  1. Now I need to decide on a new rod to pair it with. Something that will handle most chunk and wind presentations: crankbaits, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, Etc.
  2. Balsa wood cranks don't seem to be in style anymore. I like the older rapala shad rap #5 or #7 in silver and black
  3. Tungsten weights are pricy, any suggestions on where to get a discount on a bulk purchase?
  4. 10% off on Ebay with PUMPED10 promo code
  5. I realize that there is no perfect rod for all chunck and wind presentations, but I'm looking for the best jack of all trades rod in the $100-150. Considering a Dobyn's fury, Abu Veritas, Daiwa Avid, and lower end st. croix and loomis.
  6. Was thinking about pairing the fuego with Arid X but wanted to make sure it could handle most chunk and wind presentations; crankbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbait/bladed jigs, jerkbaits, flukes, etc. Are there other rods that would pair with the Fuego that would work well?
  7. I have read several topics on here with lots of praise to the Daiwa Fuego CT reel. I had planned on buying one during the last ebay sale but then I started to think about the combo and I've not read much feedback. Does anyone have experience and feedback for this combo? http://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/pmc/FUEGOCOMBO/index.html https://www.ebay.com/itm/Daiwa-FGCT100HS-FG701M-Fuego-Baitcasting-Combo-7/132394600018?epid=5009195140&hash=item1ed3554652
  8. I also suggest putting a piece of scotch tape over the label of the original bag. I had lots of bags get wet during a long rainy day and almost all of my labels peeled off.
  9. Do you buy in bulk? Do you have a favorite store or website to ease the cost?
  10. $80 at some store called Walmart. I am starting convert all reels to Daiwa and would buy 4 Fuego's right now if I had the funds https://www.walmart.com/ip/Daiwa-BG-Saltwater-Spinning-Reel-2000-5-6-1-Gear-Ratio-6-1-Bearings-29-50-Retrieve-Rate-4-40-lb-Max-Drag/54903660?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=2478&adid=22222222227051137424&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=147489416799&wl4=aud-261800281900:pla-266041912772&wl5=9010329&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=113134593&wl11=online&wl12=54903660&wl13=&veh=sem
  11. Such a great lure all months of the year and I own about 15 in different sizes and colors. I am going to start swapping out one or two at a time. Is ebay the best place to buy in bulk for kvd trebles?
  12. Thanks for this tip, I never thought to only change the rear treble. Funny how most suggest using a KVD mustad for a KVD strike king bait, you would think they could collaborate and solve this problem, but I guess that would increase the cost.
  13. I fish the KVD 1.5 a lot and I'm wondering if changing out hooks would help or if the factory hooks are good enough. Thanks for any feedback.
  14. Can't imagine any reason, I bought a 5000yd spool and just wanted to know if was a good match or if anybody had problems with it.
  15. Would there be any issues spooling Pline CX premium fluorocarbon coated line on this reel?
  16. Now I need to explain to my wife that $59 for Fuego CT is the best bargain and she needs to go ahead and lock down my fathers day gift. Should be a fun conversation.
  17. Always nice to have your cake and eat it too. I am also asking for the Fuego CT 7:3:1 for fathers day, I plan to just use a slower retrieve when needed to emulate the 5:3:1. That's a dangerous game putting fishing gear on the credit card with interest accruing, I suggest waiting until you can pay out of pocket.
  18. P-Line CXX is one of my favorite all time lines, however the floroclear is crap. I'm not sure why there is such a difference between the two. Unfortunately I bought 5000 yds of floroclear and so I'm just going to use it to backfill my rods to save some money.
  19. Thanks for feedback. I don't fish enough to spend over $200 for a combo, but I also want to feel the bite and catch as many fish as possible. Seems like the $90-$140 is the sweet spot for a quality rod without breaking the bank and there are tons of rods in this price range. Time to do some research. Any suggestions for a good shallow and medium diving cranking rods as well as worm/jig are welcomed.
  20. I am requesting one of these for fathers day. I wanted to make sure they do well with Floro. Does anyone have experience with Floro on the Fuego?
  21. My price range is roughly $200 for a good baitcasting combo, but I am really just wanting to understand the formula for what makes one rod $150 more than a very similar rod. Previous posts helped give some insight with warranty and materials, country of origin, brand recognition, etc. Can an All Star or shakespeare rod do the same thing as Loomis or St. Croix rod? I would think you could break and purchase a new All Star cheaper than purchasing a Loomis.
  22. This is a big factor in quality and price. To elaborate, does china make it cheaper and less quality?
  23. Walmart has them for $68 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Daiwa-Fuego-CT-Baitcasting-Reel-FGCT100HS/396634331?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227090819334&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=204553522069&wl4=pla-329922180187&wl5=9010329&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=396634331&wl13=&veh=sem
  24. As I am shopping to upgrade a few of my setup's, I have become overwhelmed by the amount of companies and styles of rods. I would like to learn how prices are determined and why they can vary so much even within the same length, power, and action The most obvious is the material used to make the rod; graphite, glass, composite, etc. along with the companies branding and recognition in the industry. Can someone help me understand how prices are set?
  25. Dicks Sporting Goods has Fate Chrom and One Defy rods for $50 going on right now for their Flash Sale. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/f/flash-sale-rrc?camp=EML:DSG_PRM:04262018_04262018_FlashSale_Fish:Body_RodsReels&customerkey=18461446-1&mcid=229692695&hdpid=b9b5603a-9462-4bdd-a74b-811c893172e6#bazaarRating:&facet:ads_f55249_ntk_cs%3A"13+Fishing"&productBeginIndex:0&orderBy:11&pageView:grid&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:&facetCategoryId:&fPrevCatId:&
