max depth of 12ft.
  2. There's this one lake near me that we tube fish because there no vehicle access to it so we just make the hike with float tubes. It's chocked full of drum. In the summer those Big male make that deep croaking sound. Sometimes it will actually vibrate your tube as you're fishing. No idea how close they are to me but it sounds like they are between my knees. As a kid my dad and his friend would tell me they were the sounds the dead would make, as a lot of our lakes were built over old graveyards.
  3. I'm also catching them on Senkos or whatever stickbait I grab. Lots of schooled up bass chasing baitfish on the surface. Haven't caught anything big but still fun.
  4. Jig & pigs, flukes, stickbaits.
  5. Does nobody use Uncle Josh's pork rinds anymore? I've had the same pork craw trailer on one of my jigs for 3 years now and it still catches fish. My biggest issue with them is trying to get them off the hook when I wanna change.
  6. I've never bothered counting ribs before. I look at ribs being 2 sizes: 1) That should be enough 2) Better get more ribs
  7. Tenkiller, Lawtonka..that's probably the closest to you. Eufaula has some huge ones but they're kinda hard to find. I'm gonna go after them on mountain fork next weekend.
  8. Welcome! I'm from SEOK myself. Definitely no shortage of water in this area!
  9. Brute, actually called Bison Coolers are made in the US...Texas I think. And generally run about a hundred bucks less than an equally sized yeti. They're a fine cooler too. And just as durable. Pelican is also a good brand but to me their latches feel like they could easily snap but I haven't heard of one actually breaking.
  10. Yeah they're worth it.. If you need long term cold storage. If you need to keep a quartered up mule deer cold for a 16 hour drive, or you are camping out at bear camp 4 hours from the nearest store in Manitoba, they are worth the money. If you are just wanting something to keep your wife's wine coolers cold while you are fishing for the afternoon, then no they aren't worth the money.
  11. His name was Jerry. Was best friend to my dad. We tube fished together and be taught me the basics of bass fishing while I was young. As I got older he taught me more complicated techniques. He died about 5 years ago and his wife gave me all his gear. His biggest bass was 10#. When I break or equal his biggest with his equipment I plan on having a mount made in his honor.
  12. I'm gonna give those Biospawn plasmatails a try inn the next few days. I really dig their action.
  13. I caught 2 on topwater today at clayton lake. Both around 2#. Then I switched to a jig with a trailer and caught a few off the bottom next to the weedlines. By the time it got hot, I switched to a senko and a 10" black worm and was still catching fish. I threw a chrome one knocker on my way back to the ramp but never had a hit. By 2pm all the ice in my gallon water jug had melted and I was drinking hot water and ready to come in.
  14. I do..I got me a kayak this year so I haven't used it as much. I use both a round, canvas covered one that has mega storage, and I also have a U shaped one that's much lighter but doesn't have as much storage. Both tubes have their benefits and their shortcomings.
  15. Who's fishing where this weekend? I'm gonna put in at Clayton Lake and see if I can pull any hogs out.
  16. I'll bring a bag of those smoked almonds. Sometimes some jerky. Payday candy bars are good because they don't melt.
  17. I use the green pumpkin sapphire for a trailer with a black and blue jig. I guess they work pretty well.
  18. Depends on the lake. The big lakes are pretty high. The smaller lakes that have a spillway never really got high..or if they did they ran off pretty quick.
  19. Thanks man. I'd LOVE to catch a pike on one. But not gonna happen in Oklahoma.
  20. Anybody use em? How do you prefer to rig them? I picked up a few in the shad and bluegill pattern and gonna try em this weekend.
  21. Any kayak fisherman on here? I recently bought a Native Slayer propel. I fish so many small lakes that don't have boat ramps or allow gas motors. It opened up a whole world of unpressured lakes. Before I just used a float tube but I can cover a lot more shoreline with the kayak.
  22. Some of the best topwater action I experience is during and right after a summer storm.
  23. Man, I'm sorry, but I have no idea where Dobbs Road is. I do most of my fishing in the dirty water on the south end of the lake, but I do bowfish the area around eufaula alot. I see some big bass on longtown creek, and piney creek. Dutchess Creek too, plus a lot of big smallmouth certain times of the year.
  24. Where will you be putting in at? I was bowfishing last night and saw several bass that would have broke the 5# mark in the longtown creek area.
  25. If I get bumped, I better be getting my deposit back. Then I'll book with his competition.
